Sagen City, a small coastal city on the western coast of Japan. Normally, it's not particularly interesting. It's a decent place to live, there's some good restaurants, but it's not a particularly active spot(at least, not any more then any other small city). The crime rate is even lower then the rest of the country. It's a quiet city, and one that's not anywhere you would expect a major crime to take place.

Until now.

Last night, a grisly sight was discovered. A young couple, gruesomely murdered. But the worst part was that this hasn't been the first murder. Over the past two months, there have been eight known murders. Each one has had a note left with them. Each note is identical, but utterly untraceable.

"Hello,

My my, you've found my handiwork again. It will be coming soon, do you know that? Good luck finding me before then...

Caravaggio"

The law enforcement is baffled, and the population of Sagen City is scared. But there is one group that has some kind of lead...

For Caravaggio is a magus. It's distinct, faintly. The murders are the work of some kind of magecraft. Seeking to put a stop to this, the Mage's Association has sent magi to track Caravaggio down. In addition, local magi have made some investigation. After all, three of Caravaggio's eight victims have been magi.

Other groups, still, have felt the need to investigate...

So, yes! This is a Nasuverse RP, that isn't about a Grail War! It takes place two years after F/SN, but other then that all info in the setting is above. The main drive of the plot is catching Caravaggio, but there might be more to it then that...

Name: Akiyama Chieko
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance: Not really the most intimidating magus, by appearance. She's small, too.
Personality: Chieko, in spite of her smallness and apparent cuteness, is a fiery girl who dislikes inactivity and laziness. She is a very, very hard worker, and while she's capable of being quite friendly, she is often volatile to those who bother her. This may or may not be due to a lack of sleep(she considers sleep to be something perfectly alright to skip if she needs to). Chieko also has potential to get very angry or frustrated when things don't go her way. Considering how hard she works to get things to go right, this may be very justified. She does feel genuine affection for her friends and family, as well as appreciation for the work the maids do.
Backstory: Born into the Akiyama magus family, Chieko is their natural descendant, and as such has received their Thaumaturgical Crest. Her parents instilled a strong work ethic into her, and while they crave power, they were not cruel to their daughter. Her training has been stern and harsh, but not unnecessarily cruel. Her skills have been honed to make her a competent magus at a young age. Ever since her brother was adopted, she has been keeping him working. With violence, if the need be. She has also spent some of her life getting very popular with the family maids, a contrast to her attitude.

Abilities: Chieko's elemental affinity, like the rest of her her blood-related family, is water. Her origin is Effort. As such, she has trained extensively to utilize her affinity as best as she possibly can be, leaving her with a great deal of skill involving water-based spells. Her spells often rely on flows and cycles, as those are prominently featured when water is involved.

Name: Katsuo Susumu (Eastern)

Personality: Silent, but not exactly unresponsive, he's just not the type to initiate conversation. He's also an avid reader of murder/mystery novels (and the occasional comedy), which leads to a surprisingly passionate desire to become some sort of private detective. Is he any good? Hahaha, yes.
Not a big fan of his name, or any digs at his resemblance to some video game character.

Backstory: Nothing really. Just a completely normal human currently in high school.

Name: Lucille Charron. Despite the French name, English.

Age: 10

Appearance::

Personality: This is the first time that Lucille's really been out to see the world, and it's definitely the first time that she's been on anything resembling a holiday, so she's a mix of curious (most of the time) and fearful. For someone devoted so single-mindedly to one thing, she's not that badly adjusted, though she hasn't even the beginning of an idea on how to cope with failure and is bad with strangers. She doesn't really have much in the way of recreational activities, so she also sleeps a lot.

Somehow, the tendency to scheme hasn't yet ingrained itself into her. Maybe it's that people are more inclined to treat her as an object than someone to be manipulated? She's certainly gullible enough...

Backstory: As a really young child, she ended up in the care of the Mage's Association: her parents had managed to discover that she was an average one before dying and a few magus took it upon themselves to take advantage of the blank slate. To their glee, it was discovered that Lucille was a prodigy as well--at which point her education became even more narrowly focused, to the point that, at ten, she's nearly at the fourth rank in the association.

Her entire reason for being in Japan is a test by her guardians to check that they haven't screwed up too much. That, and one of them is curious about curses... and given the Clock Tower's disinterest in such things, the East is the only place to find out.

Profession: Magus.

Equipment/Weapons: Nothing

Abilities: Aside from an affinity with all of the elements and her magecraft (yet not any materials or such to put it to use; mostly Lucille just does what she's told), her abilities are... rudimentary. She can't speak the language, though her guardian can, and she's a slow reader even of English. As for maths... just give her a calculator.

•Personality: Is a very friendly person; and noone has ever seen her angry. Tends to slack off in class on the occasions she attends. She also has a tendency to zone out when other people are talking to her; and think about something completely unrelated to whatever they're talking about. Because of this; she has a reputation for being lazy. However, this is far from the truth. Rather than being lazy, she entirely dedicated to become a magus; and refuses to let her lack of talent get in her way.

•Backstory: Her clan's magic died out in her grandparents' generation. Since she was small, her grandfather has been telling her that she would have to find a magus and marry them one day in order to "save the clan". However, since she was around six, she's been determined to become a magus herself. Even though the only thing she seemed to have any talent at was strengthening; she didn't give up. Though she's becoming extremely skilled in Reinforcement magic; she's still far from her goal of becoming a magus.

•Equipment/Weapons: Occasionally carries a knife that she can reinforce in an emergency; but doesn't carry it to school for obvious reasons.

•Abilities: In addition to being skilled at reinforcement magic; she's also been trained in martial arts by her father. The two abilities make her a rather dangerous opponent at close range.

Name: Kagome Hitomi

Appearance::

Hitomi is unusually tall for a female of Japanese descent, topping six foot three. It's somewhat awkward for her when she's in her birthplace; everyone assumes that she's a foreigner when... well, she's not. That she can flawlessly fit in otherwise ought to indicate that she has spent much of her life here, regardless of appearances. A close examination of her body reveals that she seems to do a lot of physical exercise, though more centred around feats of acrobatics and agility than strength, and much of it indoors or at night, when it's cooler.

Personality: Hitomi here... well, she likes a challenge. After all, it's not every day that something comes along which calls upon her skills as a magus, so the chance to do something other than laze around or 'boring magecraft studying' is one to leap at. She's also known for her appreciation of beauty, sometimes to the extent of spending hours looking at one particularly eye-catching portrait in an art gallery... or walking up to someone and tilting their face up to get a better look and, sometimes, steal a kiss if they're looking dreamy enough.
Despite her forthrightness, the blonde magus rarely says much, preferring to let her body language or actions speak for her. When she does speak, bluntness tends to be the order of the day. If anyone was ever keeping count of how many times she'd said "You're/It's/So pretty," then they'd have failed after the first month.

Backstory: When Hitomi was born, her parents were confused that she was so scared of... well, everything. It wasn't until a few months later when they realised that her eyes were, in fact, an example of their family's other (apart from an ingrained tendency towards Reinforcement and Alteration) Sorcery Trait, one that skipped generations every so often. After determining that their daughter had been born with some rather... worrying Mystic Eyes, they blindfolded her on advice from Hitomi's paternal grandmother and started looking for someone fit to perform complex magical surgery on a child's eyes.
In the end, the youngest two generations of the Kagome family left Japan on a year-long search to locate a certain member of a magical surgery-using family that was attempting to learn what they could from the Mage's Association. Rather than operate on both eyes, leaving Hitomi lacking a powerful tool in her arsenal, the surgeon chose to only degrade one eye. The other, for much of Hitomi's life, has been covered by an eye-patch.
Having noticed the opportunities available in Europe, and not having time to fully train their daughter themselves, Hitomi was sent back to be raised by her grandparents until such time as she could receive their family's Thaumaturgical Crest. Rather than remain in Japan she also chose to go to Europe, taking advantage of its higher number of mages to get her hands on some rather... interesting mystic codes, notes, and valuables. Recently, on hearing that someone was killing mages in Sagen, she rushed back to check her grandparents were okay. Fortunately, they've yet to be targeted. Her ''maternal'' grandparents, over in Tokyo, are in no immediate danger, though her grandfather there has apparently recently gotten over a cold.

Profession: Magus and phantom thief.

Equipment/Weapons: Hitomi's main Mystic Code is her assault rifle, an AK-47 so heavily modified that the only moving part any more is the trigger, lending credence to her claim that it's just a toy. That it feels like plastic to the touch only improves the situation, though she still tries not to show it off. It is, effectively, a magical taser, ranging from something she can stab with, if held correctly, to fully automatic fire. For no readily apparent reason, except maybe the fact that it didn't really make it any more draining to wield, pretty blue lines cover it whenever it's in use.
She also has a stash of mystic codes, neatly packed away, that, in many cases, she doesn’t even know the intended use of. The most useful is effectively a magical lockpick.

• Elemental Affinity of Lightning
  
• Reinforcement/Alteration Specialist
  
• Mystic Eye of Illusion (left eye). Since this doesn't appear to be specified anywhere, it creates illusions that anything can see, even security cameras, so long as she can see part of it. However, the illusions are specifically visual, so it's not hard to tell they're not real. It's good for hiding things, though. The use to pretend things are there is somewhat debatable since her colour-blindness in this eye makes anything other than greyscale images somewhat difficult, since she can't check the shades are right.
  
• Mystic Eye of Phantasms (right eye). If Hitomi ever takes off that eye-patch, use of this eye immediately becomes possible. If she manages to look into someone's eyes, for even a fraction of a second, whilst the eye is 'properly' active (when it can only see darkness, it's in a dormant state; it becomes a steady drain on prana when looking at anything) then the person so trapped will begin to hallucinate that something is attacking them. That 'something' is always their worst fear or a weakness of some kind, so long as it's dangerous, and if it hits then any injuries inflicted are actually transferred to their body. How hard it is for this fear to successfully land a blow is dependent on the amount of prana Hitomi is willing to use.
  The downside to this Sorcery Trait is that Hitomi constantly sees her own fears, even though they won't attack, when she can see anything with this eye. It has colour vision, however, and isn't long-sighted like the other.
  
• Acrobatics and some gymnastic tricks. How else would she keep that wonderful body~?

Name: Miyamoto Kaminari

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Appearance: "Just... call me Kami. No need to gussy it up with that formal shit."

Personality: A bit rough and tumble, but her heart's in the right place. Kaminari sees herself as a sort of vigilante, or a hero of justice if she feels like flattering herself, and while she most definitely enjoys beating the criminal out of people, she abides by the golden rule of "do not kill", and refuses to cross a few certain lines. Everything else? Fair play. She has no sense of honor or fair combat, and will go for everything from crotch kicks to dangerously painful and debilitating MMA techniques to get her victim to say "yes". She's a bit rough around the edges, and likes to try and maintain her "tough" image, hence why she still comes off as quite a delinquent.
Bio: A delinquent trying to turn over a new leaf, Kaminari's inborn Mystic Eyes activated when she was fifteen, and ever since then, she's been using them under the assumption she's some sort of superhero. A vigilante, using her powers to stop crime just before it happens, Minority Report-style. She has no clue about what her eyes really are, nor any idea of what magecraft or magi are. All she knows is that before, she never had any sort of importance to the world at large. Just another piece of shit delinquent. But now, with the sense of greater calling, she's jumped at the chance to actually be someone, to mean something to people and the world. It may be selfish, but she knows now she has the power to make a difference, and she's exercising it. She wants to help people. Though she still kinda sucks at it ^^;

Abilities:
MMA: It's something she actually took up as a hobby and childhood sport (some people are just hardcore like that). Yeah. Anyway, she's an extremely accomplished hand-to-hand fighter, better than most grown men, and as thus possesses speed, strength, and maneuverability not found in the average man.
Mystic Eyes of Contract: An inborn ability of Kaminari's, the Mystic Eyes of Contract are basically a Geis in Mystic Eye form. If Kaminari can lay out the terms of a contract, and get someone to accept them, the eyes automatically place them under the binding power of a full-fledged Geis. Kaminari likes to use this ability in combination with her extensive array of grappling techniques because, as she puts it, "pain is a great motivator"

Name: Alessandra Bastianelli
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Nun
Appearance: "Amen"
Personality: Alessandra is pious and obedient to the higher-ups in the Church. She is dedicated to her job as an Executor. While she holds no love for killing, she doesn't hesitate to do it if it is necessary. As she is an Executor, it is certainly necessary. She prefers taking the quickest, cleanest, and most direct routes to dispatching a target. She is calm and reserved at most times, or at least tries to be. Things that frustrate her or cause her worry gain a childish response. This hidden immaturity rarely shows itself, and is usually buried under Alessandra's calmer, more polite and collected behavior.
Backstory: Born in Naples, Alessandra was essentially given to the Church by her family. From there, she was raised to combat demons, and even the vampiric. However, there was a special focus of her learnings: The execution of rogue magi. While matters relating to magi were usually handled by the Association, the Church desired to have their own method to eliminate such individuals. As such, Alessandra's training has been focused on equipping her to best eliminate rogue magi. As a test, she has been sent to kill Caravaggio in Sagen city.
Profession: Church Executor
Equipment/Weapons: Black Keys, three for each hand, as well as a variety of mundane knives and other such weapons.
Abilities: Excellent combat skills, as well as some stealth skills. She is well-versed in how to kill people. Able to speak both Italian and Japanese, she is fully bilingual. Her hidden eye is a Mystic Eye of Chainsaw Projection, allowing her to fire chainsaws at the enemy from her eye.

Name: Jennifer Green

Appearance:

Personality: Cold and stand-offish, she’s not a particularly welcoming person at the best of times. Even towards people that have gotten to know her, she’s not overly emotional or caring. In many, if not all senses, she is an academic and, in attitude, a scientist: subjective opinion is to be rejected; only that which can be empirically verified holds worth. She possesses the same disinclination to share her research that characterises the Mage’s Association, however.
Get her in a romantic relationship? Well, that’d be interesting~

Backstory: Born, raised, became a magus. Unusually, only one side of the family uses magecraft--the other, her mother’s, is much, much more grounded in the scientific method, despite the revelation that so much which had seemed impossible... isn’t.

Profession: Magus

Equipment/Weapons:

• The Hangman’s Eternal Noose. Jennifer uses it as a belt, most of the time, but when pressed will make this Mystic Code into a loose noose, wrapping it around her neck. That’s when it starts to move: stretching and growing, then binding tighter than any human can break. It is exceptionally hard to damage the fibers and she views attempts to do so as amusing; even success has to destroy the loop about her neck to make it irreparable. And if something by her neck is damaged, why be overly concerned about her WEAPON?
  Whilst it can stretch as long as desired, that increases the prana drain, so unless necessary she keeps it as short as is efficient.

Personality: Holly is incredibly energetic. She is a boundless source of energy, and dislikes mental stagnation. She attempts to keep her mind occupied at all times, and also enjoys having the rest of herself occupied as well. Holly is considered difficult to work with by some, given her compulsion to keep her mind and body occupied at all times. She feels the need to occupy her mind and hands with anything in reach. Her energy may be found overwhelming by others, even though she is not unfriendly and is quite amicable. Like many magi, she is very ambitious and seeks to expand her abilities and knowledge. She is quick of thought, to match being quick of movement.

Abilities: Holly's Elemental Affinity is Fire. Her origin is Motion. She specializes in spells that are quickly cast, rapidly use up mana, but have very short duration(in spite of being quite potent), becoming so adept at them that she earned the nickname "The Twenty Second Magus". Holly is fully bilingual, speaking both Japanese and English fluently.
