Mario is retired. Bowser, the Koopa King, has given up, and signed a treaty with Peach. The Mushroom Kingdom is safe.

All is not well, however. A wicked jester known as Dimentio has summoned the Koopa King's son Bowser Jr. and the mad Beanbean scientist Fawful to a land where Mario once fought to save the world, as he so often does. A place called Rogueport. Here the three former enemies of Mario band together, to form the KoopBean League of the Demented.

As Mario and Peach's daughter is too busy learning politics, and has not inherited Mario's jumping ability, it falls to a group of unlikely heroes, made of many species from all over the world, to stop them.

They all meet in a Rogueport tavern...

Name: Joe, the Angry Toad
Age: 20

Appearance: He's a red-dotted toad; he tends to wear sunglasses, and is usually hefting a hammer large enough that he shouldn't be able to lift it.
Personality: Gets very annoyed when people assume he can't fight due to being a toad. He also tends to get annoyed when people assume he shouldn't be able to lift that hammer because of something silly like "the laws of physics". He usually responds to this by swinging the hammer at them.
Bio: He decided to become a badass in defiance of the stereotype that toads were weak cowards and that a toad with a weapon is a joke. So one day, he grabbed a hammer, and launched a one man assault on one of Bowser's fortresses...which ended with him severely beat up, and on fire, as he had neither Mario's ass-kicking experience, nor his jumping abilities. He was rescued by a koopa named Steve, who had been in the process of defecting from Bowser's army. Steve taught Joe the art of being a kicking ass, and the two became friends, till Steve was tragically killed in battle. (though technically speaking, the battle was already over for two seconds when Steve's shell bounced off a pipe and ran him over; he really shouldn't have stopped for that victory pose) After his "sensei's" death, Joe stole... I mean.... inherrited his cool shades, and decided that it was time for him to start his quest to become the most badass toad alive.

Bio: Spike, like many minion children, dropped out of minion school when Bowser retired. He ran away to Rogueport and started a successful business out of smuggling Keelhaul Key Rum under his shell. Then Dimentio blew up his supplier. Now it's payback time.

Personality: Very joking, plays around in any situation. In battle he Uses 'Egg Fu' (An advanced form of fighting with Eggs) even though he's not quite as good as the mighty Hero who fought alongside Mario the most.
Bio: From an egg, he always dreamed of being a hero. Intead, he got stuck with a delivery job. RIght now he's in Roguetown to deliver a box but found out it was a prank and he has nobody to deliver his package to...
