Space Pirate RP

Because the one on TvTropes attracted too many weird people and I was too worried to start it. >.<

Yes, you read that right. Space pirates. In roleplay form. Straightforward, no?

Space Opera-type setting. Yeah, realism is low on the list of priorities.

Anyway, the gist of it is simple: each person has a ship. These ships aren't particularly on the large side because, well, what's the point of presenting an easy target if someone has, gasp, installed weaponry on their ships? Really, as pirates, the goal is to get in close and board.*

You all start in a space inn port. Maybe people'll plan something. Or something. I don't know, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Ship Name: The Knife

Appearance: Contrary to its ominous name, the Knife isn’t actually that pointy. It’s an extremely small, oblong craft that is remarkable only in its greyness. The interior isn’t much cheerier, though it’s notable that the entire bridge is basically covered in mattresses, pillows, and blankets.
Other Stuff: As might be predicted by its size, this isn’t meant for raiding. No, the Knife is meant for chasing people with large bounties down and extracting them. Violently. Most of the storage is full of food; they have a freezer for heads.

Name: Usagi; the most feared bounty-hunter in the known universe. Admittedly, this might be because getting success from someone whose name is ‘rabbit’ is… well, terrifying. She’s undoubtedly good at her job, though.

Equipment: Her sword, which seems to have monomolecular wire down the blade and has no trouble cutting through anything. It’s why she’s very, very careful to keep it in its sheath, where it can’t cut. There’s also her rabbit, which has been with her since she was a baby and is immune to harm on the grounds that attempts to do so tend to end with unrecognisable mincemeat.
Skills: She’s really, really good with the sword, including blocking things with it. That’s super-dense metals for you. Navigating is her secondary skill—or would that be tracking people down?
Personality: Despite being a hardened warrior and second to none in finding who she’s looking for, Usagi isn’t very serious. She’s easily distracted by cuteness, to a ridiculous degree, and seems more concerned with napping than doing her job. Sleep takes precedence over everything, except maybe finding the best cocktail ever, and she would probably forget to eat if not reminded.
History: Usagi, whatever her family name may be, inherited her father’s blade and father’s job. Weirdly, the position was hereditary. She’s been a bounty-hunter since the age of six, somehow… maybe they were too confused to object, at first? It’s best not to worry about it.

Equipment: The Dragon. It’s a huge, robotic dragon, and it’s controlled by an implant in her empty eye socket. The eyepatch is just there to look pretty. Still, it’s kind of big and takes up rather a lot of their storage space. Very efficient for killing people, though. The sword is mostly a backup.
Skills: Controlling the Dragon, cooking, and making sure the other two display even the slightest modicum of common sense. Also, remembering where the hell they are: Usagi can navigate but she can’t read maps to save her life.
Personality: Calm. Collected. Methodical. All wonderful, wonderful traits until things get too much to bear and she spends a week on a drunken binge where Lucky will be fortunate to avoid being molested in some manner or another.
History: Tia is the daughter of someone else on the previous crew. Noticing a pattern? Yes, they all died at once… suspicious, right?

Equipment: Bandages. Lots and lots of bandages. Really, with the amount of injuries she acquires, she needs the bandages for her own safety. She just ought to be more selective about applying them.
Skills: Medicine, medical stuff (like surgery), and enduring pain. Really, really good at enduring pain. Oh, and throwing stuff hard enough to kill people. Like medical syringes.
Personality: Lucky is even more absent-minded than Usagi, and is prone to being hit in combat because of it. This, combined with not looking where she’s going, does get her in rather a lot of trouble. She’s friendly, though.
History: See above.

Name: Sunohara Kurama "It's 'Captain Amazing', knave!"

Appearance: He's not Captain Jack Sparrow, mate.

Equipment: Wields a Cutlass that can 'rend the stars themselves'. In reality, it's a cutlass. An old family sword passed to this generation's captain. Assuming it ever had any power at all, it was probably lost after some epic clash with some guy.

Skills: Bungling even the most easiest of raids... and, uh... yeah.
Personality: Childish. Impossibly so. to the point that the screaming four year old in the guest's chamber is his superior in maturity. If things don't go his way, he throws a tantrum. If he wants something, he'll whine to his sister to get it before remembering it's kind of his job to steal it. He believes he is entitled to everything, and can do no wrong. Despite his many flaws, however...

... Uh, he's on good terms with his sister unrelated first mate?

History: Amazing's family is traditionally pirates, for whatever reason. Their overall average-ness at the job gave them decent plunder and riches, enough to buy Amazing's current ship. Despite having an upbringing that should have created a fairly effective pirate, little Sunohara became... some weird manchild idiot person guy, who relies on his begrudging sister to do everything and claim the credit. How he's managed to last as long as he did is one of the galaxy's biggest mysteries, probably.

Name: Lilly Kurama

Appearance: It's not easy being the only non-pirate on the ship...

Equipment: Nothing but a near-limitless amount of apology notes pre-made for when her captain completely screws up plundering somehow and inexplicably wrecks stuff.

Skills: Looking after a large group of incompetent people, keeping her sanity amidst a group of incompetent people, pretty much running everything on ship.

Personality: Lilly has near unnatural patience, no doubt built from her time living with a dysfunctional family. Always smiling - either cheerfully or apologetically depending on circumstance - the only sign of any frustration would be her refusal to acknowledge the captain as her brother. And that's if you even knew in the first place.

History: Due to incredibly old family laws that were never updated, Lilly was practically destined to become her brother's servant once he entered the pirating business. As much as Lilly somehow hated the idea of looting and all that fun stuff, she had promised their dying father to take care of him. Good thing too, since she's the sole reason he hasn't ripped the galaxy apart by sheer colossal stupidity.

Ship Name: Good Ship Lollipop
Crew: 25, dedicated and enough for the ship to be run properly
Appearance: The Good Ship Lollipop is a small, re-purposed frigate. The exterior is simple, almost shaped like a swan, with a long "neck" and a bridge housed in the "head". There are two wing-like portions near the rear of the ship, short, stubby, and hooked forward. The rest of the ship is an off-white with a red stripe running horizontally down the sides.
Other Stuff: Has a fully stocked snack bar, and living quarters for all the crew-mates. With a large, plush-filled room for the captain.

Name: Komoe-chan, Captain Loli, The Lollipop Pirate, the Lolipop, She Who is Sweetest and, very rarely and by only a select group of people who are all very confused about how this happened, "Project 11".
Age: 10. Well, physically and (mostly)mentally. She's actually existed for 25 years and been ten for five(six, counting when she was naturally ten) of those.

Equipment: A collapsible concussion hammer. Basically, it's a huge red mallet that hits really hard. The head is nearly as big as Komoe herself, but it's also very lightweight. The concussive force is actually produced by a device in the head. Also a seventeen foot long rifle, an heirloom from her past which she very rarely uses.
Skills: Nobody expects the Spanish Inqui-Um... Loli Pirate! In any case, she's very good at being the last person you'd expect to be a pirate.
Personality: Komoe is a cheerful young girl. She's fond of sweets, stuffed animals, and various cute things. She wants money and supplies to sell to get more money in order to afford such things. She's prone to getting easily upset, sometimes, and tends to whine when frustrated. That said, she is capable of remarkable calmness and focus when it's required. Which isn't too often. Komoe is very friendly and upbeat, and her crew has been selected primarily on their merits as big sister figures(along with proficiency with engineering and fighting, of course).
History: Komoe was born, and raised, as an assassin for the galactic governing body. She wasn't always a child, though her original gender may or may not have been female. During this time, she/he was rather prolific, and was never caught. However, the government became worried that she/he may become too recognizable. As such, she/he was volunteered for a disguise program: Artificial, permanent age regression. That way, they would have an assassin no one would ever suspect, a child. However, something went wrong. When Komoe was regressed into a ten-year-old girl, her mind was altered as well. All that remained of her original identity was a vast knowledge of how to use military weaponry. The rest had been totally altered. After becoming upset over being unable to find her "big sister"(one of Komoe's most recent contacts), she escaped and eventually resurfaced as a pirate. Her "big sister", now her first mate, and a crew of twenty-five other "big sisters", all unrelated, all female, and all very good at being pirates.

Name: Hamasaki Sumiko

Equipment: Dragon Antler headband which doubles as an interface for a portable hands-free combat system. Up to four swords and one stun-gun can be controlled by the headband. The pack which stores the swords and stun-gun is strapped to her back.
Skills: Sumiko is a fantastically good cook. Also, being hit by her tends to hurt quite a bit.
Personality: Sumiko is down-to-earth and focused... most of the time. She generally behaves as such to counteract her captain's childish impulses and behavior. When not consciously focused, Sumiko is actually somewhat absent-minded. That said, she generally remains focused on looking out for her captain, and caring for her.
History: Sumiko acted as a contact, once, when she was twelve. When a ten-year-old little girl appeared and asked her to be her big sister, she was naturally confused. After an odd sequence of events that ended with Sumiko obtaining and experimental hands-free combat system, she ended up joining Komoe and has been her first mate ever since.

Equipment: Knives, knives, and more knives. A seemingly endless supply of knives. Infinite Knives. Unlimited Knife Works. You get the picture. Some of the knives also do interesting things, like explode. She also has a length of chain, which she wields like a whip.
Skills: Vi is inhumanly fast and agile. She can move far faster then a normal human, and can preform reality-defying moves with her knives, including suspending them in mid-air to fire dozens of knives at a target at once. It's difficult to discern how she manages to do this. She's also capable of acrobatic feats.
Personality: At first glance, Vi is cheerful and friendly. And really this isn't untrue, she's very friendly and very cheerful, especially among the rest of the Lollipop's crew. She has a taste for snappy dressing, especially tuxedos and suits. She is also... usually very polite. However, she sometimes says odd, morbid, or creepy things. And she is very fond of her endless number of knives, and the length of chain that she owns. She also enjoys using the knives and the chain, a bit too much, perhaps. Something of a womanizer.
History: Vi's answer to anyone questioning her origins is "My parents loved each other very much, and that's how I happened." Other then that, no one really knows, and Vi doesn't intend on telling.

Ship Name: The Iron Lung

Appearance: Rusty, dull grey, and cylindrical. Almost looks like a trashcan, in fact. Makes people less worried about being boarded, and therefore easier to board.
Other Stuff: The crew is almost entirely robots, except for the captain. Has a lot of spare machine parts and junked robots inside.

Name: Machinas Magnifi
Age: 7 biologically, 29 mentally

Equipment: His headband, which lets him control all the droids on the ship remotely.
Skills: Though he isn't much for fighting, he's good at planning and manipulating, often treating things like a chess game (partially because he likes to be called 'King'), with his machines as the pieces. Speaking of machines, he's pretty good at hacking, programming, building, and repairing them.
Personality: Despite technically being nearly 30, he acts very childish, with a particular like for video games. He can be manipulative, but is most often described as 'that little jerk,' and may throw a temper tantrum once in a while. He also is sensitive about his height.
History: Machinas was a nefarious hacker, often reprogramming robots to do dirty work while he logged into secure mainframes from his nice, cozy hideout. Eventually he became infamous enough for the guy who delivered his Chinese food to rat him out, and the police caught him easily. He was dragged to a secret lab against his will, and given a life sentence, in the form of having his brain put into the body of an albino chimpanzee. For two years he was in a zoo, until he managed to break out with his superior intelligence. He ran, and eventually went off-planet on the first ship he could sneak aboard. It was an automated junker ship headed for the sun, secretly filled with failed government equipment, where he found a strange headband. Suffice to say, Machinas would have vengeance.

Age: His chassis is 24 years old, though some of his components are older.
Rank: First Mate
Sex: N/A. Male in mindset.

Equipment: A sniper rifle, primarily, though he also carries a large knife.
Skills: Sniping, obviously. Being a machine, he has auto-targeting systems that make him quite deadly at long range, though he isn't very durable nor particularly skilled at close combat. He doesn't feel pain or fatigue, though, so he can keep fighting without rest until he's lost both his arms.
Personality: Despite being sentient, Headshot is still very, very cold and emotionless. He rarely speaks, and most often seems to be deactivated as he doesn't move much, even when in combat. Dislikes most everything that isn't made of metal, except Machinas, begrudgingly.
History: Machinas mixed an old model of a targeting system with an emotionless prototype-AI inside an old, if reliable, all-purpose body-type chassis. The result was Headshot, who is still loyal to Machinas, primarily because of a permanent directive to 'guard the creator.'

Name: Goliath
Age: 48

Equipment: Himself. That's really all he needs. Also has some maps in his hard drive.
Skills: Cutting things, if it wasn't already obvious. He's far stronger and more durable than a human, as well. Also very good at map-making and navigating.
Personality: Surprisingly peaceful regardless of situation, Goliath speaks in a calm, gender-neutral voice and tries to be as helpful as he can be. Though he will kill people if absolutely necessary, he prefers to inflict non-fatal wounds, or to simply not injure people if possible.
History: Originally a cartography AI that Machinas acquired, it wasn't compatible with the Iron Lung. Not deterred, the hacker built a combat droid - with some custom modifications, of course - and installed it, and thus Goliath was born. Like Headshot, he was programmed to protect Machinas.
