Tournament of Kings Empty Tournament of Kings

Post by White Mage Slave Thu 18 Oct 2012, 11:48 pm

(Rules and Signups are HERE.)

Throughout the world, they had appeared.

"CROWN." That's all they identified themselves as. Somehow, they were the cause of this incident.

The members of CROWN somehow selected several individuals to be "Kings." These Kings were granted the power to summon Vassals to their sides, and absorb their powers.

Some of these Kings went wild immediately, and had to be put down. Others didn't use their powers at all, and have remained out of the public eye.

Now, CROWN has gathered several Kings for a "Tournament" of sorts. Who knows what fate awaits them?

[Your characters are likely just now entering an arena. It is enclosed, likely underground, since none of the lighting is natural. Each King is flanked by their two Vassals, and they've all agreed to not hurt each other right now so they can all find out what's going on.]

Tournament of Kings Empty Re: Tournament of Kings

Post by Simply David Tue 23 Oct 2012, 1:40 am

"Whoa..." David couldn't really muster much else of a reaction. Even though he sort of knew what was going on, he couldn't help but be somewhat awed by the construction here. This huge, what was likely an arena, hehehe... he was getting excited.

"I think we'd have the advantage if this randomly turned into a brawl in an arena, don't you think?" He said, looking at his vassals.

"Hoh? Already speaking of combat?" Archer said, not seeming to be paying much attention, "But you're wrong. I'm an archer. It's better if we get the jump on them. Ah well..." he shrugged, a cocky smile.

"Sure, sure. This may not be a direct battle anyway, Ihihihi~" David couldn't contain his excitement. There was no way he'd lose, he was too strategic, and his vassals were too well planned out and powerful. Then he could become king of the world! It'd be great...

...Well, he wasn't all that confident in his 'planning', but he didn't intend to lose anyway. He'd just have to use "Luffy Logic" as he called it. Prepare with as much brawn as possible... then plan as the fight went along. Hehe.

Coming in from another passage, a man was following his own 'king'. He had a big cocky smile on his face, but he wasn't sure if he'd be so easily willing to follow this person, "I wonder what this place has in store for me, hehehe. It's like a big adventure to keep me distracted before getting back to my crew," he was actually pretty excited. What kind of people would he meet? "What do you think Flame? Will we meet anyone interesting?" he looked around as they entered, and saw a pretty interesting looking bunch of people. Well, at least they didn't look boring.

Tam looked around at all of the other candidates that had been called. Like herself, they all seemed to have only two Vassals. Was there a particular reason for it? Was that just the natural limit, or was there a forced limit?

She could see some recognizable faces. Fortunately, she had had the foresight to disguise herself and her Vassals with simple hooded cloaks. If the others had done their research though, they might be recognizable by their unique height pattern. After all, Aokiji was tall as hell, Tam was over six feet herself, and Horohoro was... well, he was a young Japanese boy, though Tam actually didn't know how different heights were between the natives and the Asians.

Aokiji shifted uncomfortable. "It seems I'm not the only one from my world here..."

Tam nodded. "The tale of your world IS a fairly popular story here. When one thinks of fantastic powers, the Devil's Fruit is rarely left out."

Horohoro tensed a little, his voice not seeming too pleased. "Hey, hey, controlling spirits can't be that bad either, right?"

Tam chuckled at that. "Well... yes, the tale of the Shaman King is known well enough, but the thing is, Shamans and spirits and the like are common to many worlds."

This caused the boy to grumble, but Tam strode forward anyways, towards the center of the arena where some others were gathering. She might be shy at speaking, but she had very little problem with personal space.

Tournament of Kings Empty Re: Tournament of Kings

Post by The Wicked Xen Wed 14 Nov 2012, 2:15 am

Xen felt like skipping in excitement as she and her two vassals walked towards the center of the arena, but she refrained. She wanted to look more dignified after all and she even wore a cute little dress which she would never have worn normally, except for special circumstances.

Linking her hands behind her back, Xen looked behind her at her vassals. The tall and handsome Gamma with his snazzy Black Spell uniform and the young and energetic Pao-lin, looking fierce in her hero costume. They probably weren't the two strongest in the tournament and perhaps their abilities wasn't much from a strategic point of view, but Xen liked them anyway and was looking forward to fighting with them. She had a feeling that she wouldn't last long in the tournament - not with her element and the way she handled it - but it was going to be fun anywa and in the next round she's going to claim a better element that will hopefully let her win.

"Do try to work together," she said to her vassals. "This is a team effort after all. Can't have you two going off on your own."

"I'll do my best," Pao-lin said, looking determined and cute, something like a mouse. Xen always thought her costume made her look like a mouse.

"If it's the only way I can get back to the princess," Gamma said calmly.

"Don't worry! After this round, you'll be returned to your cute little princess!"

Gamma looked indignant at Xen calling his boss "cute little princess" but didn't say anything about it. After all, they had just arrived at the center of the arena and were now facing their opponents. Best to keep looking calm, cool, and collected.

Post by NazrinTsunMouse Mon 19 Nov 2012, 1:43 am

Flame looked around the area at the potential competition. She hummed to herself as she noted some familiar faces among some not so familiar ones, "I believe we will. It'll definitely be a challenge."

"Yeah, yeah," A red haired girl who was clearly shorter than a vast majority of the room said, looking completely disinterested in anything going on, "When do I get paid?"

"I wasn't aware that I was offering payment."

The girl turned her head, giving the King a look before turning on her heel, "Well I'm outta here!" She said starting to walk off.

Flame's jaw dropped for a moment before she composed herself and took the initiative. "Wait, Lina! Fine, I'll pay you both with food, is that a deal?"

"Hm... make it dragon cuisine and you got yourself a deal!"

Flame visibly sighed in relief. Man it would have sucked to go through this thing with only one vassal. Though at this rate, it seemed like Lina was more a mercenary. "Alright, we'll have dragon cuisine."

The king only shook her head at the cheer her shorter companion gave at the idea of eating dragon. She really should have made a better choice in vassal. At least she'd be easy to control, just shower her with gold and food and she'll do whatever you ask.

With that settled, Flame went back to looking around the room. She spotted David off on the far right with a man and a boy in red. "I know that look all too well, David must think he has some sort of advantage. Wellll, too bad I'm in this competition. And you know what they say, mess with the flame and you're gonna get burned."

"I've heard trolls make better puns than that."

"Shut it, Lina."

------

"Don't listen to the worry wart," A short blonde haired boy assured his king with a grin. He then held his metal arm up, giving a thumbs up, "I've got this covered, leave it to me! The sooner we get this over with, the sooner I can get back to Al and finding the Philosopher's Stone."

Tournament of Kings Empty Re: Tournament of Kings

Post by Simply David Fri 23 Nov 2012, 4:47 pm

David wondered what the limit to their vassals would be, or if there would be one before this was over. He briefly wondered if Archer could just snipe off the other people, but that'd be such an incredibly boring way to win, on top of the fact it's liable to completely fail. Why would he even waste his time thinking of such a dumb strategy.

He turned to Ed, "Heck yeah, that's the spirit I expect of my vassals! We've got this in the bag!" Archer simply rolled his eyes.

Ace laughed heartily, enjoying the display his King and fellow vassal were giving, "Aye, whatever the others must think of their group, they'll be in a surprise when we all burn them to the ground," his smile got more serious as the group finally reached the center of the arena, and the others would probably have heard what he said.

David was mildly awestruck for a moment at the lineup he was against. This was not what he was expecting. Was there not some sort of power level limiter? Well he did manage to nab a Servant without really thinking about it, the others getting logias shouldn't be so surprising. But he only smiled at this. The epic levels of competition they were in for could only be more awesome for this.

Tournament of Kings Empty Re: Tournament of Kings

Post by White Mage Slave Fri 07 Dec 2012, 9:12 pm

[Story Post]

A loud, slow clapping filled the arena. "Welcome, welcome, my lords!" If the Kings were to look up, they would see a broad, muscular man, wrapped in all of the trappings of a king, standing on a balcony with a few thrones behind him. A large golden crown stood on his head, a fur-lined cloak wrapped around him, and his clothes were white and gold, with rich detail. He had a thick, blonde beard, but he didn't seem all the older for it.

"Thank you for taking up CROWN's invitation to come here! I know that not all of you are at peace with each other, but what better way to celebrate the crowning of a new king than with a good old tournament!"

Ran cringed when she glanced over at the group of people already standing in the middle of the arena. 'Oh, crap! We're late! They already started!' She stumbled into the arena, pulling her two vassals behind her. 'Maybe I can sneak in there without anyone noticing me,' she thought before taking a step and tripping. She fell over with a loud yell. 'Oh my god. Okay, act cool. Act cool.' She stood up and brushed herself off. "Er, hello there. Sorry for being late." She nervously smiled and waved at anyone who bothered to look. She coughed awkwardly and stood next to her vassals.

"That went well," Kakashi said from behind his book.

Ran glared at him. "H-hey, don't read porn in here, you sexy butt." He raised an eyebrow at her. "I mean Kakashi." He frowned. "Uh.. We should pay attention." She turned back to look at the man in the crown. Imma smiled, but said nothing.

Post by The Wicked Xen Wed 26 Dec 2012, 9:22 am

Xen turned her head around, trying to pinpoint where the voice was coming from. Gamma helped her out by tapping her shoulder and pointing upwards where the man was making his announcement.

"Wow, pretentious much?" Xen muttered, eyeing the man's kingly and rather cliche attire. "If I become King, I'd choose something much more practical and fashionable."

"Don't you mean if you were Queen?" Pao-lin asked, looking confused.

"Nah, I'd like to be called King Xen. Has a certain ring to it, don't you think?"

Pao-lin only shrugged, not really understanding why her temporary master thought that way. Perhaps she was just that weird. Gamma only rolled his eyes. Fortunately he was used to being around quirky personalities. At least Xen wasn't like Nosaru, the little obnoxious brat.

"Well there's no doubt that we're going to win. I'm on this team, afterall," Lina boasted, puffing out her small chest.

"Right, we'll crush them all with that big head of yours," Flame muttered under her breath. Luckily Lina had been at that moment distracted by the man on the balcony to have heard her King's insult.

With a resigned sigh, Flame turned her attention to the man.

Ed at this time had also turned to face the man. His arms crossed over his chest, he remained silent, taking in all the information that he could.

Tam tilted up her head to see the king-like man from CROWN. "He certainly knows how to play his part..." Noticing that no one else was speaking up, she decided to. "A new King? What's so important about a new King that you would drag us all here to see them crowned? We are all Kings and Queens here, and we were all crowned without even half as much pomp and circumstance!"

David frowned at the guy with the big sparkly crown. He wanted a big sparkly crown. That aside, he immediately sided with Tam, "Yeah, what gives? Who's the new king?" He actually was curious now though. Would they be joining the tournament? Was it someone he knew? More importantly, how would he get ahold of such a shiny crown?

[Story post]

The kingly man let out a booming laugh. "Oh, but you see, YOU are the new king! Potentially! You see, this is not any old Lord of Men we are crowning here! Instead, we are to crown the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! This tournament shall reveal to those of us at CROWN who is worthy of this honor, of being worthy of ruling not only this world but those beyond it!"

He gestured towards all of the kings and queens gathered. "What say you, kings and queens?! Shall you participate in this Royal Tournament with your subjects, and become as a god?!"

King of kings? Gilgamesh? Wait no, HIGHER than Gilgamesh? Holy shit. King of everything everywhere, huh? King of those he was competing against, even. Yes, this definitely appealed to David. Though more just because having the title would be cool, and the little benefits would probably be nice.

"Count me in, clearly-trustworthy-sir! I'm sure I'd enjoy such a title," Always one for the fabulous, David made a broad gesture with his hand as he spoke, before pointing back to himself with his thumb while taking a step. Ah yes, Lelouch would be proud indeed.

A tournament that can grant someone the power of Ruler of Rulers. The God of Gods. Something like that didn't interest the crowned King of Magic. Even though this king had boobs and a tail and fluffy ears. And was yandere. BUT THAT MATTERED NOT. "I will participate." Ragna declared as he stepped forward, his tail swaying from side to side. "And these TWO WILL HELP."

"Eh? I'm just in this because you said you were paying me." Reimu sighed as she turned toward the exit. "If you're not going to follow through then I'm out of here."

"I won't betray you, Master~!" Tamamo-no-Mae is as faithful as always.

"Did he really need to ask?" Xen pondered, crossing her arms over her chest. "I mean, we're all here aren't we?"

"Perhaps he just needed to be sure," Gamma suggested, glancing down at the girl and smirking a little at their height difference. Xen's lips tightened when she noticed and she minutely glared at the tall Italian man. She hated being Asian sometimes. Ah well, at least Pao-Lin was shorter than her, heh.

"Well, whatever," Xen shrugged. "We're here for the gold and we're going to have fun along the way!"

Pao-Lin pumped a fist into the air. "Yeah! Let's go!"

Xen just grinned and Gamma rolled his eyes but was secretly aching for the battles to start.

Ran frowned. She'd probably have to work for that crown. That could be a deal breaker. She glanced over at Kakashi and Imma. "Um, you guys wouldn't mind helping me out with this, right? Sorry, it's just that the crown looks so pretty and I kind of want it on my head. Please? For me?" she pouted and tried to do her best puppy dog eyes.

Kakashi raised an eyebrow and Imma tilted his head.

"...I'll buy you porn."

"Okay," was their immediate reply.

Ran frowned again at how easy that was. Imma smiled and said, "Ah, but of course I'm not doing this for the porn. I'm doing this for my king." She shook her head and turned her attention back to the man in the crown.

Tam clicked her tongue in annoyance. "This man... sure has a flair for the dramatic huh..."

Horohoro chuckled to himself. "Just like a certain other ruler I know."

He averted meeting the immediate glare, and then Tam turned back to the man from CROWN. "What gives CROWN the power to make a god? What gives them the RIGHT to do that?"

Aokiji said nothing, but he was staring intently at the kingly man.

The man laughed at their responses, though at hearing Tam's question, he began stroking his beard with one of his dark-skinned hands.

"The power... the right... good questions! Just because the world stands on that foundation doesn't mean it's a good concept! However, I will say this- it is my power to give, and I feel like giving it. Charity is a virtue, after all!"

David actually wasn't in the mood for right or wrong. Actually, he didn't really care as much as he was letting on about this title. He just wanted to participate in this tournament.

"Your power to give huh? I wonder if-" David had begun what would surely have been a long and relevant rant, but was cut off by Archer.

"I am the bone of my sword," Archer was suddenly holding a bow and what appeared to be a cross between an arrow and a sword, "You say it is your power to give the entirety of every world away? I'll test that,"

"H-hey, Archer-" David attempted to stop him, but no use. He loosed Caladbolg II at the King, and it appeared to bend space around it as it hurled onwards at incredible speeds at the target's head.

Post by White Mage Slave Tue 02 Apr 2013, 4:23 pm

[Story Post]

Immediately, a golden portal opened, and absorbed the sword-arrow into itself. The portal seemed to violently tear apart, in the process, and the King almost seemed startled. After a moment, it reappeared, and it seemed to be heading towards Tam's group. Both Horohoro and Aokiji rose their hands, and it became enveloped in a block of ice. This only slowed it down at first, but the ice seemed to keep reforming until its motion was stopped.

The King took a moment to regain his composure. "Well... to go that far in trying to test my power... you recognize this power, don't you? When I said it was my power to give, I meant it. Every King assembled here has a theme to their powers... and my theme..."

At this point he dramatically flared his cape, spreading his arms wide. "...IS KINGSHIP ITSELF!"

"Someone is certainly vioent." Ragna stared at the Archer Class Servant known as EMIYA. "Really, I would rather not get my fucking head blown off, thank you very much." Ragna tucked her ears down so they weren't threatened via arrow or sword slash.

Meanwhile Reimu looked at the display and whistled, "Well things are aleady heated up." she looked on from the entrance then found herself walking back.

"A-an Archer?" Caster looked over toward EMIYA and frowned. Ah, so it was a Grail War after all. Alright, it was time to kick some bloody-ass. Wait a second. She recognized the white-haired Archer. "Santa Clause?" she joked to him as she took a few steps forward. "Hello! Remember me, adorable Tamamo?~"

At that point, Spidey chose to step out of the shadows he'd been standing in, and make an appearance.

"So, you fools think you're going to get that title?" he said. "Well, I guess you didn't count on the grand appearance of..."

Spidey then struck a dramatic pose.

"THE GREAT AND POWERFUL CELESTIAN BRIGADE!"

At that point, he realized that he was the only one posing.

"Pratty! Sugar! You were supposed to join me on that pose!" he said.

"Um, shouldn't you have told us that beforehand?" said Pratty.

"WHERE IS YOUR CELESTIAL BRIGADE SPIRIT?" said Spidey.

"I don't think I have any," said Pratty.

"Next time I claim a vassal, I should get someone with a flair for entrances," said Spidey, sighing.

David watched in awe at Caladbolg being stopped... twice! Then he smirked, "Hahaha, this is what I'm here for!" He pumped a fist in the air. Ah, the reveal. This man's power was to be King of Kingship. Now that was a terrifying power. Who were his vassals, David wondered, especially considering that each one would have to be a king...

"Tch," Archer didn't show it, but he was agitated at his shot being practically mocked. That said, he had been pretty sure it would be stopped somehow. He then looked at the girl who had addressed him, "Santa-? No, I don't know you. Why do you act like know me?" Archer gave her an inquisitive look. Wait, wasn't she a servant? He could feel it. That was odd, he was sure this wasn't a normal grail war.

Ace whistled, "Now that was fun. Good sign of things to come, don't you think?" He addressed his king, Flame. He also gave Lina a pat on the back, "And that, that's the spirit! It doesn't really matter who we face since we'll see them all burn, eh? Hehe!"

David then turned to see Spidey make an entrance, though it failed, "Ah, Spidey! Fashionably late I see! Too bad your vassals aren't into fancy entrances, hehehe,"

The King seemed amused by them. "Right! Well then... For this tournament, we will be working in Rounds. The winner of each Round gets 1 point. The one with the most points by the end of the tournament shall be the winner!"

He jumped from the balcony, and seemed to fall somewhat slowly before he touched the ground. Raising his hand, a giant roulette wheel appeared next to him in a flash of light. "Alright! As you can see, we are inside an arena! And what would an arena be... without battles? Oh, but we can't have just any old battles! It wouldn't do to remove each other from the tournament so early! Instead, you will each be facing wild beasts!

"Next to me is, obviously, a roulette wheel. We shall spin it in order to determine who goes first! That person will then choose a number of beasts they wish to fight. I believe we have.... one hundred? Somewhere around that number. When we run out of beasts to fight, the total number shall be counted up, and the one with the most kills wins! Just a fair warning though..." He seemed to chuckle at a private joke. "...these aren't creatures from Earth. Not only that, but the creatures you fight will also be randomly selected! Do pray you don't run into any of our more... difficult, beasts."

The roulette was numbered, just enough to match each of the Kings who had arrived. "Oh, one last little tidbit... you will find that you can now summon a third vassal! Do pick wisely. SO! Who wants to spin the wheel first?!"

Never one to hold back, David immediately stepped forward, "I'll go first!" he reached up and gave it a roll.

"Number 1 eh? Excellent, I'm going first!" David turned back towards his vassals, a big grin on his face. As he looked, he noticed that there was another person in the group of vassals. So the very kingly king of kingship was indeed telling the truth about their third showing up.

"Hey there! It's great to have you on board!" I reach up to give the newcomer a high five. They were a bit hesitant but reached up and returned it, "Nice to see you won't leave me hangin'. I'll need you around,"

"Right, you can count on me," The brown haired girl gave a tight nod in response, and David gave her a quick smile before turning to see who walked up to the wheel next.

Tam stepped up to the plate. "1st place was already taken? Then... I'll aim for second like I always do!"

Horohoro suddenly tensed. "Hey hey... are you saying you don't intend to win this whole thing?"

She did a little spin and smiled at her vassal. "Am I? Heehee~" She did another little spin, and suddenly, a teenage girl in a white tubetop, poofy pants, and not much else appeared next to her.

Tam grinned a little before greeting her. "Yo! You're about to take place in an interdimensional tournament! We're team Ice!"

The girl blinked for a moment, and then looked at the "We," an absurdly tall man and a short guy. "Um.... who are you?"

Tam blushed a little. "Oh right! I'm Queen Tam. Those are Horohoro, and Kuzan." Both of them waved.

Marle smiled a little, as she looked around at all of the competitors. "I see... I'm Marle! I'll do my best!"

Tam grinned again and walked up to the roulette. "Now then... let's SPIN!"

Spidey grinned as he walked up to the wheel.

"You call that rolling? I'll show you how this is done!" he said.
