"Too slow!" Maya said as she maneuvered her way around the bullets before pulling out a spell card. "Sarutahiko's Guidance!" she declared as she got surrounded by wind. She made a dive for the tree with amazing speed, being accompanied by the wind in the form of a tornado around her.

Hayate looked at the fight and yawned. "You know... this might actually get quite interesting... I still think that the tengu will win, though..."

Kyoko, meanwhile, jumped out from behind the tree and fired another multiplying shot at Maya, hoping the tornado winds would suck the "drills" towards her enemy.

Maya grinned as she just grazed right through the drills, still heading for Kyoko. "Come on, direct hit!" she said as she made a faster dash towards her. If Kyoko gets hit, it would result in a strike with high damage because of the speed Maya is travelling in.

Kyoko jumped aside, and fired three Multiplying Drills at Maya, each of which multiplied into ten drills, which multiplied into ten more drills, till there were three hundred of them flying at her.

"Gaaaaah!" Maya skidded to a stop, her face just an inch close to a drill before she ducked. "This is just like Fantasy Heaven! How do I dodge this?!" she said before remembering what she usually did to avoid it when Arisa was using it. She managed to get past most drills, her skirt being grazed by one as she jumped over it. She did a slide on her back to dodge a high drill and then pulled out her camera. "SHUTTER CHANCE!" she said as she slid under Kyoko between her legs and took a snapshot, her wind passing a current upwards, causing enough space to take a certain shot that might just save her.

Kyoko fell back, and aimed her elbow backwards, hoping to land on Maya and hit her in the stomach. Or lower. She'd be happy for lower too.

"Hey! Hey! No taking pictures of her panties!" Arisa fumed, a little jealous at Maya taking pictures of another girl, "I'm confiscating your camera later and destroying those pictures!"

"Haha, Don't worry, Arisa-chan! I've got this-" Maya got hit right in the stomach and she winced because of it. "H-Hey! That was a dirty move!" she said as she staggered to stand up. "Geez....."

She sighed and then shook her head. "I guess no more fun and games now." she said as she shook her legs a little. "Arisa, you won't mind if I go full speed right now, won't you?"

"Oh sure go ahead, cause if you lose, I'm destroying the camera too," Arisa commented offhandedly.

Kyoko fired a single drill that flew past Maya's head.

"If you're gonna speed up and kick my ass, do it already!" she said.

Maya gave a thumbs up to Arisa. "Don't worry, losing's never part of my plan." she then gave Kyoko a serious look. "Now let's have some fun, shall we?" she said as she seemed to take a single step but vanish, appearing right above Kyoko and waving her fan to fire wave-like projectiles at close range.

Kyoko attempted to dodge the projectiles, but wasn't fast enough to completely avoid them.

One hit her in the shoulder, another hit her in the leg, another hit her in the hip, and another hit her in the right arm.

She fell to the ground.

Looks like I'm going to fail. Again. And give Rika more reasons to consider me a joke. Again. she thought.

She got up; a little bit of pain wasn't going to keep her down.

Like Hell I'm giving up that easy!

She fired several drills at Maya, each multiplying into 20 each, till she had 200 fricking drills heading towards her opponent.

Maya looked at all the drills that were being fired at her. "Oh... she must be getting desperate and resorting to her most powerful move..." she thought as she pulled out a spell card. "But this ought to take care of it! Tornado "Indication to the Divine"!"

As she declared it, a huge tornado surrounded her, not being in range to hit Kyoko but deflecting all the drills. Right after that, she flew down back to the ground and then got on one knee. "Damn that was tiring...."

"I....win....?" said Kyoko, as she fired one last drill at Maya, before falling over.

Meanwhile, Marle had reached the village.

She turned to Kari.

"OK, you distract the store-clerk, and I'll....do some shopping," said Marle, grinning.

Kari was a little confused, but she was happy to be able to distract someone. "Ok!" She smiled as she raised her cannon and walked into the store.

"Hey Store clerk guy!" The clerk turned to her and a look of sheer terror covered his face, "DISTRACTION!" She shouted as she charged up her nuclear attack.

Arisa appeared smacking the drill away before it could hit Maya, "Huh... that took longer than expected. Well come on Maya, let's get going to the SDM."

Marle then tackled Kari to the ground.

"I said distract, NOT DESTROY! DISTRACT!" she said.

"Well, sorry for trying to have a little fun~" she chuckled as she showed Arisa her camera, the lens was covered. "The look on your face was precious. You looked just like that underground bridge guard girl."

As they kept walking, the surroundings started to feel a little strange. "Hey... do you get the feeling that it's getting a little colder?"

Hayate yawned and then kept trying to stay awake. "I heard that... when you fall asleep in the cold, you'll freeze for an eternity."

Arisa reached out to strangle the tengu, but lucky for Maya, Hinori go there first to hold the shrine maiden back. They struggled for a bit unnoticed by their other two companions only stopping when they mentioned how cold it was.

"Huh? Now that you mention it," Arisa said shivering a bit, "It is kind of cold now..."

"Ah! Hayate-chan, don't fall asleep, okay?" Hinori said going to Hayate's side and panicking a bit.

Suddenly a small green haired boy appeared in a white suit, rubbing his arms as he shivered, "Brrrr.... I wish Chromia hadn't made it s-so cold.... Huh?" The boy spotted the group, "Stop right there! You can't go any further!"

"Eh? Who's the bug boy over there?" Arisa asked.

"I'M NOT A BOY!"

Kari wailed out in surprise as she was toppled over, "Wha- I'm sorry!" She couldn't figure out what was wrong with her distraction, when it occurred to her that humans are indeed much more fragile.

She then became quite aware of the fact that Marle was on top of her, and she struggled free, backing up and floating just above the ground, "Hey! Alright fine! I'll distract him!"

"Er, I think we should go to another store! The manager here looks like he's about to mess his pants...." said Marle, before sniffing the air. "Correction: he already did so..."

Kari sweatdropped, "He's kinda wimpy, isn't he?" She smiled and walked to the door, "Uhm, but will you have a discount at another store?" she asked, still obviously not getting what a five finger discount is.

"I get discounts at lots of places," said Marle, grinning.

Maya looked at Rori and then leaned in closer to take a better look. "Hmmmmmm....." she tilted her head to the side and smiled. "Are you gender-confused or something? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that you're a boy." she said while going back to Arisa. "So... you think we should fight her?"

Hayate wavered back and forth sleepily. "Sleep for a very very very long time.... that sounds really comfortable...." she said in a very tired voice. The cold air made her want to sleep even more.

Rori flailed her arms about, "I'm a girl I tell you! A girl!"

"Well... you've already fought someone, and I need to conserve my energy for the harder 'bosses'," Arisa said ignoring the bug girl, "So lets have Hayate and Hinori take care of this one."

Hinori, meanwhile, was shaking Hayate by the shoulders, trying to keep her awake, "Don't go to sleep! Don't go to sleep!"

Kari nodded, "Ok, then. Where to?" She asked as she looked around.

"That store! Acrossed the street!" said Marle, leading Kari out of the store.

She smiled; noone had noticed the candy she'd swiped during Kari's "distraction".

"Yeah, that's true." Maya said, nodding her head in agreement. "Of course she looks like she just has a 'midboss' feel. Maybe we can get someone to finish her off quickly and we can move on to whoever's really making it so col."

Hayate looked at Rori, thinking of a plan she might have. "Hinori-chan... could you please fight her? If you finish it quickly and we can move on it would make me feel safe and happy, da ze."

Kari ran into the store, intent this time to distract properly.

She bust into the door, and rose her left hand to wave at the cashier, "Yo! How's it goin'?" She then began to try and start a conversation about the weather. The cashier was confused but talked with her anyway.

"Come Kari! To the next store!" said Marle, leading her away.
