Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
The world's creations can be classified into five things:
In the world of Embrosia, there are many gods and Heroes.
So many in fact, it is difficult to keep up with them all. Therefore, the Gods have begun a challenge.
All gods in existence shall compete to see who among them shall recieve a seat among "The Seven". The Seven will be a council of the seven most popular (and therefore most powerful) Gods. This has resulted in many violent disputes as well as competitions of beauty or talent.
-------------
You can make any type of character you want, but stay within realistic limitations according to what I put here.
---------------
Inanimate objects include trees and rocks and swords, as well as magical items that aren't 'artifact' level, meaning they'd have low tier magic effects that aren't worth mentioning in history but can still be practical or useful in some way. This could include an amulet that resists magic, or a staff that amplifies low level magic into higher level magic.
-------------
Legendary Artifacts are objects used by Heroes or Gods, or created by Gods. They are often handed down and eventually used by a Hero who has been deemed worthy.
They often hold amazing abilities beyond that of the object they are similar to. Such as a blade that can kill 100 enemies in a single slash, or a lance that always pierces the heart, or a Tree that is taller than every other tree and has healing properties for those around it.
-----------------
Description of the Gods:
A god gains power from fame. A God becomes famous for their deeds. However, a God is limited in what they can do to the Sphere of Influence they affect. Therefore, they can be infamous and gain power from how much people hate them if that's their position.
Also, they can only gain this power from 'the races of humanity'. Vampires, Demons, and Angels will not count, as these are creatures that follow the Gods they serve with absolute (usually) loyalty.
A God covers a single "Sphere of Influence". This can be 'humanity', 'health', 'Death', 'Vampirism', 'Sin', or 'Virtue'. Or anything else you can come up with really. There are hundreds of Gods, therefore hundreds of Spheres of Influence. However, some are very minor in their roles and don't stand a chance to get into "The Seven" because they cover so little influence.
HOWEVER! They have a limit of power. The amount of followers they have influences the amount of effect they can have on the world within their Sphere.
-----------------------------
'Average People' includes every form of life that is not a God or Hero (aside from Inanimate objects like Trees).
The Average Person is someone who is not known for who they are or what they've done aside from their close friends and family. Maybe they are the hero of a single town, but that still doesn't make them a Hero.
The Average Person is capable of up to what's considered 'class 4' magic, physical feats limited to their race, and the use of any non-legendary weapon.
The average person can become a Hero by performing Deeds appointed them by Gods. Rarely, someone might be so powerful and capable that they can perform deeds and become Heroes without the help of Gods.
Some races that exist in this world:
Human
Dwarf
Elf
Vampire (There are a few kinds, as the only vampires that exist follow a specific God that created their initial existence) (non-humanity)
Lycanthrope (There are a few kinds, as the only Lycanthropes to exist follow a specifc God that started their initial existence) (Some kinds count as Humanity, some are non-humanity)
Demon (These follow the God of Hell) (Note that this God does not cover Death but only the afterlife of those who Death sends to Hell) (non-humanity)
Angels (These follow the Goddess of Heaven) (Note that this Goddess does not cover Death but only the afterlife of those who Death sends to heaven) (non-humanity)
Minions (Beings that follow Death's will) (non-humanity)
Trolls
Goblins
Orcs
Dragons (non-humanity)
Boars (non-humanity)
Dogs (non-humanity)
--------------------------------
"Heroes" are people who have achieved Great Fame through their Deeds. It is difficult for a non-humanity being to become a Hero.
Heroes are capable of higher magic, wielding great artifacts, or even creating great Artifacts by being the one wielding a weapon. They also often achieve physical capabilities that far surpass that of everyone else within their race.
The most important fact of Heroes is that to be a Hero they must perform great Deeds. These Deeds include things such as slaying dragons, saving entire countries single-handedly, taking down an entire country or an army, or simply becoming amazingly beautiful and therefore loved by many.
A Hero becomes more powerful through more Deeds, and performing 12 Deeds will result in becoming 'Legendary' which results in semi-immortality, meaning they can't die from age or average sickness. By performing 21 Deeds, they become a God, and therefore eligable for a seat among the 'seven' in addition to 'true immortality'. The most famous Gods are often previous Heroes.
Unlike Gods, Heroes can become famous (and therefore more powerful) through non-humanity creatures. This is because if the entire race of Angels is afraid of a Human, it is something worth mentioning.
--------------------------
Magic is classified like so:
Class 1: can hardly be called magic
Class 2: Can repair small things and move stuff around.
Class 3: Can do magic that is almost useful in combat or repair big things that were not broken through magic.
Class 4: Combat and magical enchantments are available. Healing is advanced enough to heal larger cuts but can't reattach limbs.
Class 5: Combat Magic is advanced and Healing Magic can reatach a limb if the limb is available. Combat Magic can even do so much as shoot lightning or create storms.
Class 6: Necromancy and highly advanced Healing would be classified here. Magic is near Miraculous, requiring very little in exchange whereas everything below this requires equivalent exchange.
Class 7: Miracles of the Gods. Only Gods and Heroes who are world famous can perform this level of magic.

Name: Sortine
Sphere of Influence: War and strategy
Gender: female
Appearance: Fiery red hair; blue eyes. Tends to be taller than the other goddesses when they manifest in humanoid form.
Followers: Humans; particularly soldiers and generals.
Fame/Infamy: Greatly loved
Artifacts they're known for: Has a fondness for magical spears. At least one story recounts her using an invisible spear to defeat her brothers.
Champion: Katerina
Bio: One of the many children of the God of Glory; and only daughter to the Goddess of Cruelty. At one time, she was a minor goddess of strategy; and a servant of her three brothers who filled the domain of war. Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Marcella
Sphere of Influence: Fertility
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Followers: Every race that relies on reproduction to sustain themselves.
Fame/Infamy: Greatly loved
Artifacts they're known for: N/A
Champion: Khloe
Bio: Marcella is one of the oldest living Goddesses. She goes so far back that none truly know if she started as a hero or not as most gods tend to do. A lot of her followers believe her to have existed since the beginning of time. Because of her long life and connections to fertility, she has had many children throughout the ages. These kids shared her strange cat-like traits and soon became a race of their own known as the Felis. Recently, she has chosen her current youngest child to be her champion. Many were surprised by this development as she had not chosen a champion for over two centuries. No one knows what is going on in the Fertility Goddess' head, least of all her own daughter.
_______________________________________________
Name: Khloe
Race: Felis/Demigod (Technically half-human but is considered Felis regardless)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Deeds Completed: 4
Artifacts: A cloak that provides protection from dark magic and mental manipulation, given to her by her mother.
Weapons: N/A
Items: Standard supplies for heavy traveling.
Fighting Style: She's a magical warrior who relies heavily on her magic and hand-to-hand combat. She can magically augment her body to make it stronger, faster, and more durable. Her signature spell is to wrap her hands in blue energy that makes it more claw-like and dangerous.
Personality: She comes off as a very serious and driven young woman, but she is actually quite gentle and almost motherly towards those in her care. Because of her young age and fairly secluded upbringing, she is actually more naive about the world than one would think. Four deeds later, she still has a lot more to learn about herself and her surroundings.
Bio: A child born after one of her mother's many visits to a Human village, she was raised to become a great hero and champion for her mother. She is very devoted to her kind mother and quick to punish those who wrong Marcella. She has had many older brothers and sisters, but she has only met a few of them and there are none she is particularly close to. As of now, she is the last child Marcella has conceived and the one she chosen in particular to be her champion.

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Katerina Areleous
Race: demigod
Age: 19
Gender: female
Appearance:
Deeds Completed: 5
Artifacts: None.
Weapons: A bow and arrow. And a knife. Just in case.
Items: lyre
Fighting Style: Shooting stuff, then running away. Has made dodging and running away into an art form. When she absolutely has to fight; she prefers to take down her enemy as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Personality: Doesn't like dangerous situations; and would much rather sit around and play music than fight. Some might even call her a coward. However, when she decides to fight; she doesn't mess around.
Bio: Daughter of the God of Glory and a mortal who liked to hunt big game. However, her godly heritage didn't really give her any divine protection; or cool powers; or a even a single magic item. The only "gift" Glory gives his children is a lifetime of trouble. Whenever something bad was going down; she would inevitably end up getting caught up in it. Dangerous situations seemed to be magnetically attracted to her.
She was eventually driven from her home as more and more monsters showed up attempting to eat her. Even after she left; her luck didn't change. Every village she arrived at seemed to be waiting for some kind of hero to save them from a group of bandits, or a small-time tyrant, or a monster. She eventually fled civilization altogether; hoping that would be enough to escape her "curse". That was when the Goddess Sortine appeared to offer her a deal...

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Minz
Sphere of Influence: Kindness to one's neighbor
Gender: Female
Appearance: Two words: One Cool Hat
Followers: Angels of Kindness, which is a particular sect of angels. She is prayed to by those who seek a kindness done for them, and prayed to after one does a good deed, as she has promised to return goodness to those who have done good for others. She is not widely known however, so many overlook their chances to pray to her.
Fame/Infamy: Loved
Artifacts they're known for: Ring of Happiness (Ring that breaks depression), Staff of the Savior (Specific use of pulling someone out of a dangerous situation by teleporting them to the user's side)
Champion: N/A (Alternatively: Everyone who seeks to do good deeds)
Bio: She's been around for a great deal of time, born to two other gods who never were noteworthy enough to be considered for the primary pantheons. However, she has been moving herself up as of late with the acts of various angels she has taken under her wing, convincing them to help mortals over the past few centuries to make a name for herself as one who is very helpful.
----
Name: Kabshiel (Kabby or Shiel for nicknames)
Race: Angel
Age: 77
Gender: Female
Appearance: Cutie~
Deeds Completed: 1
Artifacts: none
Weapons: none
Items: Basic dress, access to a hammerspace that lets her reach food given to her from her goddess.
Fighting Style: Creates solid light capable of containing even large creatures. This light is difficult to break out of. Solid light can also be used to create platforms of safety by making it soft enough to land on even from great heights. She can blast people with the light she creates should the need arise, firing it off like a large laser. When people are hurt, she can also shine her light on a wound to heal it. Her magic is generally around class 6.
Personality: She is fairly incompetent, but she means well. She loves helping others, doing the good work of her goddess Minz wherever she goes. She scolds people who do acts she deems unjust, and greatly enjoys showing off her love of justice, making a big show of her entrance should she decide to reveal herself to help others (Which is often). She has been known to randomly show up when someone is attacked by highwaymen, making a big entrance, only to have the bandits make their escape while she attempts to make her impression (Or otherwise get attacked and greatly injured). She refuses to let down her Lady Minz, and this has led her to many misadventures.
Bio: Born to a small group of angels who follow the Lady Minz, she has grown disconnected from many other angels. There is a ceremony that has been performed by her people for centuries, which upon completed accounts as a Great Deed. This ceremony is more like a quest, where the end result is that they can make use of the Light Magics specifically branded by the Goddess of Good Deeds. Angels are then to seek out someone to protect making use of this magic.
Kabshiel, however, has had great trouble finding someone who would accept her as their guardian angel. She tends to follow people around and cause trouble for them, and after much apologizing she leaves them. This has happened more times than she'd like to share. Her life has essentially been her trying to find someone to protect, and failing at it, for decades.
----
Name: Rick
Race: Human
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Appearance: Go ahead, get back up. I'll kill you a second time too.
Deeds Completed: 7
Artifacts:
Double Slayer: Blade imbued with magic to kill the undead. It leaves red streaks in the air where it swings due to a deep glow.
Dragon's Breath Lantern: A lantern with an intricate dragon's head design. If one drops any sort of flame into the dragon's mouth (such as a spark from flint), it will unleash a gale of flames identical to the fires of a dragon's breath. Fire is very effective against most undead creatures, and dragon's fire is very difficult to put out with regular means.
Eye of the Gods: His right eye was imbued with the ability to recognize the undead on sight should it be active, as well as granting him a general knowledge that undead are in the area and the general direction of them while it's active. However, it is very tiring to leave on so he only activates it when necessary. It forces his eye to change colors when in use as well.
Weapons: Beyond his artifacts, he also carries a silver dagger and a silver spike.
Items: Satchel on his side that carries basic survival tools, and his spike. A small image that's heavily faded, but one can still make out a small child and his parents.
Fighting Style: Rick makes use of quick agile slashes when using his sword, short jabbing techniques with his dagger and spike combo, and generally fights with agility over power. If he's forced to fight hand to hand, he is only capable of basic self defense as he dodges around enemy attacks and tries to get to his weapons or to simply escape. He rarely fights anything other than undead, and more specifically vampires, so he's at a loss when fighting any other sort of monster or a talented warrior. Furthermore, some vampires have given him trouble in the past by pulling out exotic weaponry he's not used to fighting, but typically he's triumphed over such fights, but sustains heavy injury.
Personality: Riock is an angsty loner, by default. However, he isn't all bad. He'll talk when spoken to, and while he's defensive of his past, he doesn't push people away with a bad attitude. Rather, while he tries to allow others to befriend him, he simply puts forth no effort. People have trouble actually getting him to contribute anything, and he tends to just sort of 'be there' when anyone tries to get him to have fun. He generally looks down on those who 'have enough free time to have fun', and thinks that the only thing worth doing is killing things that should have been dead from the start. Should he reveal his true motives, the truth is he lives for vengeance against the vampire who turned his parents, and he'll stop at nothing.
Bio: As a child, his parents were good people, or so that's how he remembers them. He's since learned more about their pasts, but he doesn't hold it against them. They took good care of him, so whatever they were involved in is of no consequence. What was of consequence, however, was their deaths.
While he was asleep in his house, his parents were assaulted by a vampire. There was a lot of noise, and it naturally woke him up. When he went to check on his parents, he found them bleeding from their necks. As if this wasn't enough to traumatize him, they then stood up and looked down on him with eyes glowing red like they intended to kill him as well. Fear struck him and he ran from his home, and sought for help. He eventually returned with a local guard who he knew, but the only sign of his parents left in the house was their blood.
Later in his life he trained in swordsmanship and sought the help of the God of Vengeance, and through a short trial earned the rights to be a Champion of Vengeance. However, this was not a title he wanted people to know him by, so he never spoke of his specific allegiance. Despite performing three deeds given him by the God of Vengeance to kill various vampire lords, he never brought glory to the god. Furious, the God sent him on a suicide mission. This was the mission that truly brought him fame, as he managed to bring back the head of a vampire that was centuries' old, and laid it at the front of the temple of the God of Vengeance. This pleased the god, and he was released of his duties.
However, this fourth deed was not his last, as he went on to perform acts on his own. He managed to turn self-given goals into deeds, one of which was the slaying of his own parents. In his mind, they should have been dead long ago, and he was simply helping them along. He continues his vampire hunts, seeking to take down the one with glowing red eyes identical to those his parents wore.

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Helius
Sphere of Influence: Glory
Gender: male.
Appearance: (Some Gods are so beautiful that to look at them is the same as going blind)
Followers: There are many temples to him across the land. Some temples to the less popular gods include alters to him. Because sometimes even gods need all the help they can get.
Fame/Infamy: Most Loved
Artifacts they're known for: Doesn't give magical hand outs to mortals; and doesn't use them himself.
Champion: Hasn't needed a champion for a long time. The last champion of his was one of the most famous.
Bio: One of the earliest gods; said to have fallen to the Earth from the sky; and slammed his face into the Moon on the way down.
Once freed an ancient beast that even the gods feared just so some ladies could watch him wrestle it...well, that and he needed a new rug.
Put said beast back away by tossing a continent at it. The upside down continent has since been plagued with earthquakes.
He arranged for the events that led to Sortine crushing her brothers' pride; and becoming goddess of war. Why? He hadn't seen any gods fighting each other in ages.
He's considered the maddest of the gods for good reason.

Name: Imara
Sphere of Influence: The Hunt
Gender: Female
Appearance: Do not test my patience
Followers: Any who go hunting either pray to Imara or the 'other god' related to hunting. However, Imara's name is the most invoked.
Fame/Infamy: Well Loved
Artifacts they're known for: (Incomplete list) Elder Longbow (arrows never miss), Luring Bait (Special bait that, when left out, attracts ferocious prey to be hunted, or perhaps hunted by depending on skill)
Champion: Theron. Previous to Theron, she had taken one who sought the glory in the hunt, so some have been confused on her motives.
Bio: She was once the demigod child of Marcella, a regular mortal in an age where several heroes were already known for becoming gods. She, herself, had but one goal in life however: The Hunt.
She was so fascinated by it, that she led over 20 "Legendary Hunts" that are still told in epic tales, passed down by bards and families that were involved. These legendary hunts gave way to her becoming a Goddess in her own right, and she now leads The Hunt in a more divine way, giving favor those who invoke her name before a particularly treacherous hunt.

Followers: lycanthropes, and some humans. Those who have pets tend to pray to her, especially dog-lovers.
Fame/Infamy: Well loved, and also well feared.
Artifacts they're known for: none
Champion:
Bio: Was once a mortal priestess of Imara who had the gall to tell off Helias when he crashed at the temple of her goddess; and made a mess of the place. Helias, not being one to take totally justified criticism from a mortal; turned her into a wolf in retaliation.
Imara took pity on her, however, and sent her on a quest to regain her humanity. After a long and perilous journey; she eventually regained it. However, she retained some wolf-like traits.
Afterwards, she became the nature goddess' champion; and eventually became a renowned hero. Her deeds were so great that she was eventually invited to join the ranks of the goddesses.
However, she never forgot her humiliation at the hands of Helias. Whenever she sees the imprint of his face on the moon; she becomes so angry that she turns into a gigantic wolf; and chases him across the land.

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Jewel (She HATES her name, so she introduces herself as Jee)
Race: Felis
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Appearance: *Grumble Grumble*
Deeds Completed: 0
Artifacts: An axe that she thinks is an inactive artifact of some god of war. She never says the same god twice when bragging about it, making it obvious she has no idea how good it may or may not be beyond it having obviously good craftsmanship.
Weapons: Other than the axe, she has an array of small daggers that she finds much easier to use in a fight.
Items: The basic supplies that are necessary for taking a freshly killed animal and making it edible.
Fighting Style: While she is practicing to get better with her axe, she still finds it difficult to use and typically relies on her daggers in a real fight or when hunting animals. Her dagger skills are very advanced considering her age, allowing her to keep up in a fight even with a skilled soldier. Her fighting style is not necessarily straight up however, and she makes use of 'hunting' tactics where she hides and strikes from the shadows. Her tactics with the axe revolve around swinging it with ferocious power and speed, creating wide sweeping arcs that would be fairly deadly for most who get caught in the way. This is far more straightforward than what she normally uses, which is part of why it's hard for her.
Personality: Grumpy and bratty, she hates authority and hates her grandma. However, she is a huge fan of her 'aunt', Imara, and what she stands for. She would rather hunt down animals and feed her village than get involved with the complicated process that is giving birth, or at least that's how she puts it. She's friendly with others who are her age, and has wide eyed wonder for great warriors she meets. However, she gets really upset when she's told she can't possibly match up to a fully grown warrior. She has every intention of proving people wrong and becoming a great hunter!
Bio: She was born the granddaughter of Marcella, goddess of Fertility. Her life was very simple, and very boring, at least at first. However, she took an interest in the Goddess Imara when she was given the unique chance to meet her temporarily when her father was going to go out hunting. Apparently the two were half-siblings. This brief meeting led to her seeking training in ways of combat.
While she was out exploring once, she found a seemingly special axe stuck in the stump of a tree. However, she had no idea what it did or whose it was. So she did the first thing that came naturally... she took it as a sign of the gods that it was now hers, and took it right out of that stump for herself! That, along with her knife training, has gotten her to the point that she feels cocky enough to go out on her own. She may not be alone for long, however...

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Theron
Race: Human
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Deeds Completed: 6
Artifacts: Mask of Concealment; His masks conceals his presence as long he is not touched.
Weapons: A bow and arrow
Items: Light traveling supplies despite traveling A LOT
Fighting Style: Theron is a stealthy individual who tends to avoid direct combat. When he does get engaged in combat, he can quickly notch and fire his arrow in quick succession and with great precision. He also knows simple magic to enchant his arrows with special effects. He also knows spells to help with tracking, but more often than not he doesn't need it.
Personality: Theron is a gentle boy with a lot of respect for life. He only hunts what he or others need to survive and will always pay respects to the creature he killed. While more wise and spiritual than most his age, he is still a child who loves to have fun and goof off. He, surprisingly, has a lot of friends amoung the wildlife.
Bio: Theron was an unexpected choice for the champion of the hunt, seeing how he can act very childishly and has a great distaste for hunting for the sport of it. However, it is because of his great respect for the animals that he kills that he was chosen. He wasn't someone seeking glory through hunting, he truly understood the importance of the hunt and the animals who gave their lives for others to survive.

Name: Ulric
Race: Lycan
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Deeds Completed: 0
Artifacts: N/A
Weapons: Dual swords
Items: N/A
Fighting Style: Ulric is an agile fighter who relies of quick slashes from his dual swords to take down the opponent. When that isn't enough, he will rely on various stages of his wolf transformation to overpower his enemy. The first stage gives him light wolf-like features as well as increase his physical abilities. The second stage covers his body in fur and makes him look like how you would imagine a werewolf to look. He is strengthen further in this state. The final stage of transformation is to become a fairly large white wolf. In this state, he relies of high agility and powerful jaws to kill the enemy.
Personality: A distant, gruff young man whose idea of friendly conversation is to snark at the other person. Underneath this demeanor, he has a good heart and is always looking to do good, but fear of his nature as a Lycan has caused people to treat him different so in turn he exudes that image they imprinted on him. He can be kind to others but first they must gain his trust and treat him just as kindly.
Bio: Born a Lycan rather than just bitten like most, he lost his mother as a baby and was brought into a human village to be raised. His childhood was mostly okay until his nature as a lycan was exposed. That's when people started to treat him differently out of fear. This attitude towards him cause the boy to decide to leave the village as soon as he was old enough. He has been traveling the world since, unable to locate fellow lycans or find a home that will accept him.

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Achilles 'Akky'
Race: Human
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Appearance: +1 scar on chin
Deeds Completed: 10
Artefacts: None, not including the sword.
Weapons: Brimazō - a somehow metal sword that was fashioned from the teeth of the Nemean Lion. The claws were able to skin the invulnerable lion's hide.
Items: None, although he might find something interesting on the Hydra's body back at home.
Fighting Style: It tends to adapt to whatis trying to kill him this time he's fighting at that time but he prefers a sword and shield (a big thick shield). Fast, strong and powerful, Achilles' abilities have been honed during his various deeds and by him learning not to be killed by shit that the gods do to him. Above all is his ability to just not die. An ability that has increased with his hero status, Achilles seems to have had an abnormal amount or resistance to blood loss, poisons and other methods of death since anyone can remember.
Personality: Despite his apparent fearlessness, Achilles does have a healthy fear of death. Although it has been numbed slightly by the gods trying to kill him off, he can often be caught steeling himself before doing something stupid. He has no real desire to become immortal or renown but also has a very big problem with saying no and leaving people in trouble when he could help them. Despite his aversion to being killed, Achilles doesn't mind cracking a few jokes in the face of adversity although the gods don't find them funny usually. He is rather tenacious, a trait usually admired by the gods but one that they seem to find particularly annoying. Not against whining like a child.
Bio: Since he was old enough to not poo himself, Achilles' father seemed to encourage his son's resistance to death by hurling pitchforks and other farming instruments at him and telling him to dodge ('If you can dodge a pitchfork you can dodge a spear!"). Achilles was raised to be a soldier, as his father thought that a head start would lead to his son becoming a respected soldier and that he would rise through the ranks and become a nobleman of some sort. Achilles was also expected to help on his father's farm, and did so with no complaint - in fact, a young Achilles would have rather stayed his whole life as a farmhand, where his greatest trouble was irate bulls.
One day, around Achilles' 16th birthday, a giant golden lion appeared on the farm. The remains of a previous challenger still around its mouth, the lion ended up killing both Achilles' parents. Stricken with grief and rage the young man cursed the gods and attacked the invulnerable lion, killing it with a pitchfork to the mouth in the name of his father.
For a year the orphaned Achilles tended to his farm until one day the gods decided that little things (such as putting 30 years worth of shit into the stables or freeing the farm's most dangerous bull during winter when it had snowed) were not enough in revenge for his rudeness and directed the hydra to his livestock. The monster killed them all when Achilles decaptitated it six times and the extra heads targeted the cattle. Eventually he defeated the monster with the help of the lion's invulnerable skin, after which he decided to leave his village.
Achilles had become slightly famous for his deeds, and accomplished more whilst he travelled, despite the fact that the gods had confiscated his lion skin, which they blamed for his killing of the hydra - he promptly stole the armour and horse of a spoiled prince who coerced him into stealing golden apples from nymphs. After this, neither nymphs nor the prince liked Achilles all that much.
He had a sword fashioned from the lion's claws by a master blacksmith in exchange for the intact body of a "Golden Deer" which belonged to one of the gods (not that Achilles knew this). This deed took Achilles an entire year - not that he noticed.
He then became famous in this town also so he left, although in his year in the wilderness he had grown even more famous, as well as a beard which he shaved with his new sword, giving him a cool looking scar which became the subject of stories over how he got it - people took his dry recounting of the actual event as a modest joke.

He then became famous in this town also so he left, although in his year in the wilderness he had grown even more famous, as well as a beard which he shaved with his new sword, giving him a cool looking scar which became the subject of stories over how he got it - people took his dry recounting of the actual event as a modest joke.

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Sextilius Porcius
Race: Demigod/vampire
Age: 25
Gender: male
Appearance:
Deeds Completed: 7
Artifacts: Has a shield that disorients anyone who stares directly at it.
Weapons: Has a magical spear that causes the blood from any wounds it creates to flow towards the spearhead. Is currently searching for a sword that can supposedly kill "anything that was once mortal". Also carries a completely ordinary short sword.
Items:
Fighting Style: Was trained in a variety of fighting styles by his father. However, his preferred method is to wear down his enemy with a thousand small cuts.
Personality: Believes strongly in justice, and morality. Unfortunately, his idea of "justice" involves killing anyone that doesn't agree with his idea of morality. The list of things he considers to be immoral is so long that listing them here would take months. He really enjoys killing to the point that one could argue that his "morals" are just an excuse to kill people.
Bio: The son of the God of Combat, and a mad woman. His father disappeared from his life after that; returning only on his twelfth birthday. When he was twelve, his father abducted him; and left him with a former hero.
He then spent the next ten years of his life undergoing a brutal training regimen that was designed to groom him into a hero. When his mentor decided he was ready; he was sent on a quest to rescue a village from an evil monster.
He successfully slew the monster. And the humans he deemed were helping the monster by providing it with a steady food supply. Which included the entire village.
He then went across the land; slaughtering anyone he believed to be evil; and gathering a small band of followers. Even his father became disgusted with his actions; and arranged for him to be killed by another demigod. That seemed to be the end of it...except that he returned a few days later. And was somehow a vampire.
Since then he's been lying low; waiting for the right chance to strike.

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Peltas
Sphere of Influence: combat; melee. The battlefield.
Gender: male
Appearance: (Some Gods are so beautiful that to look at them is the same as going blind)
Followers: His worshipers have dwindled quite a bit; though there is at least one city state where he's still the most popular god.
Fame/Infamy: Known
Artifacts they're known for: Has a large arsenal of magical weapons he carries around in a large sack. Occasionally throws them down in a battlefield to make things more interesting.
Champion: None at the moment.
Bio: He and his brothers were ones the de-facto gods of war; with their sister as a minor goddess of strategy. They favored their own children too much; and allowed them to conquer and pillage across the last without suffering consequences. This angered their younger sister; who decided to strip them of the title.
How she accomplished this is unknown; though there are several interesting stories in which she somehow traps them; and refuses to release them until they surrender their position as Gods of War.
The important part of the story, however, is what happened afterwards; He watched as his sister arranged for the destruction of the empire his children were foolishly attempting to build. In his grief, he begged her to leave them one city.
So Sortine decided to leave them a small village; far removed from the rest of the city-states. The sons of Peltas and his two brothers fled there when their empire fell apart. With help from the three former gods of war; they turned that village into a mighty city. When the city was finished; they built Three Great Temples to the three gods of the city. However, they refused to build a temple to the Goddess of War; so Sortine made sure they would forever be surround by enemies.
And that's how Peltas became the God of the City of Phalanx.

Re: Great Heroes and Gods of the Ages
Name: Suuba Warrenshield
Race: Goblin
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Deeds Completed: 1
Artifacts: Ancestor's Ring - A ring that can summon the spirits of Suuba's dead family to fight. She can currently summon up to nine goblin spirits, armed variably with daggers, clubs or slingshots. They can't take as much punishment as the living, and when one is killed again, she can't summon it back for an hour.
Weapons: A dragonbone club, a slingshot and a sack of rocks for ammo.
Items: A cloak made of dragonskin, large enough to cover her completely and a dragon-tooth necklace.
Fighting Style: Lets her family take the hits while offering support with her slingshot. Generally aims for the eyes or crotch.
Personality: A peppy and outgoing goblin who legitimately wants to help people. She's always smiling and kind, and hates seeing people cry. She tries not to dwell on the past, and will try to help other people with their emotional problems, because they reminder of her own not-very-fun past. She still has trouble sleeping sometimes.
Bio: Once there was a dragon who lived on a mountain. Every day he swooped down to the caves to gobble up the goblins that lived there. For decades the goblins lived in fear of the cruel dragon, hiding in their holes to protect themselves.
They thought the dragon was invincible. Until one day, a brave goblin went to face the dragon. He returned, barely alive, and had failed to kill it. But he brought a trophy - a tooth, torn from the mouth of the monster. Inspired, many goblins banded together to fight it. But the dragon struck first. They were slaughtered as it descended upon them, blowing fire into the caves. Eventually only one goblin was left.
As the young goblinette, the last survivor of the massacre, gazed up into the dragon's maw, she dropped to her knees and wept. The beast made to swallow her whole. Then it's throat was torn open.
She didn't know when she'd grabbed the tooth, but she slashed wildly with it, slicing her way out of the dragon's throat even as she was swallowed. In her rage she began cutting the dragon with its own fang, tearing it apart and eating it to survive. By the time she'd run out of dragon-meat she'd already fashioned a cloak, club, and necklace from its remains. And she'd found a ring within its belly.
After speaking with her ancestors, she left to explore the world with renewed purpose, and to help those who could not help themselves. That was two years ago. She hasn't really done anything world-shattering since then.
