World-Building RP Thing Empty World-Building RP Thing

Post by Dr. Phazon Sat 07 Apr 2012, 12:49 am

In the world of Ellesen, on the continent of Jaska, within the kingdom of Mourinyale, a fiendish prophecy is about to be fulfilled during the darkest hour of the night. Arcane festertongue chants fill the air as the vile ritual begins. A blood sacrifice is provided, opening the channels to the dark realm. The Seals of the Eight, gathered from all across the land, are cast into the flames. An empty vessel is brought forth, once host to a princely soul of justice and honor. With this, the Dark Lord Ooma's return will finally be realized. It may have taken one thousand years, but finally the seal wrought by the eight ancient heroes of legend has been broken.

The vile chants, with a horrific disharmony and the sound of a roaring hellbeast, raise to a deafening cacophony, continuing to grow louder and louder. As the blaze consumes both the body and the seals, the chanting continues heedlessly, until in one sudden moment, everything becomes silent. Save for the sound of the blaze, there is nothing. Silence. Stillness. After a moment that seemed to stretch on for ages, as if the world itself were holding its breath and wishing that this moment could be delayed just a little longer, the flames suddenly erupt, surging outward and consuming everything around them. The cultists, having fulfilled their purpose, are turned to ash in an instant. As the growing pillar of fire reaches upwards into the sky, one lone figure stands. What was once the body of the prince of a prosperous and peaceful kingdom has now been twisted and transformed. The rebirth of the Dark Lord has finally arrived.

So yeah that bit up there's kind of important, I guess, but the real reason we're here is for world building and all that jazz. In this world, people grow stronger by shaping their own destiny. The accomplishment of important goals is reflected and rewarded by a boon, an increase in power. For these people, it is just a common fact of life. The completion of one's "personal quests" raises them through the tiers: Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, and lastly Mega.

Each increase in tier should also correspond with a significant increase in power. Those of the rookie tier are effectively the regular people of the world: they might have powers or abilities, but are still too weak to be considered a threat. Think just shooting sparks at people. Champions are more powerful, strong enough to take care of themselves and fend off monsters, but still not amazing. Think being able to zap people. Ultimates are where it starts to really take off, these people have become so strong that even large groups of opponents don't pose a threat. These people could single-handedly wipe out a den of monsters without trouble. Think being able to shoot lighting. And then you have Mega. At this point, you're a one-man army. Think being a thunderstorm.

Now, as I mentioned before, you go up the tiers by completing personal quests. These personal quests are important goals in your character's life, and they should also come in sequence. Since there are four tiers, you should have three personal quests. Choose them carefully. Here's an example: your character is an orphan, whose parents were murdered in front of him at a young age. His first personal quest would be finding and killing the murderer, and once he does so, he'll go from the Rookie to Champion tier. However, the dying words of the murderer have lead your character to believe that much larger forces are at work and that his parents deaths were part of some conspiracy. This becomes his next personal quest: investigate and uncover the conspiracy. After much research and investigation, your character learns that his parents were part of a group of monks which sealed away a powerful demon and their murder was part of a plot to unseal the demon. He confronts the leader of the conspiracy and defeats him, but ultimately was unable to stop the demon from being released. At this point, he would advance to the ultimate tier, followed by gaining his next personal quest: stop the demon and save the world. When he accomplishes this, he will then reach the final tier, Mega. Your personal quests don't need to be as important to the sake of the whole world as these, and indeed probably should be more personal, as the name suggests.

Now, lastly, here's the important part. Everyone in this RP is suppose to contribute to the world building, and they do so via their personal quests. The above example would add a secret cult and powerful demon to the world, but you don't need to stop at organizations or beings. You could add whole nations, even. It's okay to make use of the locations and people created by the world building of another RPer, but if you do, make sure that what you have planned doesn't conflict with what they have planned (IE, your personal quests will end up causing a certain town to be destroyed, but the player who made that town needs it for their own personal quests).

Alright, so that's enough talking. We can hammer out the rest of the details together. Here's the bio for your characters, everyone:

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by Rain Sat 07 Apr 2012, 9:59 am

Seems like it'll be interesting so... aside from name and picture, not that similar to the other character I wrote yesterday.

And apparently, according to some guy that once made a zombie RP, this is clichéd. >.>

Name: Purazuma Excellion (assumed name)
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female
Race: Demon. Yup, demonic. However, they don't actually know themselves... which is something of a problem.
Appearance:
History: Purazuma was, formerly, powerful and influential, enough so that she felt fit to challenge her superiors. This... didn't really go well for her and she was cast out, power stripped and memory tattered, with but a few names and no more clues to go on. At least she retained some ability...
Personality: Naive. Naive and eager to believe anyone if they'll help her find out who and what she is, though occasionally she seems to get a lot more... annoyed about things than she would suggest. Also, despite her lack of current experience with it, bloodshed and violence doesn't even begin to bother her.
Powers:
  • Rookie: Being fireproof. Also, fist sized fireballs, which... aren't much use. Oh no, a patch of clothing the size of a fist is on fire, I can't just pat it out! ;_;
  • Champion: Wings, which means flight. Bigger fireballs. Much bigger. Man on fire, ho! Limited resistance to weaponry--nothing better than leather armour.
  • Ultimate: The horns, which are scarily sharp, and the fireballs now explode. If magic isn't involved, Purazuma is exceedingly hard to damage without inhuman strength behind your blows.
  • Mega: Tattoos and her eyes become... completely unearthly, as well as giving her a resistance to most weaponry and offences that seems terrifying in and of itself. If there's volcanic activity in a region, she can draw up lava, too.
May or may not have a demonic army at this point.

Personal Quests (Set One):
  • 1st Quest: Find out who and what she is, which... is a lot harder than it seems.
  • 2nd Quest: Since a frontal assault didn't work, backstab the damn bastard that did this to her. Involves creeping into hell.
  • 3rd Quest: CONQUER HELL. Well, her main opposition is gone, why not?

Personal Quests (Set Two):
  • 1st Quest: Find out who and what she is, which... is a lot harder than it seems.
  • 2nd Quest: Find an artefact that'll allow her to make amends for her past, then get it to hell.
  • 3rd Quest: Kill those people in hell that'll be able to stop what she's doing, then use the artefact to seal the place off so long as someone guards the gate.
  • Post Quests: Hold Shut the Gates of Hell.

So, depending on what happens during the first quest... XD

Hope this is alright.

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by RolePlayingRoxas Sat 07 Apr 2012, 12:06 pm

Name: Shujiko Ishi
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Human... mostly.
Appearance:
Spoiler:

She also prefers a blue/green colour scheme, and there'll be shorts under that skirt.

History:
Shujiko's life is nothing special, really. Just a totally normal girl who loves competition and is kind of stubborn about some stuff. May or may not be descended from someone or something powerful.

Personality:
Very competitive and confident in her abilities, but tends to get easily flustered over light teasing. She believes that enough effort and belief can overcome any obstacle, and refuses to admit defeat to anyone but the most worthy of foes.

Powers:
*Rookie: Persistent streak, unusually difficult to dissuade from a task she wants to complete. Still nothing beyond human levels, though.
*Champion: At this point, Shujiko is able to ignore some wounds for as long as she's set her mind to something. Her hair also changes from brown to blonde depending on how serious she is. Is also handy at combat and heals slightly faster than a human.
*Ultimate: Wounds have a much harder time slowing her down than usual. Still far from invulnerable, but the damage she can sustain without falling unconscious or dead is incredible. Fighting prowess is much better than before, as well as augmented healing.
*Mega: Nothing short of complete obliteration could kill her when she's serious. Although decapitation is probably still a problem. Fighting power and healing as good as they'll ever be.

Personal Quests:
1st Quest: Find a worthy rival.
2nd Quest: Surpass said rival in an epic and climactic battle
3rd Quest: Find a significant other.

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by Tachi Sat 07 Apr 2012, 6:05 pm

Name: Eldyn Nadara
Age: 172
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Appearance:
Spoiler:
History:
Surprisingly, despite her age there's not much to say. Eldyn never really left her forest home until recently. So, unless you want a tale about 170 years of joy, carefree living in a forest in harmony with nature, we should just skip that part.

Recently, she left her forest for the first time, not out of choice but because something or someone set the place on fire. With her people scattered (kind of hard to stick together when you can't see a foot in front of your face and there's enough burning stuff around making maintained physical contact impractical), she found herself alone in a strange world with nothing but the clothes on her back, her bow and a strange strip of cloth with a symbol embroided on it, which she believes was left by whoever torched her home.

Personality:
Hates everyone that isn't an elf, because seriously, you're all pathetic losers and should get off of my planet. Naive and sweet, as you might expect from someone who's lived in a small community cut off from the rest of the world for their entire life. She doesn't have a good handle of how the world outside her home works and has trouble telling when people are lying, being sarcastic or really, doing anything other than saying exactly what they mean. Dislikes unneccessary violence.
Powers:
  • Rookie: She has a bow and is somewhat proficient with it. Also, as an elf, is a bit faster than a human.
  • Champion: She has a bow and is really good with it.
  • Ultimate: Eldyn gains the ability to imbue her arrows with magic, causing them to burst into flame midflight or shock an opponent on impact.
  • Mega: In addition to the above spells, Eldyn can cause her arrows to explode when they hit their target and turn one arrow into a rain of explosive elemental death. The line "our arrows will blot out the sun" comes to mind.

Personal Quests:
  • 1st Quest: The forest was torched. Track down whoever's responsible and...give them a stern talking to.
  • 2nd Quest: They were hired to do it by a mage. Find the jerk that hired them and get some answers.
  • 3rd Quest: The mage finished his ritual and unsealed a powerful monster. Probably a good idea to do something about that.

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by ScorpionWins Sat 07 Apr 2012, 6:56 pm

Name: Aeoli Sudd

Age: 267

Gender: Female

Race: Wind Elemental

Appearance:
Spoiler:

History: A spirit of the wind, free floating, Aeoli has spent most of her life flying around and blowing her winds wherever necessary. However, someone came and destroyed the only temple that worshipped her, and without prayer she grew weak. She now seeks to find whoever did this, end them, and rebuild her worshippers' temple.

Personality: Aeoli is free-spirited, going wherever the wind blows. She likes being around and talking with people, especially women, and making new friends. She dislikes Earth Elementals, as Earth is the opposite of Wind.

Powers:
  • Rookie: Can create small gusts, papercut-sized cutting winds, and fly at the rate an ordinary human could run.
  • Champion: Can knock people over with wind, create sword-sized blades of wind, fly at three times her previous speed, and summon a small twister to dizzy someone.
  • Ultimate: Can easily blow people far away, hack a limb off with a wind blade, fly at three times her previous (Champion Level) speed, and summon man-sized twisters to blow people high in the sky (though it's the fall that kills them.)
  • Mega: Can summon hurricane speed winds, cut people in half with her wind blades, break the sound barrier in flight, and summon tornados.

Personal Quests:
  • 1st Quest: Rebuild temple, get bitches worshippers.
  • 2nd Quest: Discover who destroyed the temple.
  • 3rd Quest: Kill them.

(Note: Although she is made of wind, you can still harm Aeoli with physical attacks, as they disrupt her body, thus causing her pain and weakening her)

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by Dr. Phazon Sat 07 Apr 2012, 7:04 pm

Name: Horan (No last name.)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Appearance: Something like this, minus the blood, the facial hair, the angry expression, and the left-hand axe.
History: Son of Urag the Bloody, an Orcish Warlord whose band occupies the mountain range of (Country Name I'll think of later), north of Mourinyale. His mother was raped and then fled from Urag, heading south to Mourinyale. Eventually stumbled across a traveling circus that quickly extended a helping hand to her. Horan's mother later died during childbirth, so he was instead raised by the circus. This, of course, meant learning to perform, so Horan was taught by the circus' mechanimage, a kind of mage that specializes in making machines and the like.
Personality: Fairly smart and mostly level-headed, which may seem odd for an orc, but this is a case of nature versus nurture, and his teacher/father figure did a good job raising him. Of course, when he does get angry, he gets really angry. He still holds a grudge against his real father, and the subject is something of a berserk button for him. He is serious most of the time, but is not at all anti-fun.
Powers:

  • Rookie: Has standard Orchish strength, which is more than humans can boast, but still nothing crazy. His talent as a mechanimage at this point is limited to building small contraptions that would be entertaining at the circus, though they can probably explode or something.
  • Champion: Increased physical strength, as well as more skill in mechanimagic. Can upgrade weapons and armor with mechanical enhancements, and gains some weak buffing magic.
  • Ultimate: Further increased strength, capable of taking the side out of a building now. Able to build mechanical allies and weapons now, and can also repair and maintain devices of similar levels of complexity. Better buffing magic.
  • Mega: Incredible physical strength. The only thing between you and him that could keep you safe at this point is distance. Highly talented with his mechnimagic, and can create power armor that will even further augment his abilities. And if it's made of metal or makes a ticking noise, he can probably fix it. Able to cast very powerful buff spells at this point.

Personal Quests:

  • 1st Quest: Find out the location of Urag's HQ so he can pay Pops a visit. Will learn this information by defeating one of Urag's raid parties that has been causing trouble in the northern area of Mourinyale recently.
  • 2nd Quest: Kill the father, avenge the mother. Be the hero.
  • 3rd Quest: Urag had a magic gem that let him control a dragon, but it was destroyed and now the dragon is rampaging across Mourinyale. Defeat the dragon before it kills everyone.

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by Rain Sat 07 Apr 2012, 7:09 pm

Name: Torako Mizuki
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Race: Transformed Tiger
Appearance:
History: Torako was transformed when she was still young and taken under the wing of a famous warrior, who raised her like his own daughter. One day, she noticed such a... pretty girl, living in the same village. She's never worked up the courage to talk to her and, before she could get chance, the girl was gone... gone adventuring! She still had her father to practice under, though. And that's when things went wrong: a clan of bandits (or were they ninja? Ninja bandits?) attacked under the cover of darkness. They were fought off but the aged warrior collapsed under the strain, retiring to their neighbours' house.
Handing his naginata to Torako, she promised to recover everything they stole. Even though that includes a much, much fancier weapon of vast power.
Personality: Shy. What is this 'outgoing' thing you speak of? Torako doesn't speak to people much and, unfortunately, has a tendency to shift from eyes to boobs (if female) or the ground (if male). Despite this, she's not afraid to fight, and will charge into battle without the slightest hesitation if necessary. Anyone she has a crush on had better get used to lots of stuttering after an inexplicable glomp (and as long a cuddle as possible) for greeting.
Powers:
  • Rookie: Good skill with a naginata, plus a somewhat unusual level of agility.
  • Champion: Her father's equal and the ability to pull off acrobatics no human could ever hope to achieve.
  • Ultimate: Definitely the best polearm user in the world (assuming no-one else decides to use one) and, so long as she has momentum, gravity is meaningless. Running on the wall, running on the ceiling... oh, and her strength has improved to match the beast she once was. Also, a minor amount of magic resistance, enough that the weapon gained on her next level won't instakill her before she can get it (it'll take a few hits at least)
  • Mega: Having attained a much, much better weapon, she can now transform her naginata into a blade composed entirely of light. Despite it being so bright the first time it's used that she's blinded (not that her eyesight has ever been too good--albino), her other senses (especially smell) make up for it. This weapon? Anyone without magical protection, if struck by it, is liable to be vaporised. A sort of sixth-sense for battle is also present, so her skill hasn't lessened at all--if anything, her lack of reliance on needing to see an opponent has improved it, even if her technique hasn't changed.

Personal Quests:
  • 1st Quest: Work out just where the hell the bandits ran off to and find the village they're lying low in as they cross the continent.
  • 2nd Quest: Shujiko. Get her, even if she refuses to admit to the relationship just let--a kiss is enough, more would be preferred. However, she gets kidnapped... and in rescuing her, missing a chance for the naginata. Cool magic resistance amulet is left behind, though!
  • 3rd Quest: Recover the stolen naginata.

Name: Rosa Tesla
Age: 16
Gender: female
Race: human
Appearance: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3034/2481445012_b510000bb0.jpg
History: Disowned for her wizard father for her belief in such silly things as "the scientific method"; has been travelling the world in search of some way to prove that science and magic can be mixed together into something that her father couldn't replicate with just magic. with help from both magic and science, she was able to create an elixer that shrank anything it touched; something her father's magic was curiously unable to replicate. However, when she returned home to show it to him; she found that he had been abducted...

Personality: Is both a mad wizard and a mad scientist. Enjoys making seemingly useless inventions and incredibly dangerous potions. Also enjoys randomly zapping things with lightning to see what happens. Believes that the ultimate goal of both science and magic is to "Throw out the practical for the sake of the awesome!"

Powers:

  • Rookie: Had the amazing powers of static cling!
  • Champion: Can zap stuff with lightning and create magnets.
  • Ultimate: Will be able to throw lightning around with ease and manipulate metal.
  • Mega: The above, but much more powerful.

Personal Quests:

  • 1st Quest: Prove father wrong.
  • 2nd Quest: Rescue father in order to show him said proof.
  • 3rd Quest: Use an unholy union of magic and science to create something so awesome that it changes the world.

Post by AnnoR Sat 07 Apr 2012, 9:06 pm

Name: Maylene Fairweather
Age: 9. Maybe.
Gender: Female
Race: Human?
Appearance:
Spoiler:
History: Largely unknown. Maylene woke up one day in a castle. She wasn't sure what was going on, but the castle guards attacked her. She found she had a bloodstained knife in her hand, and used it. One by one, the guards died, rather gruesomely. Even at that point, Maylene was exceptional with her knives. Since then, she has been searching for somewhere to live, some kind of family.
Personality: Quiet and serious-minded, Maylene is focused on finding a group she can truly call her family. She is placid and focused, and friendly towards people who do not attempt to harm her. People who attack her or anyone who has helped her, on the other had, get violently killed in gruesome ways with lots of knives unless it can be proven that it was a mistake or an accident. She is lonely, and rather desperate for friendship.
Powers:
  • Rookie: Exceptional speed, far beyond what a nine-year-old girl should possess, and bizarrely adept skill with a knife.
  • Champion: Double the knives, speed boost to the levels of a rather fast adult, and slight acrobatic abilities.
  • Ultimate: Knives hidden almost everywhere on her person, great aim with throwing her knives, astounding acrobatic skill for a nine-year-old, and slight stealth abilities. Ability to use improvised weapons from experience.
  • Mega: Knives seemingly spring from no where for her. Exceptional aim, speed beyond human levels, acrobatic ability beyond human levels, exceptional stealth abilities, and skill matching her skill with knives when using improvised weaponry.

Personal Quests:
  • 1st Quest: Track down the elusive leader of the Assassin's Guild.
  • 2nd Quest: Infiltrate a Thieves' Guild Hideout. Kill any obstructions, uncover the whereabouts of the Thieve's Guild Leader.
  • 3rd Quest: Infiltrate the Thieves' Guild's leader's lair. Kill him by any means necessary.

Name: Yamamoto Kururugi

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance:
Spoiler:

History:
Hailing from a family of warriors, Yamamoto is the eldest of three siblings, though considered the least skilled compared to his sisters. Still, they were close and loved honing their skills together. Until about six years previous, when suddenly a group of bandits struck their village and his sisters abducted. Yamamoto himself had been injured and knocked unconscious and probably presumed dead by the attackers.
Despite cursing his weakness, Yamamoto set out once he had recovered, hoping to find his sisters, but has so far proved highly unsuccessful.

Personality: Quiet but optimistic, Yamamoto manages to maintain a cheerful front despite his past. Of course, he harbours self-loathing for his weakness, but he at least knows there's no point in angsting until he gets something done about his situation.

Powers:
*Rookie: Trained swordsman, preferring speed over strength
*Champion: Has become proficient with Iaido, or drawing his sword, slashing, and retracting in the blink of an eye. Great for surprise attacks. His swordsmanship is also better in general.
*Ultimate: Can now fire blades of air with the Iaido, and is obviously more skilled than before.
*Mega: Yamamoto can now swing his blade as fast as his Iaido strikes. Iaido strikes now also produce powerful slashes of air.

Personal Quests:
*1st Quest: Locate his sisters and the group responsible for taking them
*2nd Quest: Kill the person brainwashing his sisters
*3rd Quest: Eradicate the group entirely.

----------------------------------------

Information on his sisters. Despite filling out all power levels, I don't expect to have them exceed Champion >.>

Name: Nia Relloncort

Age: 10

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Appearance:
Spoiler:

History: Kidnapped and then abandoned for herself in the forest at the age of 5, she never saw her parents again. She was scared, alone, but she learned to survive. One day, however, she wandered through a cave into a small hidden clearing. She found a strange golem, with a staff in front of it, and when she gripped the staff, the golem looked at her. She hasn't felt alone since that day. She seeks her parents out, to find out why they abandoned her.

Personality: Nia is shy, and not very social. She prefers to talk to the golem, whom she's named Copan, and rarely talks to others. She's a bit naive, but she understands that people greatly reduce their prices when Copan is nearby, and often tries to threaten just enough to get free food. In actuality, she doesn't want to hurt anyone that doesn't deserve it.

Powers:
  • Rookie: Can control her golem, if clumsily. Copan is awkward in it's movements and occasionally trips. Copan is still stronger than a human, however.
  • Champion: Gains adequate control of Copan. The golem no longer trips, it moves as easily as a human would, and its strength is increased even further, as is its speed.
  • Ultimate: Copan, now in full working order, is much more precise in movement, and can think as well as move to protect Nia on its own. Its strength and speed now far outclass any human that exists.
  • Mega: Copan is now five Copans, who can merge into MegaCopan, a robot five times the size of Copan and thus has five times the strength and speed.

Personal Quests:
  • 1st Quest: Find her parents.
  • 2nd Quest: Discover and locate the creator of Copan.
  • 3rd Quest: Defeat the man who kidnapped her.

Post by Moerin Sun 08 Apr 2012, 2:46 pm

Ack, need to work on the powers for the later levels, but... Everything else is done. >.<

Name: Cheri Piy
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Selkie
Appearance:
Spoiler:
History: The Selkies are a humanoid race often viewed with scorn and distrust by the other races, who mostly see them as little more than a pack of self-serving thieves. Of course, there is a reason they've earned this reputation, mostly because of the fact that they are little more than a pack of self-serving thieves. Legends state that the race originally came from the sea, which might explain why most of their settlements are along the coastlines of Ellesen. It is from one of these settlements, a small coastal village in Mourinyale (although they claim to not actually belong to the kingdom) called Alba Beag that the young Selkie Cheri Piy hails from. She's lived her entire life in the village, and hasn't really met any non-Selkies other than the very occasional travelling adventurers and trading caravans that stop by (and more often than not find themselves robbed blind before they leave). When a Selkie reaches the age of sixteen, they are considered ready to undertake the rite of passage to prove that they are an adult, and Cheri Piy is no exception. As such, she has been sent out of the village and into the outside world for the first time with one clear objective: steal something valuable and bring it back to Alba Beag.

Personality: Perpetually cheerful and upbeat, and a little naive as to how the outside world actually works. Despite her attempts to come off as innocent, it's mostly just an act to fool others into trusting her so she can rob them blind. She can also be a little of a flirt at times, but again this is mostly just to loosen the wallets of gullible men.
Powers:

  • Rookie: Cheri Piy is swift, agile and athletic, and capable of jumping much higher than a human can, as well as being a very fast swimmer. She is armed with a paddle, a bludgeoning weapon that can also be used to fire off short blasts of magical energy, as well as a bow. Additionally, she can understand and speak to cats and dogs.
  • Champion:
  • Ultimate:
  • Mega:

Personal Quests:

  1. To complete the Selkie rite of passage and prove that she is an adult. Being a Selkie, this involves going out into the outside world, finding something of great value, stealing it and bringing it back to her village.
  2. Have fun exploring the outside world!
  3. Steal something that no-one else has stolen before, and become venerated as a legendary Selkie hero.

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by The Wicked Xen Sun 08 Apr 2012, 4:11 pm

[Will work on this later. Am now leaving to go to the beach. Ja!]

Name: Gabriel Richardson

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Race: Looks human, but is actually something else...

Appearance:
Spoiler:

History: Gabriel lived with his fisherman father (he didn't have a mother to speak of) and all his life he thought he was human. Sure there were his red eyes to consider, but he figured it was just some sort of pigment disorder in them. Oh, there were also his strange abilities that manifested as he grew, but he thought nothing of it. That is, until one day, Gabriel was convicted for a crime he never recalled committing. His father was the only one who believed him to be innocent, but practically everyone else in his village thought he killed the chief and stole a precious statue that the villagers prayed to for a good harvest and all such things.

On the day of his trial, Gabriel was told by his father that they weren't related at all. Actually, his father found him as a babe in the forest and decided to raise him. His father didn't know why he had strange eyes and abilities, but he (along with most of the villagers) suspected that Gabriel was not completely human, which was why he was being convicted for the crime. A little outraged by the show of prejudice and fear, Gabriel broke free from his shackles and escaped the village, intent on finding the real thief and clearing his name.

Personality: Rather quiet, but relatively kind and friendly, at least at first glance. He actually hides a short-temper, violent nature, and a bit of a sarcastic wit. He enjoys singing, playing the harp and flute, sewing, cooking, and gardening (he had no mother and his father is only good at fishing. What do you expect him to do around the house? Sit around twiddling his fingers?). He also may or may not be attracted to those of the same gender as he... >.>

Powers:

  • Rookie: He uses his flute to manipulate nature. At this stage, he can only manipulate leaves and petals into flying around and cutting people. He is also very quick but is only a little stronger than an average human (his father is a fisherman after all and hauling fish in from the sea is tough work!).
  • Champion: He can now use both his flute and harp to manipulate nature. Along with leaves and petals, he can now manipulate vines and tree branches. His speed and strength also increases to where he can keep pace with a running dog at full speed and easily break through bricks.
  • Ultimate: He now doesn't need his instruments to manipulate nature, only his hands and will. He can make vines and branches double their original length and make leaves and petals meld together to form blades. He can now manipulate roots as well. His speed and strength increases to above human levels.
  • Mega: He can easily manipulate all forms of nature (plant-wise) and if there are no plants around, he can summon a small forest for himself. His speed and strength are still pretty much above human levels.

Personal Quests:

  • 1st Quest: Obtain information on who is the real criminal that killed the chief of his village and stole their precious statue.
  • 2nd Quest: Confront the true criminal, realize that the criminal is stronger then s/he looks, and engage in battle.
  • 3rd Quest: Once the true criminal is defeated, find out that there is another person behind the crime and go confront this person, who will reveal who or what he really is. Afterwards, return home and face the music.

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Since David requested it, I've made a rudimentary map of the continent of Jaska. Obviously, it's still kind of empty in terms of named places, but we can fill those in as we go along. That seems in line with the spirit of the RP anyway, yeah? So, yeah. Here.

World-Building RP Thing Empty Re: World-Building RP Thing

Post by Simply David Fri 13 Apr 2012, 2:12 am

Name: Mikau

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Race: Zora

Appearance:
Spoiler:

History: Mikaus' life was rather good for most of the time. He had his mom, who took decent care of him growing up. He had his friends, in particular the ones who he worked with together to form a band for just fun. He got a girlfriend recently, even. But then all hell (The frozen kind) broke loose when in the middle of the night somebody blew into town and left without a single word, freezing the whole of Zora's Domain over. Apparently this same sorcerer had attacked the Rito Roost, who are closely allied with the Zoras. The zoras and Ritos worked to try and help each other, but things were incredibly difficult. Mikau, son of a once-great hero, was coerced into going on a quest to save both lands.

Personality: Mikau just wants to rock hard and party, but not everyone is down with that. He enjoys a good time and can't do things seriously. He prefers to just hang out with friends, and doing anything that is considered by him to be "Hard Work" is met with complaints. Mikau is also a flirt, though he's only doing so to be playful if it's outside of his species, as he isn't exactly down with interspecies. He's cool with others if they want to do that though.

Powers:

  • Rookie: Has the usual water-related skills of a Zora, which is basically that in addition to being able to walk on land he can breathe underwater and swim at amazing speeds. Mikau also has the ability to make things cold by touching them, something that he never really understood. However he's slightly inept at moving about on land.
  • Champion: Now has the ability to make things he touches cover over in ice, so long as there's enough moisture in the air. Slightly stronger physically than an average zora, and a touch faster as well. More balanced on land, and has learned how to shoot his fins out like boomerangs that will return to him.
  • Ultimate: Now has the ability to freeze the air so long as there's enough moisture, and can shoot it out to hit targets. Slightly faster than before.
  • Mega: Can now create ice even if there is no moisture, and his ice won't melt from simply heating it up. He can also freeze massive areas over as if an "Ice Age" has passed, or so he compares it to. He can use Ice to slide around more quickly than before, creating small slides. Finally, he can also now turn his ice into weapons should he be so inclined, rather than directly freezing a target.

Personal Quests:
  • 1st Quest: Work out who froze over the Zora's Domain, find them, fight them, fall over and be laughed at.
  • 2nd Quest: Proceed to help the Ritos with their troubles with the same person, making their lives easier in the process and saving a life from the culprit's dungeon.
  • 3rd Quest: Find a way to fix Zora's Domain, Rito's Roost, and then confront once more the culprit.
