The Devil's Script Empty The Devil's Script

Post by Simply David Tue 19 Feb 2013, 10:26 pm

So the idea I have is this: We take a perfectly ordinary scripter, sitting in his room making rules and arrays and what have you. His goal is to create a video game where a few friends of his, and himself, can play together in a small programmed battlefield using a program he downloaded. He set rules and definitions, limitations and variables, making damn sure nobody could cheat or bypass the rules. The enemies were supposed to be progressively more powerful as the group went along, until they fought a boss. The group would obtain bonuses as they follow along a job-path of their choice.

What he never expected when he began this was that the program he was using to script it in would turn out to be a craft of some devil for the sake of having some fun. While the game creator had intended on making himself in control of the boss and to simply disable himself from the final fight, the program had a minor re-write so that he’d stay active, and then the devil that had created the scripting program would follow his rules as the final boss.

The other aspect to this is that the devil involved in this wasn't entirely malevolent; he had fully intended on allowing them to exit this alive and simply intended on having some fun with some humans on the terms of one of their video games, just more extreme. But to keep things lively, he states to the players that losing means death. After all, didn’t the scripter input commands that if a player loses, they’re out permanently? After confirmation of this from the scripter, the players all continue forward with caution, but end up having fun anyway. After all, they all (or mostly) had intended on playing this game to have fun anyway, and they knew that while it was meant to be hard, the scripter in question had promised them that he didn’t make it impossible for everyone to make it all the way through the game.

The Devil's Script Empty Re: The Devil's Script

Gonna add a few more things here like abilities and stuff to see if I can make things make sense. Suggestions are not only accepted, they are requested. ;P

Now, I'm thinking that each player picks a style of stats (Basically I'll have a few choices) and they start with those choices. They then get one weapon and start off the game with only that. The weapon can be anything from swords to guns but they can't be supernatural or special yet.

After every set of enemies I think I'll just have everyone gain a new bonus out of a set of possible bonuses, and what they pick early on will lock or unlock options later, giving everyone unique classes that only really reveal themselves at the end of the game.

This means that there won't be anyone who is more powerful than everyone else, but there's still plenty of customization. Everyone will be necessary for every group of enemies they fight. I might throw in a plot twist or something later too, who knows. But for now gonna keep this simple. COMBAT AND CHARACTER INTERACTION YEEEAAAAHHHH

As for the actual abilities chosen, I'll have a list of lists. Which is to say, I'll have similar powers and weapons classed together so that you can just go to what you want, and get more detailed from there. There'll be everything from super speed to flight to ultra-fire-ballz-o'-doom. So yeah everyone should be happy, and feel a level of progression as they power up.
