World Tournament- Shonen-styled RPG

I found a rules-system meant to emulate shonen-style combat and decided YOU KNOW WHAT. I WANT IN ON THAT.

We will be creating a "world tournament" that YOUR CHARACTERS will be attending. Why? How? With what abilities? MAKE IT UP AND WE'LL TRY TO MAKE AN EPIC STORY TO MATCH YOUR CHARACTERS.

Name: Vera
Appearance: Le Girl
Personality: She has a habit of being somewhat snarky. While quick to insult, it's actually out of shyness caused by a lack of social interaction with other humans. She will probably enjoy friends once she has them, but she is far from looking for them and in fact really just pushes people away with her cold outward appearance. In combat, she drops all emotions and acts with a sort of calm and collected pragmatic approach, with very little talking that isn't some sort of insult towards her opponent.
Backstory: She and her father lived in a cottage in a harshly cold forest. Her father came down with a sickness when she was still very young, dying and leaving her all alone. Anton, an intelligent and powerful creature of the forest, took her in and taught her how to survive in the wild. Because of this upbringing, she's had very little contact with other humans, which has resulted in her not really knowing how to interact with them. She's a descendent of a God, on her mother's side, who favored high mountain peaks and frozen tundra landscapes. This has granted her special ice powers as a result. (I WILL ADD MORE HERE ONCE WE DISCERN HOW THE TOURNAMENT CAME TO BE AND WHY SHE MAY JOIN IT)

Name: Ice God's Template
Key Stat: Savvy
Boosted Ability: Savvy
Description: Surge Technique. Calling upon the sacred magic of the Ice God, Vera's eyes glow a bright blue for a moment and her hair flows back. Upon cast, her body becomes far colder than normal and her body becomes a "template" for the Ice God themself. Because of this, all of her ice magics become more powerful (effectively improving her Savvy).

Description: Counter Technique. Vera commands the water in the atmosphere (or from around her) to freeze over and harden around her opponent, potentially stopping them from moving.

Name: Regn Drekison
Appearance: A tall-ish young man with long, blond hair that some women are jealous of.
Personality: Seems to be calm, cheerful, and kind to everyone. Loves telling jokes and making others smile.  Can be harsh to others while maintaining the cheerful demeanor, his reasoning being that the gods can be harsh and kind with the same movements and so must he.
Backstory: A priest of the god Thundor, Regn has entered the tournament in order to win cash prizes and use them for charitable purposes.

Name: Alda Johnson

Appearance:

Personality: A sweet, if somewhat naïve girl. Genuinely believes what her father preaches; though sometimes she wonders if he really needs the bank accounts of the faithful. Her greatest fear is returning to the life she had before.

Backstory: Her father was a con artist; and often either tricked or forced her to participate in his many schemes. However, one day, out of the blue, he found religion. He dropped the miracle workout scam he'd been running previously; and used his money to found The House of the Scientificated Lords Of Love.

Awed by her father's newfound faith; she threw herself wholeheartedly into his newfound teachings. Around this time she somehow managed to gain special abilities almost completely by accident. Noticing the potential for this; her father made her the "official living saint of the House of The Scientific Lords of Love"...which basically made her the cult's mascot.  He then entered her in a fighting tournament to gain publicity.

Name: Krotud the Cowardly
Appearance: As a member of the Goblin Race, Krotud has green skin and red eyes, as well as black hair that he has done in dreadlocks. He wields a long, slightly bent, unidentifiable bone as a weapon and the top half of a dragon's skull as his shield (strapped onto his left arm with leather). His teeth are visibly incredibly sharp when he opens his mouth. He's a little short, but fairly stocky with impressive abs and muscles. He wears iron plate armor that only covers his shoulders and lower half, as well as chainmail underneath his leg armor, with his upper body exposed. If he's wearing clothes for a less combat oriented situation, he actually has a nice goblin-tailored suit that covers his whole body and looks quite fit.

Personality: Abrasive like any Goblin, at least at first. Should one get past the fact he's a goblin and the fact he's a bit aggressive, they will find that he's actually quite a nice guy and rather benevolent. In fact, he'd probably be very popular among humans as a human, but his behavior is so far from normal as a goblin that he doesn't quite fit in most of the time. His appearance would normally get him in trouble among humans, but he actually made a nice home just outside of a village where at least a few villagers will visit him fairly frequently since he farms a lot. 

Backstory: Born as the son of a Goblin Chief, he had expectations placed upon him from an early age. He certainly had the strength to lead Goblins, and he even seemed to have decent strategy in leading them. Unfortunately, his father was killed by another Goblin who had proven himself stronger, and as a showcasing of his brutality (as is normal in their society), Krotud was next on the list to be killed. However, he had been out on a mission to kill a dragon that had been causing trouble (along with a large party of goblins at his side). Despite coming home victorious, wielding the dragon's bones as his very weapons, he was confronted by the powerful new Goblin Chief. Krotud was tired, and would normally have been outmatched anyway, so he knew he would die. Instead of accepting this, he ran. He ran far, escaping his goblin tribe to get to a faraway land. Due to his own cowardice, he has taken on the name "Cowardly" until he can return to his tribe, to kill the Goblin Chief who killed his father.

Despite this particularly thematic backstory, he's actually grown quite accustomed to living near humans, having befriended many. Due to this, he's actually set up a farm outside a human village. Due to his farm, he's actually a part of their economy and has become quite popular in the village, but he still rarely goes there in fear of causing the guard to get frisky. He doesn't mind, he has plenty of friends who come visit him. He still wants to remove his mantle of "Coward" though, and trains for the day he'll return to the Goblins. Though whether he'll actually take over as the new Goblin Chief, well, that's another story...

Description: Offense Technique. Krotud strikes with his obnoxiously long bone club, hitting hard and surprisingly fast.

Name: Bone Boomerang
Key Stat: Brawn
Defense Stat: Savvy
Description: Offense Technique. Krotud throws his bone club at his opponent, and then through a sort of magic that is attached to it, it will spin through the air and return to him. The return trip can also hit the enemy, making it seem like two attacks (In practice it's still one move though of course).
Power Cost: 4

Name: Ruby Goldvein
Appearance: A teenage (17-18ish) girl with long red hair and yellow eyes. Her armor is rather minimal, seeming to be for the sake of not being nude than for the sake of protection.
Personality: A prideful being, Ruby demands respect, and yet seems to not give any. She is very focused on her goal, and can hardly be swayed by other people's sob-stories. She also has no concept of shame, seeing it as a tool of control by lesser beings.
Backstory: Ruby belonged to a clan of dragons, but they were all wiped out by a legendary dragonslayer. Swearing revenge, she has taken human form, deciding that it would be more useful to her in the long run to compact her power and form. She has entered the tournament to prove her strength to herself before seeking out her foe.
Power Stat: Brawn, but she likes to stay balanced.
