DND Adventure Empty DND Adventure

Post by White Mage Slave Sun 23 Jun 2013, 12:44 am

Though there isn't exactly a plot in mind, there is some interest in having a DND adventure. I will list a bunch of the stuff to look at before you bring your character into play! To make a character in the first place, click here. d20srd.org is great for quick references to all you need. If you want to take a thorough reading of source material, however, http://www.danddweekly.com/guides1.html has a lot of pdfs for your viewing pleasure.

Do note, however, that all you really need to know is how your character functions and how to attack people. The DM will teach you what you need to do as you go along! Before long, you'll remember more rules than you ever wished to learn.

SPECIFIC MECHANIC REFERENCES
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm - The Very Basics of playing DND
http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/equipment.htm -Inventory references! You should probably go shopping before you head out. I will be a lenient GM and give you like 100 GP to work with.
http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/combat.htm - Combat stuff. It's... simpler than it looks I swear...
http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/magicOverview.htm - If you're a magic user, look through the parts that apply to you.
http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/carryingMovementExploration.htm -How to move around and stuff.
http://www.d20srd.org/index.htm - if you can't find whatever, here's the main page for you to start your search.

And now, we'll start with a DND staple.

"You meet in a tavern."

You are inside the Oakton Tavern. It is quite a roomy tavern, large enough that there are multiple sections to it. Obviously there's the bar, where many people are drinking and chatting, as well as tables located throughout the tavern. Against one wall, there is the local Quest Board, where many post requests for adventurers to aid them in exchange for pay. In another section of the tavern, there is a decent sized roped-in arena that is used for duels. Seeing drunkards punch each other in the face is, apparently, great entertainment.

What are you up to right now?

Across from the dueling arena, in a quieter section of the tavern, Coppelia climbed up onto an empty table, dragging a wooden box nearly as big as she was. A little over a foot tall, the living doll was built along dainty lines: long slender limbs, an elegant neck and small head with large purple glass eyes set into the deceptively strong ceramic that made up her body and a tight bun of brown hair at the top of her head, a few curls escaping around her painted face. She was dressed like a whimsical child's idea of a quaint halfling villager in brightly colored skirts that swirled with every move and a crisp white blouse trimmed with fanciful embroidery, the sleeves long and full enough to hide the spiked chain wound around her left arm. With one last heave she got the box up onto the table and propped it open. Once the box was set up she skipped to the center of the table, standing poised and perfectly still the way only animate constructs could. She waited a slow count of eight, then began to dance, always keeping an eye on the collection box in case someone thought they could help themselves to her hard earned coin.

GM POST

Everyone in the bar is immediately quite taken with the fact that holy shit there's a dancing doll in the middle of a table. Not only is this doll dancing, her dance seems to outshine most dances they have ever seen in their lives, short of a lucky few. Immediately, coins start piling into the donation box. One man remarks, "Damn... wish my wife moved like that..."

In the arena, in one corner, a large creature stood facing away from the center of the arena, visibly moving with the rhythm of its breathing. In the center of the arena, a man stood tall and proud and seemed to be declaring something very loudly.

"Behold the Minotaur! Great and ferocious is he, and no man has been able to stand up to him yet tonight! Yet, we have a challenger!" He then waved with his hand, pointing out the man standing in the opposite corner from the Minotaur, "This brave soul has decided he can face the beast and win! Lets see what he can do... against the MINOTAUUUR!" He quickly made his way out of the arena and a bell dinged, followed by the great Minotaur turning around and roaring. It was only a moment before he and the man were arm-in-arm grappling with each other.

GM POST

The Minotaur is clearly a master of the ring. No matter what the man tries, he is able to escape and counter. And yet, it seems many times that the man comes close to winning. The crowd bets more and more money on the both of them, and at last, the minotaur manages to reverse a supposed pin his opponent had and win the match. The crowd's reaction is great, if mixed due to many hoping the human would win. Naturally, the minotaur gets a cut of the bets.

At that point, a red-haired Halfling girl with with blue eyes; and ragged clothes rather timidly walked into the bar. She was rather tired; as she had been walking for quite a while now.

She had wanted to stop at the last town; but she'd been chased out when she walked into the bar with a rather large spider walking next to her.

This time, however, she was keeping Charlotte inside her soul-ball. For reasons Rash did not understand; most people seemed to have something against spiders.

She walked up to the bar, and addressed the bartender.

"Excuse me sir, who should I talk to about getting a room?" she asked.

The thin, old barman took a look at her, stroking his wizard-worthy beard. "You'd be seeing me, naturally. Is it just you? It's a silver piece for the night, though it doesn't come with food. I think I have one room left..."

"Ok, I'd like to see the room before I pay," said Rash.

Though she had no reason to mistrust the man; she had stayed in some rather crummy rooms on the way here. As long as the room had a place to bathe; and wasn't infested with bedbugs; it would pass her inspection.

The barman looks offended for a second, but decides against making a deal out of it. He turns to the side and yells, "Hey, Masika! Get over here!"

A young but beautiful waitress, with shoulder-length black hair and light brown skin, walks over. "Y-yes?" She seems nervous, and her stance is most definitely not of a trained employee.

"Take this halfling up to see the last room we have open. If it meets her... standards, she's staying the night. Oh, and... no one's taken that quest yet, it seems."

Masika seems disappointed. "O-oh... I'll keep working then!" She turns to Rash. "Right this way, up the stairs."

Coppelia finished her dance and bowed before skippnig over to her box of coin and heaving the lid shut. She locked it up, then climbed down from the table, dragging the box after her. Once she was on the ground she hefted the box up onto her shoulders. Making her way carefully through the forest of feet and legs, she stopped at the quest board, looking up at it."....Well, fuck me sideways. How am I supposed to get up there?" The tiny, childlike voice that emerged when she spoke was distinctly at odds with her choice of words.

After standing on her collection box proved to be too small of a boost she looked around at the tavern's patrons."Oi! What's a girl gotta do to get a boost around here?"

"Quest? There's a quest? Tell me about this quest!" said Rash, somewhat eagerly.

In her excitement, she seemed to have completely forgotten about the room. She had left her village looking for some form of adventure to prove herself on; and now it seemed she had found it.

Masika seems surprised that the halfling is interested. "O-oh! Well, it's a quest I put up on the board over here, and..." She notices Coppelia trying her best to get to them. "Ah! Let me help you with that!" She holds her hands open for Coppelia to climb into, so she can lift her up to see the quests.

Rash ran towards the board; narrowly avoiding crashing into several bar patrons.

She then looked up at the board; hoping that it would be a quest in which her monster-taming abilities would come in handy.

Masika blushes at the kiss, because even if it is a doll blowing a kiss at her, it is a very cute doll, and it's aimed at her.

She remembers that Rash is there once she scrambles over. "O-oh right... anyways ma'am, I've put up a quest here... I'm working to help pay off my rent here while I wait for someone to take it. It's, um... this one on the right."

Masika's hands are tied up at the moment, but if you were to read the quest, you would see the following.

WANTED: ADVENTURERS TO HELP WITH EXTERMINATING GOBLIN MENACE

My hometown of Riverside has been destroyed by an unusually organized group of goblins. I fear they have found a new leader. The threat must be eliminated, one way or another. I fear for the safety of the surrounding villages. Should you wish to accept this quest, I have but one more request- take me with you. I must see to this myself, even though I am not combat trained. Please! -Masika

Coppelia leaned forward and read over the notice."Thrice damned goblins. It's always goblins..." She murmured. "Well. I'm small but I can do more than just put on a pretty performance. I'm in if you'll have me. Goblins have a lot of cheek, raiding villages like that. Someone's gotta remind the bastards to stick to their caves!"

"Um...would I have to exterminate them?" said Rash.

The word 'exterminate' made her just a bit uneasy. She didn't really know anything about these goblins; even if they were apparently attacking villages.

Masika looks extremely pleased to hear this. "Thank you! Thank you! It means so much to me to have anyone at all interested..."

The barkeep heard Rash speaking and doesn't look very pleased to hear that response. "It's not like we can just tell goblins, "You're under arrest for the slaughter of an entire village," ya know? Someone's got to do something, even if they're motivated by gold instead of justice."

Rash paused. She wanted to argue with that, but the girl did have a point. Still, she wasn't going to be swayed quite that easily. There had to be a better way than exterminating them.

She needed more information.

"So...are we talking about a goblin village, or goblin war party?" she asked.

Coppelia twirled around to face her and curtsied."Work's work. Not a lot of people take someone my size seriously, so I do what I can get." she replied.

Looking over at Rash from her perch in the girl hands she shrugged."I hate to shit in your sink but goblins don't really do the whole peaceful surrender thing. They're mean, vicious little brutes who'd as soon bite your ankle as talk to you. And sweetie, you don't look like you speak goblin anyway.

Having finished the fight, the great Minotaur reared back and roared, pounding his chest, putting on a last bit of show before the announcer came up to quietly ask him if he's done for now. Midas gave a slight nod, and the announcer made a big to-do about 'the great Minotaur!' and how the show would be taking a break.

Midas went to the bar and got a glass of water, "Ahh, the show. 'Truly a magnificent thing' my teacher would say," Drinking the water, he took a look around. Yet another great town, full of great people. Spectators all around, enjoying his shows, it was a great deal of fun for him. As was habitual at this point, he walked over to the quest board to see if anything caught his interest. He ordinarily would pass off anything that wouldn't give him great glory, but he liked looking anyway.

Ah, it seemed there were others looking for quests. They were particularly small, actually. Was that a child and a doll? How interesting. Such quest takers naturally caught the large creature's interest, "Goblins malo, niño. Fighting them... not fun. No glory in killing small, mean creatures," he smiled, thinking he had greatly educated this child. Though being a Minotaur, his smile may not be the most warm of expressions.

Masika glanced at Rash for a second before looking towards the ground. "I don't know what to call them... they're a group of goblins, being led by a gobin much taller than all the rest. I think that makes him a Hobgoblin? They didn't use to be so vicious, nor well-organized. If we can at least take him down, I think that could be considered quest finished..."

She was surprised that the Minotaur was choosing to drop in. She had seen him around, being an employee, but they hadn't yet spoken. "It isn't really glory that I want... I just want justice for.... for my family, and my village."

Rash stared at the minotaur in awe for a moment. She hadn't expected to find anything like a minotaur so soon after she left home.

She wasn't sure whether the minotaur showing her his teeth was supposed to be a smile or a show of aggression; but it occurred to her that she should probably stop staring at it as if it were from a circus.  It was kind of rude.

Instead, she turned her attention to Masika. The revelation that the goblins weren't always this vicious had her concerned. What if they were being manipulated by a more sinister force? Or even mind controlled?

The possibility of poor, innocent goblins being forced to commit atrocities was one she could not ignore.

"I'll take the quest!" she said. "But I suggest we capture the hobgoblin to get information out of him!"
