Idealistic War: A magic steampunk RP
In the city of Alsteem, capital of the great nation Tamriel, there have been many leaps in technological progress over the past few decades. It has resulted in a powerful industrial era, with factories pumping out large numbers of gadgets and gizmos with many different uses. The people have grown to love the technology of this world, as it makes their lives easier, and at first it seemed to make the city safer.
However, there were factions of people who preferred the old ways. The mystic ways. Even to this day, powerful alchemy and mysticism is taught and trained to aspiring magi and alchemists. However, it's gotten weaker than it once was. It used to be that even the common magus could blast down a building on a whim, but now it takes more skill, more learning. Despite this however, there are still a number of very strong mystics.
Technology is much easier to teach than magic, and therefore many parents attempt to get their children into the College of Piltover, the source of all well trained inventors and engineers. This college was founded by the late Heimerdinger, the original inventor of the steam engine, which resulted in inventors all around creating amazing steam-based technology that fueled the world. Trains, cars, zephyrs, light bulbs, everything runs on steam. As such, elaborate pipe systems run all throughout the entirety of the College of Piltover, as well as the most major cities.
However, many still swear by magic, and refuse to even co-exist with technology. This has resulted in many people declaring 'war' on steam power. However, it has yet to reach a magnitude that has claimed any lives. Or so the public thinks...

Magic: A specialist in water and ice magic. She is capable of creating, manipulating, and freezing water.
Weapons/items: She keeps a book on her at all times.
Personality: Aera is seemingly a serious and analytical young woman. However, she tends to have a bit of an airheadedness about her as she tends to take everything at face value. Sarcasm and jokes just fly right over her head. She is also pretty guillable in her search for knowledge. She tends to take what she hears as true until she herself can prove it wrong. While vastly intelligent, her naivety and curiosity seem to be her greatest weakness.
Backstory: She has spent a majority of her life cooped up in her own little library learning magic from both her father and the many scriptures he owned. She has had very little contact with the other magic users, only reading her many books. It was only a month ago that she was finally forced by her father to, as he put it, 'make friends'. She is still very unfamiliar with how things work or how to properly interact with people. Because of this, she can come off as a bit of a weirdo.

Magic: He is able to manipulate minerals, gems and metals in the earth or in his surroundings. However, he has no ability to create them, giving him limited resources.
Weapons/items: He carries a katana with him at all times. On its sheath is his family's crest. Adept at hand to hand combat and swordsmanship.
Personality: Hot-Blooded and even feral, Petra relies mostly on instinct and intuition as he rushes head-on without any regard to his own personal safety (just as long as he knows he will survive in the end, of course). Magic is only an accessory to him, as he prefers hand to hand or armed close-quarters combat. To him, most people are just challenges and fights waiting to happen. He also acts very confident to the point of near-arrogance. Of course, he still has a sense of morality as he will willingly put himself in between potential death and someone he cares for genuinely.
Backstory: He was born into a family of traditionalist mages, and as an only child his parents seemed to have decided his destiny to be a full-fledged mage. However, he was not one to comply easily as he started to question why that was his destiny. With his parents not giving him a non-ambiguous answer, he realized that he was just going to be used as an instrument to continue the family tradition and nothing else. With a burning hate for his family's expectations for him to become a scholar and a traditional, well-versed magical practitioner, he ran away from home and decided to create a complete clean slate for himself. He grew his hair and decided to dress and act as a sort of tomboyish female. Not only does it let him hide from his family, but it lures many men that he encounters into a false sense of security and overconfidence as he either picks a fight or gets challenged to one.

Weapons/items: A single shot flintlock pistol, a grappling hook, a cutlass. a pocketwatch, a key to his secret chest, a map of the world, and a book with a variety of trinkets he's collected, some of which are magical, all of which are on their way to his secret chest.
Personality: A flamboyant man who likes flirting with everyone, and often tries to get everyone else to like him. His favorite method is to speak of one of his many adventures, all of which he makes sound much more difficult and daring than they actually were. He is the center of attention whenever he can help it, though he has enough tact to let others take the spotlight if they have something important to say.
Backstory: As a child he loved stories about adventuring heroes who rescued damsels and brought glory to their city with powerful relics uncovered from deep underneath the earth. As soon as he turned 14, he set out to do exactly that sort of thing. He would tell you of the mighty giant spider he came across in the cavern of hidden mysteries, and how he doesn't regret a moment of it despite there being nothing to find. He may also tell you of how he had to deal with a minotaur on his third adventure, and managed to come out on top by outsmarting it. Certainly he'd love to tell you how he bested a fire breathing lizard deep within the Ancient Cistern, by using the pool of water to put out its breath. He'd tell you these things, and make them sound like he had everything in control right from the start. However, it wasn't until he was 17 that he was finally able to pull off crazy stunts without worrying about his life. A few years of dealing with it all eventually caught up to him, and he handles it all with the flair of a man who's luck just won't ever run out. It toughened him up mentally, though not really physically. He's still truly out to find his claim to fame, and will keep at it until he does.

Weapons/items: The items she tends to care on her most often than the rest are as follows: Her long range handcuff launcher; her smoke gears (really just gear-shaped smoke bombs); a signaling device for whatever clockwork-powered mecha she has parked nearby (always assume she has one parked nearby) ; a drill pen (for writing and digging needs!); a device that greatly increases her brainpower (at the risk of severe brain damage); and a wrench. God help you if you make her use the wrench.
Personality: An energetic; and highly eccentric travelling inventor. Firmly believes that "if it's not spinning, it's not science". Wants to use her abilities to make the world a better place for everyone. Hates violence; but is not above using it if the situation is desperate enough.
Backstory: After escaping from the smoking ruins of her hometown; she went to live in an impossibly shitty orphanage in the city. She was later adopted by professor at the University of Technology; who noticed she had a talent for machinery. She was enrolled in the university as soon as she was old enough to attend; and graduated with a Doctorate in Mad Science, and engineering.
She went on to sell several machines to the Tamriel Government; but stopped this when all of them were invariably used as weapons. Has recently taken to seemingly aimless wandering. Has claimed that she's actually working on her "greatest invention"; though there isn't much evidence to support this.

Personality: Confident, charismatic and charming, Jack is the type to win over a room full of people quite easily either through his words or his actions. He cares greatly for his crew and values loyalty and trust over any real ability or desirable personality traits. Despite being a good captain, he is recklessly brave, stubborn to a fault and not against charging head first into dangerous situations and dragging his crew along with him for the adventure, sometimes needlessly getting them into sticky situations. He sometimes struggles to learn from his mistakes, and when he admits someone to his crew he will trust them blindly, even if they betray him in front of his face. Could be considered overly decisive and often acts without all the facts, and primarily likes to do what he wants and enjoys his lifestyle without boundaries. Don't fuck with people he likes, especially not the crew. Jack likes drinking, but when he's depressed he'll drink himself into a stupor.
Backstory: Jack's father was a famous sky pirate who caused an incredible amount of havoc before disappearing. His mother died waiting for the return of Captain Jack Carter II who resumed his piracy shortly before his son's birth, leaving only a small bag of possessions which Jack refused to open, and leading to claims that he didn't really care about either of them. Wanting answers, Jack set out on a journey which seemed to be heading one way - to progress, Jack had to follow his father and his father's father and become a sky pirate.
Genetics seemed to make him a natural, and in-between barhopping and making friends with his words and fists, he gained a small but extremely loyal crew and "acquired" a upper end airship. Then, as the crew was hitting its stride, a crew-member betrayed them and stole their ship. Jack struggled for ideas and, when it seemed all hope was lost, his father's bag opened and he found half the schematics to a powerful prototype ship. Having the basic airship built, the crew set off to find the rest of the ship's schematics, upgrade it into its powerful finished article and find the wayward shipmate.

Personality: A cocky son of a bitch who believes if you want to get anywhere in life, you're gonna have to take what you need. Doesn't matter who gets hurt by it, your own happiness is more important than anyone elses. He's a crude and ruthless man who only looks out for himself and waste no time with others. The only people he respects is his fellow crew mates and his captain. This is because they earned his respect. Anyone who can earn Will's loyalty will keep it till the end.
Backstory: Will grew up an orphan in the outer slums of Alsteem. There he had to learn to take care of himself. He learned the cruelty of the world and how the only person who would look out for him was himself. When he was ten, he managed to get a job on a Sky Pirate ship. It was then that he knew he found his calling. Since then, he had been joining different crews that needed the extra hands. He learned how to fight and eventually became known as one of the most infamous pirates in the skies. Yet, he had not sworn loyalty to any ship nor had he started his own crew. He was more a drifter than a true pirate. That all changed when one day he came across his current captain. They had gotten into a bar fight and Willard for the first time in a long time had his ass served to him on a silver platter. It was then that Will knew the man who deserved to be his captain. Because anyone that could kick his ass, had to be a damn good man.

Magic: Fult is capable to launch bolt of mana from his free left and and conjure a cutlass mana sword. he can also create a repelling force with his left hand to parry incoming sword strikes, but needs correct timing. To launch cannon ball of mana he needs to use both hands, preventing him to use sword. Expert in mana manipulation.
Weapons/items: Bonecharm, Brass Pocketwatch, Journal which acts also spellbook.
Personality: Organized man who does not like to spill blood of those who he pulled along into fray with his job. Fult took great interest in magic manipulation shaping mana into new forms. Taking his jobs seriously but not without cracking a joke or two about situation. He mostly keeps his calm and collective attitude and face in every situation, but becomes aggressive when things are not going how he planned.
Backstory: Fult, Born into poor Family who was living life of crime and deception. After his magical talents were discovered, secretive mage circle of Alsteem college which works in the shadows for the best of magic users, took him in and trained, teaching him further the art of deceiving and magic, to work as their agent. Since the life at circle was easier than on streets, not suffering hungry days, he stayed and learned. The circle established him into Sky Pirate society as best crew member to be hired.
After he was hired into Jack Carter III's Crew, he build crew's trust when being with them, same time creating the plan to steal the ship. Introducing new members such as Alieze Reinfeld to ship who looked at him with shining eyes. He executed his plan when captain along with certain crew members were off from boat for easier take over. He made sure that everything would go according to plan, stabbing first few crew members, using the confusion of his actions to launch mana slash to finish off rest, but with suprise that, one who was not suppose to be on boat at that moment, Alieze. Had in fact come up to deck. slashes of pure mana killing other crew members, took an arm from her and knocking her out.
Since he was the one who introduced him to the crew, he did not want to be the one for the cause of her death. Made sure that she would not bleed to death while unconscious and dumped her to docks and set sail, before the captain would return with remaining few members. Later throwing dead members off from boat after scavengin from them valuables.
After the incident he has bee sailing around with airship performing his duties as Agent of the circle.

Weapons/Items: Multiple attachments for her prosthetic arm. However, most of them are just tools for building and construction. The only attachment made for fighting is an attachment that gives her a gun similar to a black powder musket.
Personality: Alieze seems to obsess over technology. Her colleagues at the university found her dedication almost dangerous when she finds a new discovery or an idea for a gadget or some sort of other machinery. At a complete contrast, she suffers trauma from magic and she cowers and becomes completely helpless in its presence, usually freezing up. Because of this, she has tagged her room in the crew's airship as a "non-magic area" where she personally strictly suggests others not to use any form of magic. She used to be a very energetic girl, but she seemed to become a more empty, reserved person after the traitor left with their old airship. She used to look up to him greatly, and maybe even harbored feelings for him, both of which she aggressively denies. Also because of this, she refuses to involve herself in any conversations about the traitor.
Backstory: Back in the Piltover school of technology, she was considered one of the best students in the entire school to the point of being called a prodigy. Her ambitions were high and her vision was vast and full of ideas. However, it was that very reason that some of her professors feared that she might one day seek something that might cause more bad than good. Restricted by her peers, she decided that it was not worth it to study in the school anymore. She sought a place where she was able to expand her vision and use her knowledge to the fullest. In her travels, she met a man who she saw was completely free of rules and restrictions of society: a sky pirate. Wanting to join him, she followed the man until he finally talked to the captain about her joining the crew. Of course, she offered her knowledge of machinery and invention as her assets.
She worked enthusiastically, answering to all of the members' whims for even the smallest favors and treating it like the greatest achievement in the world when she managed to satisfy them. Of course, the one she looked up to the most was Fult, the man who was able to talk the captain into accepting her into the crew. Her gratefulness towards him knew no bounds as she made sure to thank him for it at least once a day. However, the incident happened one day where she heard a commotion on the upper decks of the ship as she was sketching blueprint ideas. Rushing over to see what happened, what greeted her was a shining flash of magic and the searing pain all over her shoulder as she reflexively moved to the side. As she fell on the ground, what she saw was the face of the very man she admired before she blacked out. She woke up with the other people of her crew and for several months, she was in recovery having her left arm cut off completely.
Since then, she has developed a fear of magic and the power it possesses, and she began to spiral into a state of distrust and confusion. However, she decided to become useful once more as to not become a burden. Because of that, she began to obsess herself over creating ideas for new inventions or even just tinkering with machines during her free time, anything to keep her occupied. With that, she custom-made a prosthetic arm she was able to use and all its different tools and gadgets. That creation of hers is a symbol and a reminder to herself that what she was there for was for her passion to invent... and not because of the traitor to whom she has since then constantly denied her emotions for. She became more reserved and quiet from that day on, a direct contrast of her old self.

Magic: Healing magic, capable of healing any open wound that isn't fatal, and even able to cure some ailments. Light magic of a defensive sort, in that she can create enough light to blind foes momentarily, and she a variety of sanctified magics that can exorcise evil spirits and the undead. For all of her spells, it requires that she pray to the spirits of light to guide her magic to do as it is meant to do.
Weapons/items: A copy of "The Book of Light", the book all mages from her circle learn their power from. The book itself holds no power, but she holds on to it for the purposes of teaching and further learning.
Personality: A kind hearted woman who, having sworn her life to her belief, will always do what she believes is the lawfully correct choice. She tries to help anyone in need, though is realistic enough to know she can't single handedly help everyone everywhere. Despite knowing that though, she will continue to help as much as she can. She's easily embarrassed, but isn't socially awkward and can easily hold conversations with complete strangers. That is a necessary skill for her after all, as she is supposed to be trying to make the world a better place by teaching others her beliefs. She is very determined in all that she does, rarely quitting and never just because it's too hard.

One day, an unfortunate event occurred where a violent group of thugs went a little too far in trying to bully her father out of money. He was stabbed, and it resulted in his death. She was heartbroken, but made an oath on that day to continue holding his beliefs until the day she dies. Because of this, she went to the church and swore herself in as a nun, never to be married else she be distracted from her duties as a Priestess of Light. She made this oath at the age of 14.
Since that time, she's traveled around a bit and studied under a variety of Priests, but has recently returned to her home of Alsteem, and had a happy reunion with the Priest of the Church of Saint Kariah. She was sad to discover that the hostilities between inventors and sorcerers seems to only be getting worse, and hopes that she can help calm everyone down in whatever way she can.

Magic: Mainly uses summon magic. However, instead of fighting for her; her summons temporarily lend her their power. However; using said powers is incredibly draining; and can kill her if she uses them too long.
Her summons are as follows:
*Kamaitachi: Greatly increases her speed; and allows her to ride on the wind.
*Minotaur: Gives her ridiculous amounts of strength.
*Raiju: allows her to turn into lightning. Has trouble controlling the direction she travels when in lightning form.
Weapons/items: Carries the scroll of summoning, which allows her to summon any supernatural creature that she defeats in battle. Also carries a large number of knives.
Personality: Considers herself to be the most awesome person who has ever graced the Earth with her mighty presence. As such, she is extremely reckless; and a bit selfish. That being said; she really does care about other people. She just doesn't show it that often.
Backstory: Left home to prove her worth to her father; in order to gain his inheritance. Currently staying in Alsteem due to rumors of the mythical beast Nuckelavee having been sited in the area.
