Mega City

In Mega City there exists a type of human that can exceed the limitations that a regular human possesses. These people are aptly known as "superhumans" and are isolated to the city for the protection of the world and protection from the world. However, the threat to superhumans may not just be from the outside, it may be internal - in more ways than one. Mega City has a young population - superpowers have only recently begun to emerge on a large scale - and is around twenty years ahead technology-wise. There are a lot of schools and universities as well as research facilities. 

Not everyone handles power the same way. The majority of Mega City's inhabitants are "normals", merely possessing the gene, the potential for superpowers. Some, however, are titans of destruction - terrifying monsters possessing unimaginable powers. And some of these may choose to use their power to help the weak, to advance science or to build and help the world. Some may just keep to themselves. And some may choose to dominate all below them.

Mega City idolises high powered individuals, none more so than the players of "Mega Ball", a particularly violent ball game where anything goes. Played by two teams of seven who try to score in a goal protected by a goal keeper, Mega Ball is mandatorily played in schools at least once a year in order to secretly gauge the powers of the students, as well as professionally. 

The City is split into 16 sectors, numbered 1 to 16, each with differing specialisation, schools being concentrated in the central sector 7. The 10 million population is split, not evenly, between these sectors and are prone to competition. 

The government keeps an eye on the students and citizens at all times. No one knows quite who or what is at the top of the chain of command nor what their intentions are.

Power: The ability to teleport any item he touches to anywhere within 200 feet of him. Cannot teleport himself; and cannot teleport the object to an area occupied by anything solid or liquid.

Power Ranking: B

School/Job: Considers himself to be a professional thief con artist troll opportunist. However, he has yet to graduate high school.

Sector: 16 The slums hired labor district.

Personality: He considers himself to be somewhat of a trickster. He does whatever he wants; and doesn't really care about anyone else. He gets away with it due to his large amounts of charisma. Gets bored easily; and is always looking for either something to steal; or some difficult con to pull off.

Bio: His powers were exploited by his parents; who had him teleport them into a bank vault. Unfortunately for them; their plan has one really stupid flaw: they had no means of getting out of said vault. After they were sent to prison; he turned to crime to support himself. However, he found that he was not only skilled at it; but enjoyed it as well.

Name: Aron Sterling

Power: Can push stuff like some sort of very basic telekinesis. Made of steel, might not be a power.

Sector: 6 (Some student accommodation, primarily military purposes.)

Personality: Aron tries to remain neutral and stay on the line between heroes and villains. Unfortunately he struggles to do nothing if something that isn't right happens in front of him, making him somewhat a reluctant hero, especially due to the fact that he is a magnet for trouble. He's sometimes irritable and a little cold but it's mainly a front. He trains hard in order to improve but has only managed hit the E/D rank threshold. He's a strong fighter to make up for his lack of natural powers and constantly ranks in the top half of players in Mega Ball despite not being very powerful through aggressive mentality and athleticism; despite his lack of power he's very competitive although he pretends he doesn't care. He is also reasonably smart and can be quite calculating if he doesn't lose his head. Sleeps a lot and is a solid atheist.

Bio: Aron boards in student accommodation in Sector 6. His parents were killed by a powerful super villain when he was ten years old; Aron struggles to remember their faces and indeed many of his early memories. Since then he has stayed in student accommodation in Sector 6. When he was younger he was dominant at Mega Ball but due to the slow development and even regression of his powers he is no longer the force he was.

In elementary school he was obscenely advanced and a model student. Towards middle school however, his disposition soured and he started getting blackouts in his memories. His powers regressed and he began to get in fights with people more gifted than himself, leading to a development of fighting skills to overcome his limitations. Aron has taken anti-depressant pills of questionable necessity 
since his parents died.

Name: Jessica Albarne

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Appearance: An Athlete through and through

Power: The standard Quickster, being able to vibrate herself to reach massive speeds. Has a slight problem if she goes too fast, where she starts to heat up a little. It's not a problem unless she keeps it going for a while, though. Generally has no problem moving faster than people can see her, leaving blurs wherever she goes. Technically she can destroy objects by vibrating them with her hands or something, but she doesn't really make use of such things.

School/Job: She's a senior in high school, and the star of her school's Mega Ball team.

Sector: 8, this sector is populated by people who managed to buy their way in, with decent homes and easy access to the popular shopping center of the same sector. The whole place is rather nice looking, but wouldn't be considered the highest class sector

Personality: She is very proud in her athletic skills, not just with her power but even without it she'd be considered very fit. As her power would suggest, her personality also reflects speed. She's highly impatient and hates it when others take too long to do things. This has led her to be incredibly independent, preferring to do things herself so that they get done fast enough for her tastes. She doesn't believe she has any real limits, thinking that any time she runs into an obstacle she can't seem to overcome, she simply has to train harder and try again. She believes she can muscle her way through any situation, and it shows in how she treats others as well. She comes off as harsh due to her impatience, and outright insults people if they become a burden to her. Despite being a bit of a jerk though, she can still be considered a good person since, if it were to come up, she'd help others in need without a second thought (After all, the second thought only slows down the process).

Bio: Growing up, her parents expected a lot from her. When they found out she was an B ranked speedster at the age of eight years, they were ecstatic, but this only raised the bar she was expected to reach. These expectations led to her trying her best in everything she did, whether it was studies or working out. She found a personal love for the sport of Mega Ball and, when mentioning this to her parents, they encouraged her to try out. It is assumed by some that her efforts alone led her speedster ranking to go up to A, though many would simply point out that she grew into a higher rank naturally, and nothing she did would have changed it. She ignored the naysayers, and continues to this day to try and make her parents proud.

There was a time in her freshman year where other freshman guys would ask her out, and she ended up going out with them. However, each time ended after only the first date because they were too slow for her, whether it was that they were late (even by a minute), they were simply unable to keep up with her in the conversation, or several other possible reasons. This led to her having a reputation for being picky, and there were even rumors of her being a slut. Because of all of this, she's sworn off dating entirely and refuses anyone who asks her out. There's simply no way anybody could satisfy her anyway, so why bother?

Name: George Kinsman

Age: 17

Gender: female

Appearance: Has short red hair; and pigtails. Blue eyes. Is somewhat short for her age; and people often mistake her for younger than she actually is. Almost never smiles.

Power: Teleportation. Can appear in any location that she can visualize. Can appear in multiple places at once; though damage to one of her teleportation clones damages all of them; and her as well. Can also fix herself to one location; making herself almost completely immovable from said location.
Other Abilities: Is a somewhat skilled hand to hand fighter;

School/Job: Delivery girl.

Sector: Sector 15: The transportation district.

Personality: Almost never talks; and when she does it's short and to the point. Rather dislikes people; and tries to cut down her interactions with them as much as possible. However, she's not very good at it; as she can't bring herself to ignore someone that happens to be in trouble. In fact, she spends much more time than she'd like attempting to keep her brother out of trouble.

Bio: Ran away from home some time before her parents got arrested for a hilariously failed bank robbery. Attempted to track down her brother in an attempt to bring him to District 15 with her; but he refused. The two haven't gotten along since.

Name: Marsten Lanigiro

Power: Kinesis - controls the movement of anything he touches.

School/Job: Mega Ball Player

Sector: Sectors 1 and 8

Personality: Charismatic and essentially the ace of Mega City. Marsten's every move is measured for his audience and maximises his public appeal and it works as he is generally loved by Mega City. He is both humble and confident, as well as magnanimous. He often visits schools and Mega Ball teams.

Bio: Marsten is a Mega Ball player, voted as the player of the year for 7 years in a row. His team, Sector 8's Ebova United, have also dominated the league for the same amount of years due to his influence. He is loved by all of Mega City as an idol and the face of all the city stands for.

When Marsten was young he was a very powerful and talented child, and even then was charismatic and generally loved. When his parents were killed in a freak accident he became driven to improve the best he could and he maintained his perfect record at school.

Marsten is also a superhero known as The Original and has defeated a number of high profile super villains in Mega City.

Name: Love Blackbourne

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: "What do you want...?" 

Power: A weak sort of telepathic power that allows her to detect lies.

Power Ranking: D

School/Job: Student of Saint Alfred's Private Academy

Sector: 10, those with strong ties with the church live in this area. The church being an organization that believes that supernatural abilities are a gift from god and the key to our salvation.

Personality: Love generally puts on an impassive facade, only cracking a smirk at most. She can be quite snarky and generally a smartass to people she doesn't trust. Which is basically everyone that she doesn't consider a friend. And even with her friends, she can be pretty evasive with her feelings, relying on coy humor most of the time. If you try hard enough, you may be able to crack her mask, but don't think she won't put up a hell of a fight first.

Additionally, she seems to take a bit of sadistic joy in using her powers against people. In fact, she rarely even reveals her abilities and simply saves the knowledge of your lies for later to use against you later. She doesn't have a lot of friends because of that and her chilly attitude.

Bio: The only daughter of a widow'd father and minister, who by the way gave her the most embarrassing name ever, she attends one of the few religious private academies at her father's request. She really didn't want to as she was looking into a career as a detective and wanted to attend an academy that would help in improving her abilities. however, she couldn't bring herself to deny her father his wants and went to a school she loathed, even more so after a few days dealing with kids who took an instant dislike to her. Only one person bothered to approach her in a friendly manner and somehow that very person quickly became her best friend.

Power: He's a powerful empath, not only capable of reading emotions but also manipulating them.

Power Ranking: B

School/Job: Student of Saint Alfred's Private Academy

Sector: 10

Personality: A cheerful young man who generally likes to have fun and spend time relaxing whilst listening to music. He's friendly and invasive when it comes to personal space. He likes to tease others but only in good humor and never maliciously. He can be pretty clueless about some things while way too perceptive about others. For instance, he'll ignore harsh words thrown at him by someone, seemingly missing the point of the insults, and at the same time manages to knock down the walls of the person who insulted him and become their friend without even having to use his powers.

Bio: Originally an orphan, he was adopted into a very religious family because of his abilities. While his adoptive parent's motives would seem sketchy initially, they were very kind to him and only wanted to make sure someone of his abilities grew up in an environment where he wouldn't use them for wrong doings. He was enrolled into a private academy where his parents felt he would get the best education and that is where he met Love. Thanks to his powers, he could tell instantly that she was unhappy and lonely so he did his best to remedy that no matter how much she acted like she hated his company.

Name: Professor Joachim Porsche   


Age: 77

Gender: male

Appearance: Long white hair, black eyes. Skinny, and somewhat unimposing. Always seems to be wearing a suit.

Power: Manipulation of fire and water. While he is nowhere near as powerful as he once was; he still has precise control over his abilities. His mastery over water lets him move water around; as well as turn in into ice or snow; or tear it out of the nearest living target. His mastery over fire pretty much just allows him to move fire around; as well as increase it's heat and brightness.

Power Ranking: B (Will gradually lower as the RP goes on)

School/Job: Leader of the Criminal Organization known only as "The Family"

Sector: Unknown.

Personality: Among the ranks of his organization, he's known as somewhat of a hard-ass. He doesn't mince words; nor does he tolerate incompetence. However, he has a slightly softer side; as he treats the members of his organization as if they were his extended family. They've become almost fanatically devoted to him; to the point that they're willing to die for him. Tries to avoid bloodshed; though he's not above killing someone if he deems it necessary. Anyone who mentions his granddaughter to him had better be prepared for a severe beating.  

Bio: Was once a professor; responsible for teaching students about the science behind various super-powers. However, all that changed with the death of his wife; and disappearance of his daughter. After that, he disappeared for a while; and returned ten years later to kill the heads of five the the biggest crime families in the city...in one day. Since then, he's been recruiting super-powered people into his organization; and occasionally sending them to commit various crimes. In all the years he's been running his organization, he's only been caught once. And they weren't able to hold him for long.

Name: Viktor Bogomolov

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Appearance: (some grown man that looks like a scientist. Idk I'll find an image later)

Power: Being a Technopath, he has the ability to communicate with Machinery in a way no other human can (unless they're a technopath as well). His powers go as far as: Capable of manipulating any machinery he is physically in contact with, can tell what a machine does simply by looking at it, can tell what type of people have made use of a machine recently by "asking it", and can occasionally cause a machine to do things it normally couldn't (For example, making a cell phone perform a call without any paid services, or make a motorcycle go in reverse at the same speed it can go forwards).

Power Ranking: B (The only difference between him and an A rank Technopath is the range they can control machines at)

School/Job: Former Scientist at a respected university

Sector: 3 formerly, currently hiding out in sector 16. Sector 3 is the designated science and research sector, holding many laboratories with a variety of purposes. Due to the special powers of some, science and research has gone quite a ways in a relatively short time. There are also entire laboratories focused on the research and development of special powers.

Personality: He can't stand people, finds them utterly unbearable. This is caused by his history with people. However, he loves machines, and treats them like his own children, or if someone else built the machine he will treat it like a respectable and well behaved child. His love of machines has even resulted in him changing aspects of his body to machinery. He has no respect for human life, and will end the life of another for so much as interrupting his work if he's so inclined. He gets angry easily, and holds grudges forever, as seen with his current biggest grudge against the university in sector 3 he used to work in.

Bio: Growing up, Viktor was always the odd one out. His technopathy made him talk with machines more often than other kids, and this weirded out a lot of kids even though some of them had their own special powers. He'd get made fun of, so he ended up just staying to himself. His mother was always worried about his well being growing up, since he never had any friends. Going into middle school, things only got worse for him as he started getting bullied. In High School, however, things started looking up for him. Teachers noticed his talents with machines when he was in Middle School, and so he was offered special classes in high school. These classes resulted in him being further detached from other students but he was able to do the thing he loved: work on machines. It was during this period, however, that someone robbing a store killed his mother, and he obtained a newfound hatred for other humans all over again. But, he kept up his work.

He eventually made it into Sector 3, and entered into a very special university. So long as he would take the time out of his day to teach students twice a week, he was allowed to perform experiments and studies there as much as he wanted. While he hated teaching, it was simply the price he had to pay and he was willing. Over the next seven years, he and another woman had started noticing each other. He had refused to let himself date her, instead simply working with her from time to time, making excuses just to meet her.

What nobody knew, however, was that his 'experiments' they were letting him perform was human experimentation. He was kidnapping people, even occasionally children, and turning them into part-machine. These cyborgs usually had their memories altered so that they wouldn't remember, so that he could test how they interacted in public. Many, many of them died, but eventually he discovered how to do it without harming the body (Aside from the parts removed to make room, of course). However, before he could complete his experiments, he made a mistake. The woman he had began falling for discovered what he was up to, and quickly reported him to the higher ups. Knowing that nobody would expect him to put up a fight and so they'd send ordinary police to search for him, he made a hasty 'experiment' with his own body, removing his arm and a section of his own spine, and replacing it with a powerful cyber-kinetic pair of arms, with one of them waving above his head from his back. The arm on his back would allow him capability of flight, and with the variety of technology he had built into them he made his hasty escape right through the police that tried to stop him, and then covered his tracks as he made his way through the sewers.

It would be quite likely that they would use special powers to search for him, so he made a decision nobody would have thought someone like him would make: He hid in sector 16, pretending to be just a regular delinquent among the other criminals there. It was not hard for him to establish a small makeshift laboratory for him to continue his experiments in, and it was unlikely that the population there would be safe from him...

Name: Jeremiah Elon

Age: 45

Gender: Male

Appearance: Older than he looks

Power: Manipulation of Light. He can cause all light to fade, or for it to become so bright that it hurts one's eyes. He can cause a person to see illusions, but it's only a manipulation of light and so sound can not be faked. He can actually manipulate how others perceive him, as well, through visual illusions. Light is not physical enough for people to touch, so just like with other illusions it can be seen through by touching it. Easier said than done, however, as he has had many years to master manipulating what others see. Currently, he has his power constantly in effect, covering his body to make it look like his twenty year old self still.

Power Ranking: C (While creative with his power, it is not that strong strictly speaking)

School/Job: A Priest in The Church

Sector: 10

Personality: He loves all of God's children as equally as God himself, or so he tries. He believes in a strict upbringing, and raises children at the churches with strict guidance, even when their parents aren't too happy about that. He enjoys preaching to others, and will go on for great lengths of time if nobody stops him, unless he has somewhere to be. However, he always has time to teach others about the Word of God. He believes he hears the voice of God himself, and through this he performs actions under "His command". He believes it is his holy duty to make sure everyone in Mega City understands that the powers they have are gifts from God Himself. The message of the Church is his top priority, and he makes sure everyone he sees hears it.

Bio: His father was a priest of fairly decent renown, and his mother had been a chef, but she had died during childbirth. Growing up without a mother would be difficult anyway, but his father was always out doing priestly things and spreading The Word. In middle school, while developing his powers, he began to cause trouble for others and pull pranks. It was this rebellious side that got him to learn how to use his power to the fullest, manipulating light paths to trick people into walking into walls, each other, stepping in buckets full of paint, going to sit in a chair that isn't there, and so much more. In the end, however, his father had gotten sick of it and put him in a private school with harsher disciplinary actions. He was trained to be a priest there, but he still hadn't wanted to be one.

When he was old enough to move out, he explored Mega City for himself for about five years before coming back, saying that he had suddenly seen the light, and God had spoken to him. It turns out that this was because of one woman, who he had fallen in love with, and was a follower of God as well. They ended up getting married and having kids, and now Jeremiah is a priest who presents the Word of God to massive groups in the church, using his less-than-admirable history as a teaching tool for young students.

Gender: female


Appearance: messy brown hair, blue eyes. Almost always grinning.


Power: Has the power to turn into any kind of warm-blooded animal that has ever existed on Earth.

Power Ranking: B

School/Job: Thrill seeker. Also  member of that criminal organization that I will get around to naming. Though she's enough of a wild-card that they only call on her when they're desperately in need of her skills.

Sector: Whichever sector she feels like sleeping in this week. Originally from Sector 8

Personality: Completely and utterly nuts. A wild woman that pretty much does whatever she wants. Has no qualms about breaking into other peoples' homes and stealing their food/money/shiny objects. Sometimes even sneaks into their homes and crashes on their couches without them knowing about it. Is easily bored; and tends to spend a lot of time looking for some sort of thrill.  When something angers her; she will often go on destructive rampages; often destroying a large amount of property before she calms down. Is a vicious fighter; people that fight her generally don't end up in good shape. Has a fondness for animals; however, that won't stop her from eating them if she gets hungry enough. Prefers to go by her middle name.


Bio: Was at one time a member of one of the wealthiest families in Sector 8. She was a member of the Megaball team; and could probably have made a career in the sport if she'd wanted to. However, she decided that all of that was boring; so she ran away and joined a criminal organization. That's really all their is to say.

Name: Susan Porsche

Age: 27

Gender: female

Appearance: Long black hair, grey eyes. Has some surgical scars on her forehead; just below her hairline.

Power: Has the ability to see everything that ever has existed, exists, or could potentially exist. This power needs to be constantly suppressed to keep her from using it. Because of this; she's confined to a small area of a top secret facility filled with machinery that suppresses her powers. However, even with such measures in place; she still gets occasional visions.

Power Ranking: S

School/Job: Mascot of the criminal organization known as "The Family".

Sector: unknown.

Personality: Tries to put on a cheerful façade to hide the extent to which her situation has been effecting her sanity. Has been attempting to distract herself from her confinement via whatever comics, books, and videogames she can get her hands on.

Bio: Was once an ordinary girl with weak precognition abilities. However, that changed around the time she was kidnapped by a mysterious group; and subjected to various experiments to unlock the full extent of her abilities. She was eventually rescued by her father; but the damage had already been done. Since then, he's been searching for a way to permanently remove her powers; or at least reduce them to the point they were originally.

Name: Lara Stiles

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Appearance: The girl.

Power: 

• Enhanced vision; she can see from far greater distances than others. She can also focus her sight on a specific spot for far greater perception, sort of like a zoom in on a camera.
  
• Thought projection; not only can she project her thoughts to others, but she can project images that she sees to them as well creating a sort of visual link between her and the other people.

Sector: 8

Personality: A stern and no nonsense young woman who can come off quite mature despite her small and childish stature. While she can be a little harsh at times, she is never mean and only acts that way to look out for the person she's being stern with. She is a mama bear of sorts despite being really tiny and not that threatening.

Bio: A small girl who has been mute all her life, because of this most people assumed that she was purposely ignoring others. That or they just felt awkward about a mute girl sending her thoughts into their head. Overall, it provided her with very little friends. Not to say she didn't have any friends, she had a few who looked passed her disability and power and it was through those friends that she met Kouki who would later become her boyfriend. Though, most people end up assuming he's her father much to her annoyance.

Name: Kouki Honda (Nickname: Kou, and he usually introduces himself as such to others his age)

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Appearance: Aren't they adorable together? Huh? What do you mean it looks odd?

Power: Kouki has the power to manipulate raw energy, but only in a very specific way. He can create an exoskeleton that surrounds him and he can manipulate it as if it were an extension of his own body. The exoskeleton can appear in one of three forms: A decently long cane that he can use for finding his way around (since he's blind), A large humanoid that looks a bit like a mech (and he can summon an individual arm just to extend from his own arm), or a car, which for some reason can even be opened and used by those around him. There's a chance he can learn more shapes, however both of these were made when he was a very small child and he hasn't made anything new since.

Power Ranking: B

School/Job: High School Freshman

Sector: 8

Personality: A kindhearted guy, Kouki tends to laugh off anything troublesome. Despite the broadness of his body (and the even broader size of his power), he has a very gentle touch. He loves animals and even has a pet bird at his house. He's a little slow sometimes, not really being very good at studies or figuring out what people really mean. This leads to him being gullible at times, which is only amplified by his blindness, since he can't just look at something and see that what the other person is saying isn't true. That said, he's developed a strong distaste for liars, and if he finds someone out as a liar he will give them only one further chance: if they lie again then he won't hesitate to strike them. This is one of the only two things he'll ever lose his cool over. The other thing that causes him to lose his cool is when someone harms someone weaker than themself, which also warrants a warning before he strikes.

Bio: Kouki was born blind, with doctors lamenting that there was actually no way to cure him with the technology available even in Mega City. With this in mind, his parents raised him with the help of some doctors, and Kouki grew and learned how to do things without his eyes. This actually managed to not hinder him very much at all in life, and he grew all the way past middle school with no problems.

One thing that his blindness did cause was a lack of friends. While he certainly had a small group of friends that he was very close to, most kids didn't really want to associate with the always-bigger-than-his-class and blind Kouki. Not to mention that his blue-energy formed cane creeped some people out. One day, his friends made a new friend without him there at the time, and this was how he came to know his girlfriend, Lara. He's certainly convinced that he's in love with her, and so he spends time with her every single day. Though, there are people who see them together and mistake her for his daughter, which he just laughs off as funny even though it makes her upset.

Name: Marcia Cantata

Age: 29

Gender: female

Appearance: long, reddish-brown hair. green eyes. Somewhat tall for a woman of her age.

Power: A very specific form of mind control that she can only use on people that have heard her singing voice. What exactly she can do depends on the person she's using it on. Some people are highly susceptible to her abilities; and can simply be ordered around. She can't directly control people with strong wills; however, she can cause them to hallucinate; or mess with their nerves.

Power Ranking: C

School/Job: Professional Criminal. Specializes in abducting people.

Sector: 7

Personality: Somewhat unhinged. Talks to everyone as if they were a five year old; and never swears. Has almost no qualms about using other people as tools. Though she refuses to do anything that would directly hurt a child; she's not above using her mind control on them.

Bio: Used to be a Kindergarten teacher; before false allegations that she was mind controlling the children under her care ruined her career.
