A World of Our Own Empty A World of Our Own

Post by Dr. Phazon Sun 15 Apr 2012, 1:26 am

With the announcement of the revival of the Dark King Ooma, King Yarel Mourinyale had immediately began to prepare. All of Rinbel, which was already a bustling and busy place, seemed especially busy that day when Horan came through the city gates. There was a group of soldiers training up ahead in the town square, and the air was filled with the sounds of several blacksmiths hammering out new weapons and armor. Masons were running about, attempting to build upon the city's walls and make them more solid. All of this on top of the usual business of an afternoon in the biggest city of Mourinyale created a very hectic atmosphere.

Thankfully, Horan was use to such a feel. Being raised in a circus makes sure of that. What he was not as use to was the heavy feel of magical energies in the air. Mourinyale was a prosperous nation due to the large mines of spellstone ore it sat upon, and the capital city of Rinbel sat upon the largest of them. He could feel the mana throbbing through the air around him. To a mage who had never felt anything quite like it before, the effect was both amazing and slightly unnerving. But Horan didn't come to Rinbel for no reason, so he headed further into the city and began searching for the library.

Eldyn looked around the busy streets of Rinbel. The sheer number of people in the area had her awestruck. After all, the elf was used to the small community back in Echovald, maybe one hundred elves and the animals that lived within the forest. And most of the villages she had seen up until now weren't much bigger. But this...This was amazing.

"Now then, where did that man tell me to go..." she asked herself, looking around for any buildings labeled 'Hell'. That man had been really helpful, telling her not only to go to the capital, but also what building she should visit. It was a shame he couldn't help with directions to 'Hell'.

Gabriel stepped out from a clothing store, slightly adjusting his new set of clothes. His old set were no more then just rags now, after having worn them for over two weeks of traveling through forests and other such terrain. Honestly, perhaps leaving his home village so abruptly and without any preparation wasn't the smartest of choices. At least he managed to take back his precious flute and harp, without which he wouldn't have earned the money he needed for clothes, food, and lodging. People were quite generous when it comes to hearing good music.

After looking left and right, the young musician aimlessly made his way down the street. His goal was to search for the person who framed him for a crime he didn't commit, but honestly, he didn't know where to even start! He doubted going to the authorities would help. Fat lot of good the did to him back home...

Maybe he should go to a pub... lots of gossip always goes by in pubs. It was practically a fact of life.

As Mikau entered the town, he felt hopeful. He felt excited! He knew it was going to be a BIG DAY!

...Ok not really. "Man, why do I have to do this? I feel like I've been given the hardest job there is to give..." Mikau slumped into town, not very excited about the prospect of fighting someone who apparently had the power to freeze over two large areas. What was he supposed to do? He wasn't exactly all that amazing, even though he did go around bragging about his father and other ancestry.

Well, in any case, it wasn't like this was his fault, after all. He'll find a way to get around this. But for now, might as well actually... try... to find this guy. Yay.

Of course, the hustle of the town, and the news of some big overlord or some other sounded pretty big. The general feeling in the town was enough to kind of lift his spirits. Everything was... BIG! Everyone was... LOUD! Wow, he was starting to feel it now. As a rock star musician (As he claims himself to be), he certainly would be rather dumb to not have fun with this situation, no? He decided taking some time off would be just fine, very fine! After all, the walk up here was so hard!

Yamamoto's investigation was, as ever, fruitless.

Talking quietly with bar patrons somewhere in Mourinyale, he tried to find a single scrap of information, cheerfully chatting away and buying drinks for his host, but learning nothing. Sure, his descriptions of his sisters may be off thanks to the passage of time, but unless whoever captured them killed them or gave them a drastic re-design...

No, he shouldn't submit to that train of thought. He wanted to believed they yet lived. Even with no proof, he had to believe...

The young swordsman continued his queries, even if it was obvious no one had any information.

--------------------------------

Somewhere far from Mourinyale, was a brown-haired girl. Said girl was leaning against a tree, panting. She had just finished a training session of hers, which was basically exercise. Running ten miles to this solitary tree on a hill, overlooking a distant village was pretty good, right?

Though her legs were gonna feel like dead weight pretty soon.

Shujiko felt she'd earned a rest anyway. She was drawing closer to her own home town at a fairly quick pace, and she was gonna show everybody how much stronger she'd become! Now, if only there was a suitable rival to grow stronger with...

Ah well, shifting her position somewhat, Shujiko lay to rest and let herself doze off.

A World of Our Own Empty Re: A World of Our Own

Very rarely did people expect a little girl to pull a knife on them. Even more rarely did people expect the girl to actually use it. Let alone kill them with it. This bandit was one of those people. He had not expected the girl to pull a knife, he thought she would be an easy mark to steal from, perhaps even someone who could be sold into the slave trade. It was illegal, but he was a bandit so what did he care about that? The knife, however, he had figured was a bluff, even with the girl's strangely calm expression. So he attacked anyways, intending to knock her out with the hilt of his sword. When she dodged the strike, there was only a moment of horrified realization before she drove the knife through his chest.

It had not been a bluff.

Maylene had no remorse for what she had just done. This man had attacked her. He was bad, there was no other real explanation for his behavior. Blood trickled from around the knife, and she swiftly pulled it out of the bandit's chest, allowing is limp corpse to fall to the ground with a thud. Conviction to kill had been sealed the moment the bandit had attacked her. Had he left before that, it would've been the end of it, unless Maylene had proof he had done other terrible things. But he had attacked, and that act had sealed his fate in her mind. Quietly, standing by the body, she cleaned her knife.

The alleyway was dusty, and she was alone. Maylene sighed to herself. Alone... she had actually approached the man, hoping he was willing to be a traveling companion. Only to find that he was not.

The young elf continued her fruitless search for 'Hell'. Maybe that second bit wasn't a name...maybe she was looking for 'Hell Eubych". But was that a place or a name..? She pondered this, walking on through the streets.

Soon enough, she found herself near a bar. The distinct smell reminded Eldyn of many of the other locations she'd visited for advice on her quest, even if some of the people had decided to give her impromptu dodging lessons alongside their advice. Entering the establishment, the girl glanced around at the patrons. One of them stood out, a man going around talking to a bunch of people.

Eldyn walked over to Yamamoto and cheerfully asked, "Excuse me, do you know where I could find Hell, you bitch?"

Gabriel walked into the nearest bar he could find, a little after a young elf girl (well... she looked young). He couldn't help but overhear the girl ask where Hell was followed by a rather rude "you bitch" while smiling. He wasn't sure whether the girl meant it or was too naive to know what she was saying.

Anyway, the young musician walked up to the bar and began talking to the 'tender after ordering a drink (thank goodness he still had some money left). It was rather difficult looking for answers since he didn't really know anything about who actually committed the crime he was framed for. However he did know one crucial thing...

The criminal had the ability to manipulate nature, just like him.

Thankfully, it wasn't very hard to find the library, seeing as it was quite a large building. Rinbel was quite well-known for it library, the largest in the kingdom and one of the biggest on the continent. As a city full of intellectuals and scholars, one would expect no less of Rinbel. This was, of course, the reason Horan decided to begin his search with the capital. Specifics about the whereabouts of his father's base of operations weren't common knowledge, but perhaps some research would yield results.

Horan was either ignored or just completely unnoticed by everyone in the library save for the librarian himself when he walked in. Horan was perfectly content to be left alone, as soon he would be just as engrossed in his readings as they were. He approached the librarian and quietly asked what section of the library books on Eeryask were. Narrowing down the specific location of Urag's hideout from all of the country of Eeryask would not be a swift process, so he quickly followed the librarian's directions and began his research.

Yamamoto turned to face the elf that addressed him, blinking at her choice of words. What had she just called him...? Well, he couldn't hear any hostility, so it seemed she wasn't looking for a fight.

...Wait, looking for hell?

"...Excuse me?" Yamamoto said blankly.

Aeoli vainly attempted to rebuild her temple. She wasn't entirely sure whether Wind beat Earth or what all, but she was fairly certain it didn't. Her winds simply weren't powerful enough to move the stone back into place, or even out of the way. She kept trying, but tears (or rather, tear-shaped winds) fell from her eyes as she kept at it.

She was never going to finish it at this rate.

A young girl sat atop a strange humanoid creature. A golem of sorts, it was, stomping awkwardly down the streets, though with just enough care not to squash anybody. The capital seemed like the most likely place to search for someone - even if her parents didn't live here, there had to be records or something, right?

Copan narrowly avoided a market stall as it lumbered towards what Nia hoped was a library. Records WERE kept at libraries, right? Regardless, her golem marched onward, hopefully to get Nia a lead on her parents.

"Do you know where I can find Hell, you bitch?" the elf repeated. Did this man mishear her? Or perhaps he just didn't know where it was. She hoped it was the first one, although if it was the second she'd have a reason to talk to some of the other people in the bar, so that wouldn't be too bad either.
