Eternal Sonata RP

Here's the RP, I explained the basic plot of things in the character creator so let's go ahead and start it.

In the city of Ritardando, a pink haired girl ran down the street clutching a bundle tightly to her chest. She could hear the yells for her to get back. Curses were spewed at her back, but she didn't care. She just kept running and running. Soon she came to the entrance of a sewer and she ducked inside it. Rats were everywhere, large hungry rats, but she was used to them. She merely fought her way through, going through many passages until she finally made it to an opening.

"Pop?"

The pink haired girl turned toward the source of the voice, grinning widely. There she spotted a tall girl with brown hair tied back in a braid. The girl was leaning against a wall with her arms crossed. Pop walked towards her holding up the bundle, "Look Musette, look! I brought food!"

"You mean you stole food," Musette grinned wryly, playfully messing with Pop's cap, "So what do you got there?"

"Bread and cheese!" Pop replied opening the contents of the bundle to display them to the older girl.

It was...

...a quiet day.

Despite the bustling of people in the streets, no one cared to be bothered with the barefoot, shirtless, coyote-eared man slumped against an empty crate at the edge of an alleyway. He had not eaten in days, and could not afford to do so. He just watched people pass him by, some of them throwing change at him out of pity. Maybe he had overstayed his welcome in this city. He had seen children stealing for their meals, people turning on one another over the issues of money or magic... it was like all other cities, all other places he had been.

Jabberwock had slept last night. He only knew because the pain on his back had grown, spread. His curse had gotten greater. He could feel it. Pulling the coat around him, he dragged himself to his feet, feeling cobbles under his toes. He kept his spear at his side, having no problems with traveling with his weapon out and on display. He stepped out of the alley, moving down the street. It was time to go, hopefully without harassment. His stomach growled, and tinged in pain.

...maybe he should have stolen something to eat.

Alana was awed. She wasn't sure how many cities she had already passed through, but each time she entered a new one she couldn't help but feel awed by the sights.

And this city was no different.

It was so refreshing to see the city people up close instead of watching them from a window in the manor. There were plenty of smiling and kind faces but she could recognize bitter, resentful ones. After all, she has seen the same look on her parents' faces ever since she was young.

At the sound of yelling, Alana quickly dodged a pink-haired girl who seemed to have stolen something if her pursuers' words were anything to go by. It made her heart ache a little, knowing that while she lived in luxury (albeit away from the public eye) there were people who were miserable. But such is the world.

She continued walking, but then chanced upon a man who looked like he hadn't eaten in days. The man looked strange however, with animal ears instead of regular human ones, and he held a weapon at his side. As the man staggered past her she could hear his stomach growling loudly and the pity tore at her heart.

Deciding quickly, Alana approached the nearest merchant and bought a bag of apples. After paying she went to look for the man again and quickly found him, still making his way down the street. Holding the bag of apples against her chest and giving a quick pat to the doll that rested on her shoulder, Alana approached the man and tapped his shoulder shyly.

He hadn't paid much attention to the girl as she passed him, his thoughts were focused on leaving. It was the only thing keeping him upright for the time being.

However, when she tapped his shoulder, the coyote-eared man stopped, looking down at her. He reached up to push his glasses up higher on his face, looking at the stranger a little strangely.

With a small blush and a shy smile on her face, Alana, held out an apple to the man, hoping that he would accept at least for the sake of food.

The man looked at the apple, realizing his hunger, and smiled faintly before he took it.

"...thank you." He said quietly before biting into it with pointed teeth. It wasn't much, but in some ways it was more than enough. He needed a little bit to get him out of town.

Alana's smile got a tiny bit bigger. She felt happy that she was able to help someone in need.

"H-Here you go," she said shyly, handing the bag of apples to the man.

Jabberwock took the bag, smiling politely. He was more than grateful for the help.

"You are too kind, young lady."

The smile on Alana's face brightened even more.

"You're welcome," she said. Her eyes then raked over the man's body and, feeling bold, she took one of the man's hands in her own. "Will you allow me to help you?" she asked, biting her lower lip nervously. "You're hurt and you look very tired."

His hand was calloused and rough, though his fingers - like the rest of his body - were slender and bony, and he did not pull away from her touch.

"You do not need to trouble yourself for me, young lady. I am merely on my way out of this city."

The coyote-eared man bowed politely, and kissed her hand.

"However, if you wish to help me, I am sure that I would not be able to stop you."

"Ah, now that we've filled our bellies, we should go out and look for work," Musette told her young companion as they walked out of the sewer system. The brown haired girl didn't like the fact that they had to steal for food and had hoped she could get a job to pay for it honestly.

Pop nodded in eager agreement, "Alright Musette! But... how will today be any different than any other day? No one wants to hire kids..."

"Well, we'll never know till we try," She replied messing with the pink haired girl's cap again. They walked right past a girl and a coyote-eared man without so much as a glance, "Who knows, we might end up getting lucky today."

Alana smiled and giggled shyly at the man. "No, I'm sure you wouldn't," she said, reaching a hand to pat the doll that hung from her shoulder. "I guess I'm stubborn like that."

She grasped the man's hand in hers and pulled him towards the direction of an inn she saw just a little way down the street. They could probably get more food there and the man could get clean and have his cuts treated.

"My name is Alana, by the way," she said, looking back at the man. "And this is Albert." She indicated her little blond doll on her shoulder.

The man let himself be tugged around, though back IN to town was the opposite of where he had planned on going. He was supposed to be headed AWAY from Ritardando. But... he wasn't exactly going to argue with someone who was willing to buy him food and put him up for the night.

He had noticed two others run past them, but paid them no mind.

"I am normally called the Jabberwock."

Nocturne just woke up from her sleep and stretched, yawning. There were people just passing by her. It was a good thing for her that she wasn't being noticed. She seemed a little paranoid about meeting other people. Even if she tried to just smile and talk to them peacefully, she was quivering with fear inside. She stood up and walked across the streets, bumping into some people. She sighed, closing her eyes to relax a little while she walked. When she did, she bumped into Musette. With that, she opened her eyes and then looked at them as if extremely worried. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!"

"It's fine, it's fine," Musette assured the girl who had bumped into her. Pop trailed up behind her looking at the two girls with a mildly interested expression. The older girl continued speaking to Nocturne, "Hey, I remember seeing you around town a few times, Nocturne right? The names Musette and this is..."

"I'm Pop!" The little pink haired girl, interrupted with a bright smile.

One ear turned towards the conversation, one noticible coyote ear turned towards the girls talking, and the slender man glanced in their direction briefly. Well, they were all in the same sort of area, it was hard to not listen to other conversations.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Jabberwock," Alana said, smiling as she pushed open the door to the inn. She let go of Jabberwock's hand so that she could get a room for the two of them. If she had more money she might've gotten two rooms, but alas she doesn't.

One she got the key, she turned to Jabberwock and tilted her head towards the stairs, a questioning look in her eyes.

The coyote-man looked at her oddly.

"Is something wrong, miss?"

Alana blinked and stuttered. "E-Eh? N-No, nothing's wrong," she said, blushing lightly. "Let's go up to the room, yeah?"

She turned and climbed the stairs, quickly finding their room and unlocking it. There were two beds in it, thankfully, and a table with two chairs. It was small, but cozy at least.

She took the bed closest to the door and set her bag on top of the covers before opening it and digging through it. She took out a smallish box that was her first aid kit, though it didn't have much in it. Just a few rolls of bandages and ointment, though hopefully it was enough.

Jabberwock moved to the bed nearest the window, resting his cross spear on the wall nearby, so it would be easy to grab if he needed it. He does not remove his coat, merely running his fingers through his hair before looking out the window, at the streets of the city he was trying to leave.

Oh well.

His ear turned to the sound of things rustling, and he looked at the girl again, seeing her digging through her bags and drawing out bandages and such.

Alana gathered her things and approached Jabberwock, kneeling down in front of him and reaching for his feet. She had a flannel in one hand and, using water from her flask, she wet it before gently cleaning the dirt from Jabberwock's feet.

"Um... do you mind if I ask what you're doing in this city?" she said, blushing a bit and staying focused on her task.

The coyote man flinched a little at his feet just suddenly being cleaned. Not that they couldn't use it, dirty and scratched up with gravel and stone, a little bloody in some areas. It was just... odd. Very odd.

He shrugged a little at the question.

"Someone told me once that when they saw birds flying in the sky, it made them want to go on a journey... I followed those words, and have been for years."

Alana glanced up at Jabberwock. "That's very poetic," she said before returning to her task. "It reminds me of what my brother said to me before he died." She began rubbing ointment on the soles of the man's foot. "He said that I was like a bird who deserved to fly in the sky and be free, not to be trapped in a cage like a prisoner." She paused for a moment before bandaging Jabberwock's feet. "I guess he's the reason why I left home."

The coyote man nodded once, his feet feeling significantly better now that they were bandaged and treated.

"I do not remember if I have a home anymore. It has been a long time since I even thought of it... perhaps I never had one, and simply have been wandering around forever."

The teenaged girl gazed up at Jabberwock with sad eyes. "That's sad," she said bluntly. "I guess even though I wasn't treated very well at my home, I still called it a home because there was someone there who loved me." She patted the doll on her shoulder in affection. "But now that he's gone, I guess I have to find another home."

She stood up and started to treat the little scrapes on the man's hands.

"It is my wish that... before I join my brother I'll be able to find a nice home, with people who care for me. I hope that isn't too much to ask."

"Everyone wishes for that, don't they?" Jabberwock said with a small sort of smile. "I don't even know what I am looking for, what I am searching for. I am just wandering."

Alana made quick work of Jabberwock's hands and she smiled once she was finished.

"Well then, why don't we look together?" she asked then promptly blushed at what she said.

His initial reaction was to quirk a brow at her and pretend to be confused, but perhaps traveling with someone else would ease his burden slightly.

"If you do not mind traveling with one such as I, then we can go."

Alana's embarrassment was quickly washed over with the feeling of elation. She had been alone for most of her life so it was such a joy to have someone travel along with her.

"I don't mind at all," she said, blushing lightly. "Thank you..."

She took stock of her bandages and looked Jabberwock over. "Do you have any other wounds? If not we can have dinner and then retire for the night."

There were other wounds, but Jabberwock knew that there would be no healing them. They were not simply physical, not so simply washed away and healed over. And he did not feel like showing them to the world. They were his to carry and his alone.

He shook his head, looking over the bandages. "No, there are no more injuries. Thank you, again." He said, smiling faintly.

Sleep, however... sleep sounded horrible. But rest would not hurt. He could go another day without sleeping.
