Urban Fantasy RP

Shukufuku City, located in a rather wonderful area of Japan. Outside the city was rolling hills, and inside it was, well, a bustling city filled with people.

Not all these people, however, were regular human beings.

Amitiel was one of these irregular beings. She cheerfully headed down the street, alone, holding her backpack on tight. As she went, she contemplated where she should go. A party? Back to her apartment? A club? It was hard to decide, but something fun was in order. Her magical Tommy Gun was nice and tucked away inside her backpack, and everything was going just fine. Even though she was a little bored while she tried to think of something to do.

Amitiel settled on looking for a party to crash. That could be pretty fun.

The Carefree Witch cheerfully drifted through the alley. What was the point of walking when no one could see her, anyway? It wasn't like she had to keep her powers secret when there was no one to see them. Besides, she was a bit bored today, she hadn't met anyone who was interesting at all. Floating was more fun then walking.

"Hmmm... I need to find something fun to do," she commented to herself, gaining a thoughtful expression. But what?

Shiori walked down the street, heading towards the city's shopping district. She had managed to get a decent amount of money from donations recently, a fact she had to at least partially attribute to her curse. She shook her head, dwelling on how she got the money wasn't necessary, what was important is that she had it. Although not for much longer. Soon she would have something far better than money. Something the eternally young shrine maiden couldn't help but love, despite her facade of maturity. Candy!

She continued on her way, a slight smile working its way onto her face.

A small black cat with inhuman red eyes seemed to be following Shiori. Dremlin didn't really care about the girl, he was merely on a similar route as her. Of course, seeing the opportunity for a prank - since she was just a kid (and apparently unsupervised) she would be easier to spook for a laugh - he began to scheme. He internally argued a little, over whether it was moral or not, and whether he should turn into a faceless man in a suit and chase her, or turn into a white cat-thing and offer her a contract to- where'd that come from? Regardless, Dremlin did not realize what was behind him until too late.

"WOOF!"

"JESUS!" He shouted, spinning and slashing at the stray dog with claws that were several inches too large to be on a cat. And made of metal, as well. Dremlin paused, quickly looking around before retracting his claws, hissing, and padding along slightly faster, striding next to Shiori's legs. If anyone DID see him do that, he hoped they questioned the girl instead, so he could turn into a fly and escape or something.

Breathing heavily, a red-haired girl rushed down a random street, a box of not-so-mysterious contents in hand. Considering the speed she was running, the length of time she had to be running, as well as the fact seven small boxes of food precariously balanced and tied together wasn't the easiest of loads to simply carry, she really should have been drowning in sweat and passing out from sort of heat stroke.

Funnily enough, she wasn't. Possibly running short of breathe, but otherwise fine with wearing the thick, almost winter-like clothing of various blue and green shades. She hurried onwards to her destination, intent on getting her job done perfectly and hoping small time take-away shops offered decent bonuses for hard work. Had to pay rent somehow, after all!

She almost collided with a girl carrying a backpack, only just noticing and leaping around her at the last second with a small, surprised yelp. Cyndy began hopping madly on one foot, quickly losing balance and trying not to drop her load. Eventually, she tried throwing the boxes to the air, falling, rolling onto her back and catching the boxes again. Up until the last stage of her plan, it mostly worked, and now have a worried look at the food lying a foot away.

"Uh oh... hope it hasn't gotten mashed up in there..." Cyndy muttered, brushing herself off as she got to her feet. Remembering the girl she nearly knocked down, Cyndy laughed nervously, "Hey, uh, sorry for nearly comitting hit-and-run there, I'm kinda running late..."

Picking the food boxes up, she gave them a small shake, which wasn't helping their condition any, and addressed the girl again.

"Tell ya what, I'll haggle a discount for you the next time you drop by our shop, okay? Good!" Cyndy quickly decided, forgetting to name drop the place she worked at before turning and restarting her journey. Taking it slowly in an attempt to regain the breathe lost by running and apologising,

Somewhere in Shukufuku city, an abandoned building disappeared. In it's place, a small shop appeared. It was a small shop. It's windows were lined with various items; from toys to antiques to costumes. There was a sign at the top of the building that said "The Inconspicuous Shop of Ordinary Items".

The new building Pipes dug into the ground like roots and connected it to the city water supply. Wires attached themselves the city's electrical supply. A telepathic signal was sent to any passerbys informing them that the building had been there for years; and documents appeared in City Hall making it seem so.

Aki walked up to the window; and turned the sign around so that it said "Open for business".

"Huh, looks like it materialized back in my home town," she said. "I guess weird coincidences do happen,"

Amitiel nearly succeeded in knocking herself over, when she leaped back to avoid being unceremoniously collided with. This girl had appeared to just... drop out of no where, really. To be honest, it very nearly set off her temper... if the girl hadn't immediately fallen over herself. Amitiel turned to address the girl who had nearly ran her over.

"Where do you even work?" she asked, inclining her head to one side as she did. "I can take advantage of that if I don't know."

The Carefree Witch, finding herself approaching an area that actually had people in it, begrudgingly landed. Floating was so much more fun, but she had to keep that a secret. Her clothing? A costume, fun cosplay! People always believed that, for whatever reason, even when they found it weird.

Cheerfully, the Carefree Witch headed out into the crowds.

Hisako peered in the shop window, sucking on the cherry lollipop she'd purchased. It didn't look like there was anything she really wanted there, at the moment. Stretching, she leaned back and looked off down the street. So many people, she wondered which of them were friendly, and nice to talk to, and which ones were not. With a lazy yawn, she turned to head off back home.

"Huh?" Cyndy replied distractedly, trying to quickly fill her lungs with air. "O-oh, uh... hold on..."
After a few more seconds of air-gulping action, Cyndy felt ready to answer. "Ah... it's 'Kei's Tasty Place'." a small pant. "Ignore the stupid name, we've got decent stuff to eat."

Cyndy glanced at her cargo with a worried glance. "Anyway, really have to get this stuff delivered on time! Come on then, we should hurry!" She announced, as if this were something they always did together. Cyndy took off once again, quickly gaining speed. Only two more streets to go...

Shujiko, shopping in hand, walked down the street with a thoughtful expression on her face. she couldn't seem to decide if she'd remembered everything she'd needed. Did she buy that specific brand of rice? Remember to buy the noodles? Too much trouble to just rifle through the bags, so she could just wait until she got home...

Almost like a sixth sense, something made Shujiko pay attention to the street before her. Of course, she had to be right here... the young girl put on her best scowl as she walked past Hisako, looking as disinterested in her as possible as she passed. Stupid beautiful girl, being all... well, pretty and stuff.

Shujiko couldn't resist sneaking a glance back at her, though. Shujiko might totally hate her and not like her in any form - for real! - but it was hard to just ignore beauty like that. Was it the hair? Something about her was so alluring... Maybe she should try and figure that out tonight? She'd gotten pretty good at hiding recently, so maybe...

Hearing a loud yelp behind her, Shiori turned. She saw the dog fleeing and blood trailing onto the ground. Without even pausing to question what had happened, she ran after the dog, moving a bit faster than one would expect from her appearance, but still within the limits of what a 9 year old could achieve.

Seconds later, she caught up with the injured animal and grabbed it. In an effort to make the dog feel safer around her she used a small healing spell, not enough to cause any visible change in the animal's condition, but enough to soothe its pain. The dog looked up at the shrine maiden.

She smiled and petted it, careful to avoid aggrevating the...were those knife wounds? "Okay boy, let's get you fixed up properly." she said. Shiori untied her ponytail and, using the ribbon as a makeshift leash, led the dog back to a shrine on the outskirts of town where she could tend to its injuries away from the public.

Clearly, the fairly attractive girl asking Amitiel to eat with her was a good person to follow. Regardless of how strange the whole thing sounded to the small angel, she hurried off after her. Angelic speed wasn't too conspicuous, even if it looked a bit odd, so she allowed herself to use it, easily catching with the other girl without growing tired.

Hisako's spine prickled. She blinked, and looked around. She felt like someone was staring at her... but who? She turned, to look behind her as well. It made her kind of nervous, she felt like she wanted to leave very quickly... Oh, wait, was that Shujiko?

"Hello, Ishi-san," she greeted the other girl. They went to the same school, during the school year. The same class, even! It was natural to greet her. Even though she seemed weird, and cold, sometimes.

The Carefree Witch cheerfully continued onward, down the street, happily humming to herself as she did. Hm... did anyone around here seem fun? There was a lot of people...

The black cat paused a moment as Shiori walked away, then raised its shoulders in the approximation of a shrug before moving on. Stupid dog, being so easily sliced up. Dremlin continued his walking, until he eventually came upon an unusual sight. A girl, dressed as a mage. He didn't recall any occasion for dressing up like such, and if she actually WAS a mage (as unlikely as that was) then she might be fun to annoy. Maybe she'd even blow up a house trying to kill him. 'Collateral damage' always translated to 'bonus points' in his books, after all.

He padded over to the girl, purring and rubbing against her leg. At the exact same moment, his back turned into a miniature industrial fan, which then blew straight upward, in an obvious attempt by Dremlin to blow up her skirt and expose her underclothes. He'd actually gotten some ladies indecent exposure charges with this gag, but then, he supposed fifteenth century England had a more strict idea of 'decency.'

Leaning quite casually against a building near a busy crosswalk were a pair of twins. They looked almost exactly alike except for their clothing, the shape of their eyes, and the fact that one had obvious protrusions on her chest.

"Oh, Japan!" Mysteria exclaimed as she stretched her arms into the air. "The Land of the Rising Sun! Of samurai and ninja and sushi and ramen and anime and cosplay and shikigami and onmyouji and oh my gods Tykky we absolutely must visit a shrine and see if we can find some onmyouji! I want to learn how they make their shikigami!"

Mysteria's twin brother, Mystyk, just blinked almost boredly at his sister. "Okay," he said simply, his voice flat and lacking emotion. "After we find something to eat first."

Completely used to her brother's personality, Mysteria nodded excitedly, practically bouncing on the balls of her feet.

The Carefree Witch's embarrassment was only momentary. An illusion quickly took it's place across her body, making it look as if her clothing had never been displaced. So, someone was attempting to cause her public embarrassment? Specifically, the cat below her? Mean mean mean! It was some sort of shapeshifter, that much she could tell.

"Neko-san," she said, her tone soft and quiet, but sing-song, "Have you ever wondered what fried cat smells like?"

She had no intention of actually hurting him, but the shapeshifter's reaction, on the other hand, could potentially be quite priceless.

"Yes. Smells terrible, I've discovered, but tastes delicious with the right spices." Replied Dremlin just as softly, not missing a beat. "Though I think gerbil is a much better delicacy."

His back became normal again as he once more rubbed against her leg, still whispering. "So, I'm pretty sure we both have some explaining to do. Me, as to how I just did that, and you, as to how you planned to fry me. Unless you just happen to be a chain smoker who carries two lighters just in case."

"Well, hm, let's see..." the Carefree Witch contemplated this for a few moments. It was mostly a show, until her cheerful response came. Quiet, once more. "Well, you're a shapeshifter and I have an affinity for the control over electricity, does that explain it, Neko-san?"

She wasn't too worried about making this explanation here. After all, whatever they said would be blotted out by the sound of the crowds around them. The Carefree Witch allowed a crackle of static around her ankles. Enough to get the point across, not enough to actually cause injury. She wanted to get a better reaction out of him, after all.

"Yup, pretty much. Name's Dremlin, by the way, not 'Neko-san' or whatever." The changeling said, his fur standing on edge from the static for a moment, then he purred and tilted his head to the side. "Nice touch with the static. Say, you wanna hang out, cause some chaos or something? Maybe shoot lightning at things? Because I'm kind of bored and maybe a wee bit lonely."

If Cyndy hadn't been so busy with getting the delivery done on time, she would have noted just how athletic this little girl seemed to be. For now, she was too busy rounding the corner and homing in on the house she was heading for.
Almost... there..." Cyndy panted. Boy, was she going to enjoy resting afterwards. Curse her lack of driving skills.

Oh damn, she was looking. Shujiko quickly turned her gaze away, glanced back to grunt something that might have been a greeting, then tried to look as dismissive as possible, and instead looked into the window of a shop that had obviously been around for years but she had never entered. Looked like it had quite a variety of stuff in there.Hisako would look good in that costume over there, right?

Shaking that thought from her mind, she decided to enter the shop. Mostly so Hisako wouldn't see her increasing blush. Stupid pretty girl...

Cyndy had a surprisingly easy time getting to the apartment that had ordered the food; it was only on the second floor and, for whatever reason, the stairs were external to the building. A short climb later and the dragon-girl was knocking on the door, whilst the sound of people rearranging themselves on the other side made themselves known.

It was Emiko that opened the door, hair down and yawning. By appearances, she'd declined such activities as 'getting dressed' on this first day of the school-less portion of summer and was still dressed in surprisingly pink pyjamas. Behind her, Keiko was... well, that was probably meant to be a wave, but the limbless twin's attention was fixated firmly on the screen of a TV and something that sounded like it contained a lot of explosions.

Strange... that shop hadn't been there a few minutes before, Sariel thought, looking at the same shop that Shujiko had just entered. So that was what the mind-altering magic had been trying to do. Hmm... it was best that she check there were no cosmic horrors attempting to use the store as a front for seeking out human sacrifices and, failing that, she could get some new clothes. Her current clothing was attracting far too much attention, nice as it was.

Aki smiled at the girl that walked into her store. She was suprised to have her first customer this soon.

"Welcome to my shop," she said. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

Mai stared at the pile of badly beaten thugs in front of her, and sighed. They really needed to be more careful about who they mugged in an alley. She hoped she hadn't just broken the masquerade.

"H-how did you do that?" said one of them who happened to still be concious.

"It was...um...mirrors. Yeah. And slight of hand. Nothing supernatural going on," said Mai.

Yawning, a small figure propped himself up out of his futon. As he idly set his hair back into place from its bedhead status, he went near the window to look outside. It was definitely not morning anymore. Shrugging, the boy smoothed his crumpled school clothes that he slept in and walked out of the tiny one bedroom apartment he was renting after the necessary brushing of teeth and semi fangs.

"Time to get to work..." He said as he headed towards the shopping district. Once there at a certain facility, he donned the customary uniform- a certain Dutch Maid dress and began advertising the wares on the street. It worked in his favor considering his rather androgynous features, as well as drew in customers to the humble eatery nearby.

The exact reason the dragon was doing this was to help out the humans who so kindly gave him food when he wandered into the area. As such, his pride dictated that he would ensure that their business would thrive in such an economy. So far, it seemed to be working as masses of young people jostled each other to eat at the cafe Emeraude.

Still, he was rather glad he was disowned. If he ever did something like this whilst in the family, dishonour would be rained down upon the celestial longs. Since exile however, he was able to do whatever he felt like, freed of celestial laws. It was rather fun in a try everything kinda way.

"Did you go and forget about the whole secrecy thing, Neko-san?" the Carefree Witch admonished the cat-formed shapeshifter, refusing the refer to him by his real name. It was much, much more fun calling him 'Neko-san', anyway. After a few moments of silence, she added "Are you some kind of pervert, Neko-san? Looking up a little girl's skirt?"

Amitiel halted, not tired from the run in the slightest. Not enough to appear inhuman, just enough to appear weirdly athletic. So, food delivery service or whatever? It sounded kind of fun, she guessed. She peered at the person who had answered the door, and... cute girl in pajamas?! This was getting better and better! Much, much better! She went from being bored, to seeing two pretty cute girls, and was that a thi-... She didn't have any limbs.

Amitiel frowned. Well... hopefully she was okay. She seemed fine, watching TV. Her attention shifted to the girl at the door.

"Hi," she greeted her, grinning. Now, how to go about this...

Hisako frowned. There had to be something wrong, given Shujiko's reaction to her greeting. Clearly, she should see what was going on. It was the best and most logical response. Sucking a bit more on her lollipop, Hisako headed inside after the other girl. She was aware of someone else behind her, but didn't really pay them much heed yet.

"Secrecy? I'm a shapeshifter, even if someone figured me out, I could just turn into something different and they'd be none the wiser. Though I suppose that doesn't work with you." He paused a moment.

"And no, I'm not a pervert, I just happen to be a cat standing underneath you at the moment. Gimme a minute..." He looked around a moment, then shifted near-instantly to a different form. He flew up and landed on her shoulder, now a small crow.

"There we go... I can still hang with you, right? Because I am kind of lonely, now that I think about it."

After knocking on the door, Cyndy carefully placed the boxes on the ground, leaned on her knees and huffed. Thirteen streets - and an extra four because she kind of took a wrong turn in her haste - was a bit much for her. That girl might have only joined on the tail-end of her delivery, but damn if she wasn't great at running.

Some pajama-clad girl answered the door, giving Cyndy the impression she was pretty lazy. Lucky, this customer didn't seem to need to get up early for some kind of job for upkeep.

With her breathe regained, Cyndy immediately straightened herself. Despite her clothing and running, she was still wasn't boiling hot. Little sweaty, though. "Kei's Delivery Gal here! Everything you wanted right here, so..." Cyndy glanced over the girl's shoulder, seeing another girl. With... no limbs.

With a guilty glance at the now-doubt ruined delivery, Cyndy spoke again, slightly less eager-sounding. "So... right, um, that'll be..."

Cyndy frowned as she tried to calculate the price she forgot to memorise, then reduce that by eighty percent, then find a conceivable reason for the reduction, then leave before they actually began to eat. Kind of cowardly, but since they could always call back to her work and complain... at least there wouldn't be a limbless girl in the background, no doubt glaring at her with disappointment.

"Uh... I dunno," Shujiko shrugged. She probably should have considered how weird it would be to walk into a shop and not buy anything. She'd only wanted to avoid that criminally cute girl's enchanting stare...

Figuring she should at least browse, Shujiko continued, "I'll... just look around." Not like she could probably buy anything anyway. Spent quite a bit on her groceries, after all.
Hearing someone else enter, Shujiko glanced at the door, only to snap her eyes back to a shelf, hoping that the back of her head was completely unrecognisable. Damn it, why'd she have to follow? Now she was going to have to look at this stupid little doll thing until she went away or something!

"You might wanna stay away from that doll," said Aki. "It bites,"

Her tone of voice didn't change at all; giving no indication whether or not she was joking or serious.

"...and so the shoggoth said 'Fine, I'll just have some coffee,'" said Lucy, adding the punchline to a joke so filthy that putting 'The aristocrats' at the end would not have done it justice.

The person at she'd been telling the joke to was currently sitting on the ground in the fetal position, muttering to himself. Lucy sighed; humans never liked her jokes. Their reactions to her jokes varied from mild nausea to incoherent babbling; but not a single one of her jokes had gotten a single laugh. She supposed her jokes would improve if she stopped slipping forbidden secrets into them.

She poked the human she'd been talking to.

"Oh, come on; that was one of my milder ones!" she said. "You should hear my version of the aristocrats!"

Emiko gave the child in the backpack an odd look, wondering just who the hell she was, before taking the food and calling over her shoulder at her sister, "Oi, Keiko, do we have to pay or not?"

The answer would most likely upset Cyndy even further than the potential that she'd gone and ruined the meal of someone missing all of their limbs, since Keiko cheerfully gave the reply that, most likely, they didn't have to pay without giving an explanation.

"So... if we've ordered from the right place, we don't have to pay," Emiko said, "But I'm not sure you are from the right restaurant. I don't recognise you, at least..."

Sariel peered curiously at some of the items on the walls. Nothing eldritch, yet, but it was only a matter of time due to the amount of magical stuff here...

Cyndy, distracted from her mental calculations, gave Emiko a look of disbelief at the news. "No... pay?" Cyndy repeated. "Um, uh... sounds fair for a completely mysterious reason, but... eh..."

Suddenly, Cyndy slapped her forehead in understanding. This girl sounded like she went to that restaurant often, and thus didn't recognise the new recruit Cyndy. And she apparently didn't have to pay, so...

"Ahaha! I get it, you're regular's at Kei's!" Cyndy laughed, nodding in understanding. "Valued customers who get benefits for being special and stuff! Well, I really should introduce myself!"

With a small pirouette, Cyndy placed a hand to her chest and smiled brightly. "Call me Cyndy Ryuhime, Kei's newest and greatest delivery girl! And this..." The red-head placed a hand atop her athletic companion's head. "...Is someone I met five seconds ago and do not know, but is my most trusted partner! Until further notice, she is known as Ember!"

"Hmmm..." The Carefree With contemplated this prospect for a few moments. Well, having a raven hanging around could be silly... but also way, way, way too conspicuous. Nope, she could not just go around having a raven sitting on her shoulder. That would be way too obvious.

"Go somewhere secluded and change into a less conspicuous form, Neko-san," replied the Carefree Witch, "And then I'll think about it."

"I'm Ami," Amitiel said, irritated for a moment when Cyndy rested her hand on her head. She quickly shrugged it off, and her smile returned. She looked up at the pajama-clad girl and inclined her head to one side, before speaking. "You're pretty cute."

Her flirting never worked, but maybe, just maybe, this time it would.

"Ah, Ishi-san," Hisako said, approaching Shujiko. This was a weird little shop, Hisako didn't remember it, but then she hadn't really lingered around this area of town that frequently, so it's possible that she may had missed it. "Um... is something wrong? You've seemed a bit down every time I've seen you, recently..."

"...fine, I'll go change." The crow flew over to a nearby alleyway, ducking behind a dumpster. Several seconds later, a boy who looked around the same age as the Carefree Witch walked out, with jet black hair and red eyes, wearing a simple black shirt and jeans. Perhaps a bit western in style, but Dremlin was from Europe, so it was to be expected.

"Is this better?" He grinned.

The Carefree Witch folded her arms, looking the shapeshifter over for a few moments. Well, his latest form was certainly less conspicuous. She folded her arms, and smiled at him.

"No."

With that, she cheerfully turn around and skipped away. After all, she wasn't inclined to hang around with someone who had looked up her skirt, even if they had been a cat at the time.

The Mydyrn twins walked down the street, keeping their eyes out for a good place to eat. It wasn't until they were nearing a cafe called the Emeruade that Mysteria perked up excitedly and jogged ahead to the cosplaying girl(?) in front of the cafe, handing out flyers.

"Oh, you're so cute!" Mysteria gushed at the other girl(?). "I wonder if I can make Tyky wear something like that?"

"Over my lifeless rotting corpse," Mystyk spoke up as he appeared behind his sister. "Besides, I'd rock that dress even better than him."

"Hm... you're right. You look so much like me anyway," Mysteria giggled.

Mystyk's eyes slowly drifted to the upper right corner of his sockets. That was his version of rolling his eyes.

"We own the restaurant, actually," Emiko replied, taking the food and staring at the little girl that had just called her cute, "Can you find this girl's parents? I'll call the restaurant and tell them what you're doing..."

Anything to get her away from me. 'Cute'... from a little girl.
